  1. Ok another flight and having the same problem. Update: Uninstalled version 6.05 and installed new version 6.1.6 Voices/settings are still there ...yeah However, location to my level-D was lost...simple fix. Getting FSS is ok now...however, I'm still get problem when request flight following...anybody else have this problem? I'll open a new thread. -Ray
  2. Last night I just went for it...installing right over top of previous version (of course copied the directory off to a safe place first) The install went fine. Here's what I noticed: The enable seemed to go faster, it says version 6.16, but does not go through all my voices and variations filter vs unfiltered like it used too. Not sure if that's a problem. Next, I started a VFR flight and it seemed to fix a problem I was having at a local class E airport. The problem I was having is that it kept repeating the same instruction twice. That seems to be fixed. Calling unicom for airport info I get only one reply. After departing I messed up the call to approach to get flight following and all seem to go down hill from here. First, I got an unable from the controller...so I thought I'll wait and try again. Then the controller started giving my traffic, so i thought all was well...I got hand offs also, but also I noticed is that I was not hearing nearly as much chatter as before. My traffic level is at 60%...I see a lot of planes around me but not as much chatter. Within 30 miles of destination I tried to get hand off into Bravo airspace...did not work, tried getting hand off to approach...did not work...tried getting hand off to tower...did not work. So, maybe I just mess that first call up (I've seen this before). I'll try it again this evening. Also, I did notice is that my call sign is now Cessna 12345 instead of November 12345 Anybody else care to share their new version experience? -Ray
  3. Should one not uninstall 6.05 and just install 6.16 on top of it. It's going to be a pain if I have to re-install all my voices. I have the VOXPopServer and it's voices, I have about 6 other voices and they are configured just how I like them. Controller voices/speed vs. other voices. So would I have to setup these all over again? Thanks, Ray p.s. This is a wonderful program and I love it.
  4. FYI... X-Plane on Android future does not look good. http://www.avweb.com/podcast/podcast/AudioPodcast_AustinMeyer_XPlane_InnovationsLawsuits_208210-1.html?kw=self -Ray
  5. Yep...I understand that, but with Prepard3d 2.0 on the horizon I would start to think of maybe upgrading. Support is also going to be a issue down the road...even for me running FSX...I'm now watching very closely to Lockhead Martin's progress. I have an older i7-860 that's overclocked, but wished I would have bought the i5's, there better for gaming and overclocking according to Tomshardware. I follow them for bench marks. www.newegg.com has some pretty good deals. -Ray
  6. I thought Microsoft (MS) sold FSX and ESP source code to Lockhead Martin (LM), please correct me if I'm wrong. That's why last year Flight come out from Microsoft as a new product...that took us back in time. Flight was cancelled, the effort for MS to rewrite a lot of that code was not profitable for them. MS is and has been making a lot of bad business decisions trying to play catch up. If MS was smart they would have just brought Flight out on the XBOX with it's own yoke and rudder pedals. Then they would have had the software and hardware money. They also would not have the performance issue we have today, because they would have targeted their own hardware. But hey what do I know ;-) -Ray
  7. What's keeping you from going to FSX? -Ray
  8. I like the FSX version. But again, I'm not looking for a lot of stuff outside the fence. There is stuff outside the fence and there are some neat sound files. I have quite a few things from LatinVFR: Key West Kingston - Jamaica Montego Bay - Jamaica Bermuda -Ray
  9. My first solo sounds similar to yours, however, my instructor had me taxi back to the FBO and then he jumped out. I had to make three touch and go's to a complete stop off the runway, so basically taxi off, taxi back and take off again. The first take off, I was like this thing is climbing really fast. I was at pattern altitude mid field and I didn't know what to do. So I turned cross wind, and it made my landing seemed very rushed. (A beam the numbers - wow that was fast - do check list) The second take off I was like, ok, I know it's going to climb fast, but I'll just reach pattern altitiude and fly to the end of the runway to turn cross wind. I was thinking this is really cool...and should I be up here...I started getting a little nervous. By the third take off I really just wanted to get it over. It wasn't until I did my solo cross country that I felt really comfortable. Now the bigger question is how many hours did you have before you solo'ed I had less than 10.
