  1. Well said! my thoughts exactly.
  2. And I had my wallet out and everything.... back in the pocket it goes. So besides the basic warbirds, has any new content been released? since Flight was released? As far as I am concerned there has been zero new content since release. Alaska would be nice, but without a cockpit we will be flying the same planes? old.
  3. Awesome Mapper! thanks! will check it out!
  4. Ah crap... no cockpit? I'm not buying it.This is not a plane a month. This is a toy a month.
  5. They really should have put a nice tutorial in about all gauges really. I was in the same 'plane' as you - I had no idea how to ILS or what gauge was what. So I landed both ILS challenges VFR.... and got silver on the first ILS and gold on the second ILS the first try. Just to toot my own horn lol. It was INTENSE landing VFR in those missions. On the last one all I could see was a small light in the fog, so I flew towards that. Turned out I almost smacked into the control tower!I used some awesome youtube videos that showed me how to get it done.
  6. Yeah! woohooo!ATC mode and 40-50 players... I agree.. awesome idea!
  7. LOL at the zero votes for leaderboards - especially when Joshua Howard said they may put that in...Leaderboards... who cares?
  8. Good interview!Seems very honest, and that is a good thing. My overall confidence in the future of Flight has increased. Thank you.I too am also concerned about how many aircraft will be released without a cockpit. No cockpit = no buy from me.
  9. I agree, it does go against the idea of finding them, but I personally do not really enjoy the hunt. What I enjoy about the aerocaches is that they are all located somewhere special and they are where the cool stuff is. Now I am not lazy. I will fly across all the islands to see something neat and learn. My fun is flying to something cool and learning about it. I'm not a fan of flying in a grid pattern. I would use a complete map as I would visit each unique location several times. As it is right now, I find an aerocache and then a week later I forget where it was.So I guess I don't really mind the hunt for the aerocache, I would just like it marked on a map once I find it so that I may return. And this site is a cool way to do that.
  10. Even in free flight it will give you that display? I am not in aerocache hunt mode. I also do not use the HUD. I will and can, I just think one map with all the points would be awesome. I also think that MS should let us to put notes in the in game map. Too many neat things to see to remember where to return to them. The areocaches are all at neat things, so a map of all of them in one display would be sweet.Thanks.
  11. Hi Mapper! Thanks for all of the hard work. Count me in as a fan.I do have one request/idea:Can you have all of the aerocache points on one map? Or is this a limitation of google earth?I would like to just fly around, and then check the map to see if an aerocache is close by. I would also like to use this to revisit aerocache areas that I have already obtained. Thanks!
  12. Yes, I had a similiar debate going through my head. Wait to see what else is in store? or Go for it. I put a 1,000 miles into the game with no dlc, and then realized I want to support this. So I am all in... here's hoping!
  13. DId you ever manage it? I eventually got gold on it. All realism settings on hard, EXCEPT for smooth braking. I needed the smooth braking on this strip. I do not have the gear to brake smooth without it. I just have an all-or-nothing button.I actually managed it by coming in fast at about 72-75 kts, and concentrating on hitting soft and the middle. Worry about the consequences of this after you touch. It also helps to get angry :LMAO:Skim the tree tops and dive right down in idle as soon as you are past the tree tops.
  14. I could not get it to spin. But that is probably just me. I hit full left rudder and it would start but the nose would drop and it would recover. I can't keep it spinning without it dropping too much and recovering. I'll have to keep trying things.
  15. Gamertag is Bumblewoot. On most evenings.I'll try and add you guys. Please put AVSIM in the note. Thanks,Bumblewoot
  16. Just going to bump myself here. 2:15am isn't realy the best time for my question I guess lol. I will try again now ;)I am really curious about how high everyone can get the Maule. Thanks!Oh and I managed to change my gamertag to be the same: Bumblewoot
  17. I use the mouse and keyboard 95% of the time. The mouse flight is implemented well, and you can still manually rudder with the keyboard. Tapping the A and D key as needed is sufficient for takeoffs and landings. I have obtained gold in most challenges (except the stunts) with the mouse. (settings are as realistic as I can make them) Most flights just need small corrections and smooth turns, and I am more gentle with the mouse than any joystick. For doing loops and fancy stuff I do use a joystick. And for landing in really bad weather. It takes a while to get used to it, but the mouse flight is really quite good for free-flight. Good luck!
  18. Nope, I am not there. I like the stealth fighter in Pic #2 :LMAO:
  19. Hi guys, thanks again for the advice. I'm getting it figured out.New development though:I have been using the Maule now, and I took her up to see how high she could go. I have all settings to realistic btw. Long story short, I hit the ceiling at 16,500'. I could not get her any higher, no matter what I'd do.How high has everyone else gotten the Maule? I had 10-15% fuel, empty plane. Mixture has to be able to 20-30% at this height, and prop was set around 75% so that it was well within the green.I was doing straight steady climbs, and when I hit my ceiling I tried both into the wind and away from the wind. I could never hit 17,000. I just could not get any more out of her. No more energy to be found. I tried levelling off to gain speed before attempting to climb again, but I would fall father than I could climb back with the speed gained.Still lots of fun,Thanks for the input!Bumblewoot(FadingBeano) gametag
  20. Thanks again everyone for the advice. Just an update. Stearman landing master achievement has been unlocked! Gold on all challenges for me! woohooo!!! Well the Stearman landing ones anyway ;)I had all realism settings off... that means unchecked so that the game is difficult except for smooth braking. I'll admit, I have the smooth brakes on due to my xbox 360 controller which I cannot smooth break with just a 100% or 0% button.Funny thing is, I got angry at not getting gold on the landing 6 last one, that I hit replay and just brought the plane in on a hard bank... came in a bit hot but hit the middle with a 486/500 soft landing and +500 for both other stats with a mean brake lol.... I hit it doing 72 knots... way to fast for that strip. The trick is to get impatient and angry! not calm, patient, and concentrating ;)Thanks all and good luck!
  21. ok, thanks for the advice.Any advice on what to set the mixture and prop rpm to up at 8,000'+ ?I'm a little hazy on changing the prop rpm... in my simple mind, high rpm is always needed. If I want less, why not just reduce throttle? Nice newbie question there probably =)
  22. Hi all,Just thought I would join the community here as I am starting to generate some questions about flight, and I have no one to ask :Thinking:So far I am really enjoying Flight. I am using an Xbox360 controller so far, and it is actually working out really well. I have at least silver on all challenges, and half are golds. (realisim settings are set to hard, all toggled off) woot. While my basic knowledge of flying has obtained me these medals, I know I should learn more to get all golds. And this is why I am here now :Just Kidding:My first quesiton is about the Stearman. I need more power. I am doing the job of taking the man on a tour, and my first stop was to the top of the island. And I cannot seem to get the Stearman up there. Last time I got to 10,000'+ and needed to turn around to gain more time to climb. But during the turn I stalled and crashed.I am curious about getting the prop setting and mixture correct in this craft to obtain maximum power at 8,000' and above. Last attempt I had mixture set to half and RPM maxed. Is there prop pitch in this craft?Well that is my main question for now.... I suppose I could use a few tips on the Stearman landing challenge 6. I managed silver, but oh my is that a hard strip to land on.Last one for now: Run clear weather at night... where are the stars??? :Thinking:Thanks,Bumblewoot
