  1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0cFYXxBvFdM HD link: http://youtu.be/0cFYXxBvFdM?hd=1
  2. I think you have hit on the single biggest thing missing from Flight... Hula girls!
  3. You will find the raw output from fraps to be enormous. The easiest way is to encode them to WMV using Windows Movie Maker (free from MS) then upload to Youtube.
  4. Thanks for the examples guys, makes perfect sense.
  5. Ok, after reading that link (thanks for that btw), I think my question should have been: In what scenarios would you have separate headings selected for the heading bug and the course selector?
  6. All other devices use the standard HID (human interface device) API in Windows. They do not need custom support to be built into any games. If Track IR used these APIs, then they also would be supported out of the box like all other HID devices. The real question is, why does Natural Point require custom support implemented into games instead of using the APIs that every other control device uses? Why don't they use the HID API like everyone else has to? If they did, Flight would have Track IR support now. Edit: I found the answer to my own question. They do it to monopolize the head tracking market. http://naturalpointofview.blogspot.com/p/trackir-anticompetition.html
  7. I have used WeGame http://www.wegame.com/ , which is nice, but for whatever reason when I moved from XP to Win7 it did not work well. I moved to fraps instead. I suggest you try the demo first to make sure you get the performance you want out of it.
  8. Thanks Ramon. The link is broken, I found it tho: http://stoenworks.com/Tutorials/HSI%2C%20the%20complete.html
  9. The HSI is a bit overwhelming for me coming from the gauges in the RV. What do you use the heading select bug for? It seems redundant to me.
  10. They would be free to explain to my bank why purchasing content using an email tied to my account did not result in the purchase showing up on my account. Or explain the reasons they were not able to rectify the mistake. Either way, it wouldn't matter to me, I would be long since done with it! =)
  11. The email he purchased the content on was the alternative email on his live account, yet instead of using the account this email is attached to, it created an entirely new account, completely unbeknownst to him. At best their system is broken, and at worst it is a highly deceptive "dark pattern". I am going to give MS the benefit of the doubt and assume they are not deceiving customers into purchasing content twice. Either way it does not matter, if I used an email that is tied to my account and I did not receive the product on that account, I am going to get the issue resolved. And I bet if you threaten to charge back they will suddenly remember that they do have a way to transfer purchases to the correct account.
  12. That would be hilarious, but then again I have a sick sense of humor. It would also be the first no-cockpit aircraft I buy =)
  13. First off, Steam is awesome, but the tinfoil might be blocking it's awesomeness from reaching you. Second, users do not and have never owned software. You are purchasing a license to use the software in accordance with the license agreement. Third, you can install games in offline mode and play them without Valve getting the crucial info that you like playing Flight. And you if think that is scary, I really hope you don't use Gmail, you don't even want to know what they are doing with your emails! And lastly you may be right about their customer service being poor, they seem to have very long response times.
  14. I would calmly explain to support that if they did not transfer the license appropriately, that I would be doing a charge back on the credit card I bought it on. Just because it is DLC does not make it any different than a service I got charged for but did not get.
  15. I play a different 1c game, so recall seeing forums here: http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/forumdisplay.php?f=189
  16. Last night I was doing some canyon runs in the fog, and if you stay low you can make out enough terrain to survive for at least awhile. It was also one of the most exciting things I have done in Flight, and I feel about 10 times better using the artificial horizon now =)
  17. It isn't a list of all players you have flown with, but recent players you have played with on LIVE. Sign into xbox.com with your LIVE account -> Social Tab -> Friends -> Players you met (this link is on the left hand side of the page) Edit: There may be a way to see this in game via LIVE, but I find the web site is much easier to use.
  18. And everyone is entitled to their opinions of what is fun, which was more my point than anything else. There are a ton of flight simulators out there, which is why I am very thankful the "unwashed masses" (like me) now have something appealing for them. But this dead horse has been beaten way too many times in the past few months, so excuse me while I bow out of this rehash. That's good to hear, having never done I probably shouldn't comment on it at all. I sort of glaze over doing jobs at times, so I imagine it like an extended version of that. I would love a random failure mechanic so I could use my emergency checklist.
  19. Thanks for posting these screenshots guys, making me want to cut out of work early and play some flight!
  20. In the same way someone could love doing an trans-atlantic flight with autopilot enabled. Something I would never find remotely interesting, yet you would never, ever catch me on the FSX forums asking why MS put the feature in.
  21. Just wanted to say that I am very sorry to hear that Arwen, as your views are very balanced and reasonable. It is a real loss for this community. I can't say that I blame you tho. This forum is so much more enjoyable when you have the option to ignore threads. And lets be honest, 75% of what is posted is a rehash of the same dead horse that has been beaten for months now. Have a good break, hope to see you back as a "civilian" soon.
  22. I think a jet might make more sense in AK, but you are right, HI would get boring quick.
  23. This is correct, the extremely simplified answer is that a 32 bit system can only address 232 memory addresses, and Windows generally wants to reserve 216 of that so it doesn't have to page swap. It is a lot more complicated than that, but I will spare you guys the details =)
  24. Yup, that nicely sums up what this thread has devolved to for me as well =)
  25. I have a very similar system, and get stutters while panning on maximum. I have everything set to high now, and still get some stutters now and then, but much less. Interestingly, my FPS is rock solid even while stuttering, and it only really happens when panning to look around.