  10. Here's my take so far on the Cirrus SR22 (Overall I like it and am pleased. Feel free to keep reading...), I've been waiting a long time, and I had EagleSoft...but returned it. It just didn't feel right to me, IMHO. Outside and inside looks really good. Attention to detail and click-able hot spots, is good also. Like for example the HVAC fan works :-) So first I did a quick check out. Touch and go's, Slow flight, Stalls, and step turns. Slow flight - good. Stalls (approach - power off) - not good...would not break. Touch and Go's - passable, but front end seems a little light to me..very sensitive. Step turns - again front end seems light, turbo lag (not too bad), you'll need to adjust for Cross country flights. I'm on my Europe tour. Have about 6-7 hours on the hobbs meter: PDF and MFD might seem basic at first, but it's has a little more feature What I like about them: Checklist - that's a great feature TAWS and TOPO Engine mapping and Mixture assist (That's a great feature) Have not tried to enter a flight plan directly but keypad does work for going direct. Night lighting...very nice and you can adjust the brightness on the nav lights, from low/med/high - again very nice. [*]What I do not like or does not seem to work: Garmin has the inner and outer knobs and on the SR22 it's really hard to figure out which is which. Hot spots seems to differ between controls, COM/NAV and FMS Landing light does not seem to reflect bright enough on the runway for landing. I would have thought that a center landing light would be pretty bright. I seems like it's a side landing light...because side mounting landing light do a poor job of providing runway landing lights. That's just from my experience. My biggest complaint right now is the MFD and approach plates. I cannot seem to pull up any approach plates. Again, the click-able hot spots (inner vs outer) makes this really hard. And to top it off if you decide to cancel the approach request I cannot seem to get out of this screen. Documentation seems to be lacking. Now, this is only my second airplane from them. Documentation seems to just tell you, the description of an item you might hover over. Doesn't really tell you how to use the item, or when to use it. Some grammar error also. Overall I really like this product and after adding Opus camera view to it, it's really nice. Please note It's easy to sit back and through darts when we(I) are(am) not the ones(one) developing the product, so I just want to say THANKS to Carenado, because I'm sure It takes a lot of effort to even produce a basic airplane, let alone a more advance product like the SR22. It might not before everyone, but real GA fans should enjoy this product, and with time the product should get better. -Ray
  11. FSX to me is for learning, and if I crash...I first try and figure out why I crashed. Then I thank God I'm in FSX. Then I re-fly the route and learn from my mistake. This helps so so much. Teaches me very powerful lessons that we as real pilots tend to forget. I.e. SCAN your instruments. Flying single IFR it's very easy to get caught up in tuning radios, talking, looking at maps, that one can easily forget, they where descending to assigned altitude and one had pulled back the throttle, so not to over speed, and the auto pilot has reached the assigned altitude and one forgot to bring back up the power. Try this at night in IMC, it's very important to SCAN. -Ray
  12. This makes perfect since for a nose down spin, but what about a flat spin? -Ray
  13. Just curious if a Boeing 737-800 can really recover from a spin. With it's wings swept back it tends to enter a flat spin, from my training and studies, a flat spin is unrecoverable. However, FSX Boeing 737 has a hard time recovering from the stall warning. Last night ATC left me too high for too long, I should have just executed the missed approach, but no I said I can get down in time to capture the ILS. So...speed brakes on, throttle back to idle, gear down, VS set to 3500 fpm. IAS 140kts. Passengers streaming, but I assured them I had it under control, the decent was a controlled decent, the problem came when I got behind the aircraft, trying to tune radios, and nav aids...the sound you do not want to hear starts. STALL WARNING! Of course it takes a few seconds for you to grasp what the heck is going on. And then a few more seconds to realize you still have the auto pilot engage. So you do what you're train to do: 1. Disengage George 2. Noise down 3. Throttle up But, by that time it's too late for the 737, flat spin commenced. Lessons learn: 1. Execute missed approach 2. And don't forget to raise gear 3. And don't forget to lower speed brakes -Ray
  14. During the last couple of flights in the US i'm noticing that when I lower my gear I see a gear warn light and hydra pump light come on and stay on. Also, I get a loud beeping noise if I throttle back to idle after touch down. Even during taxi i cannot idle without tis loud beeping. Any ideas? -Ray
  15. I had the same problem and just turned them off. Their photo is just plain rubbish, no matter setting I tried I could not get them to look like their photo. -Ray
  16. Hi Manny, Any updated pictures? I love your home built cockpit. I have several question, if you do not mind about the Desktop Aviator product. Can you tune the frequencies for the Reality-XP 530, since theirs only one rotary knob? Also, I wish I had the space for the elaborate cockpit as you do, but at the time I do not, however I would like to know what you are using in the photo dated Nov 5th, 2012 to hold the Desktop Aviator upright. -Ray
  17. I fly mostly GA Airplanes my hanger has, outside the defaults: Tecnam Sierra Flight1 C182T Piper Mailbu 46T Lancair Legacy I use CH yoke and rudder pedals My computer specs are in my profile What helps us a lot is I let each family member pick a destination and airplane and we fly there if possible. So for example I asked my wife were she wants to go on our last trip and she said Uruguay. So we fly real-time and real fuel management. We live on the east coast of the US. Once all airplanes are at the destination, I fly them all back to our home airport KLHZ, and we start all over again...It's lots of fun. -Ray Actually, it's been a while since I gotten that one, but I think the key was getting the low past correct...I'll have to try it again. But i think the key was using the autopilot, and getting down to the correct altitude. I use a rate of decent calculation if my memory serves me correctly. -Ray
  18. I think ony once did I do an overnight flight with the auto pilot engaged. But other than that I fly just about everyday, for several hours and more doing the weekends. When I was training for my private pilot's license I used FSX a lot. Now that I'm licensed I use it even more until I can afford to pay for Avgas (lol). BTW I always fly real time, and if I cannot finish a flight to my destination because of time or just being tired, I always deviate to the nearest airport. The wife and kids are very supportive of my hobby, because they always know where I am :-) and they know that they cannot talk to me during take off and landings, any other time I'm far game to them. FSX makes great practice for the real world for me and the family agrees  Yes, I also got the Eiffel Tower postcard reward... -Ray
  19. For the record , Yes I have the 10,000 hour flight reward on FSX. I currently have 12,425 hours logged :-)
  20. Quick update: Restarted my computer with no changes, and all is back to normal. Did a 2+ hour flight and everything worked as planned. So not sure what cause this issue. Thanks, Ray
  21. Ok, this is a weird one...after about an hour in flight I walked away from my computer only to come back and find my view to the rear and upside down. At first I thought my airplane must have rolled. But toggling thru with 'A' showed every view right side up. So clicked F9 (default VC view) and again upside down and looking at the back of the plane. What the heck happened? Thanks, Ray Plane is the Lancair Legacy using Live Camera, DH and AHM. First time this has happened. Using Opus 2.3.x.x
  22. Ok, I love Opus and I have noticed that after I started playing around with the camera views and attached to several GA planes that after about 5 minutes of inactivity FSX exits full screen mode. Has anybody else noticed this? It only seems to happen while on the ground. Taxing and flying are ok. I noticed this also, that after I exit full screen mode to fuel the plane, and click ok...the screen just flashes and will not return to FSX full screen. I have to alt-tab to desktop, and alt-tab back to FSX to re-enter full screen. Thanks, Ray
  23. Figured out the live camera...and all I can say is WOW!! At first when I bought the Lancair Legacy that was the only thing I was flying. None of my other GA where getting any airtime. Now that I have figure out live camera and added it to some of my most loved GA's, I cannot stop flying them...this has brought new life into my fleet of GA planes. Also, why it has taken me so long to reply :-) Thanks OpusFSX, Ray
  24. Hi Cheryl, To be perfectly honest I tried for about an hour after I downloaded the software. I printed out the Live Camera documentation, because viewing it online was way to hard. So after printing it I tried with a GA plane to get the camera view and just could not figure out how to test each view. But I'll try it again this weekend when I have more time. I have other questions, but I'll wait until I have the documentation in front of me... Thanks, Ray
