  1. To be fair, it sounds like the demo was on one machine in the Xbox booth. Basically a needle in the haystack that is PAX.
  2. Cool, I have a custom theme with all sorts of gaming screen shots, but I think I will be running this one for awhile, or at least steal some shots out of it for my theme!
  3. No, all online is still handled via GFWL.
  4. I would not be surprised to see Alaska next week, as they teased it a month ago now. But I also know how things can go when it come to release time, so I am not getting excited till I see the official word =)
  5. It is a very real possibility news outlets have the info and are under embargo. There is also a strong possibility they are making assumptions based off the previous DLC, regarding the price. I am guessing the latter, but time will tell!
  6. Gotcha, I have never been able to put enough distance on to not be busted. Thanks for the info.
  7. No problem Hook, to clarify the above are just my current working assumptions and may not be entirely correct :) It is fun trying to figure this stuff out tho!
  8. No matter if you initially purchase a GFWL game from Steam or not, all DLC must be downloaded and installed via GFWL. Steam only gives you a code for the DLC that must be redeemed in the GFWL client, it does not manage the actual deployment of of the DLC.
  9. To complete it I flew directly out to sea about 5nm from shore, maybe more, then flew down the coast and cut back in when I got close to my destination.
  10. Got a nice 30nm hop that ran up the coast of the big island. I got busted within 10nm of takeoff on my first attempt, so I figured this would be a great mission for some law enforcement testing. I did 5 runs, hitting "restart mission" each time I got busted. Each run I would spot the generic aircraft about 3.8nm away in the same spot. It would flash up and immediately disappear, which is the same behavior every time I have seen this aircraft. It flashes, the copilot tells you to steer clear, and immediately vanishes, with the copilot telling you to resume course. However that aircraft was law enforcement every time! I also tested shaking him off my tail. I think it is possible to keep him far enough away long enough to get to the approach checkpoint. He flies large circles, attempting to intercept your vector. If you very quickly change direction against his circle you can put distance between you and him while he sets up another intercept, but I never got to a point where I actually lost him. I think someone with more skills than I have flying an overloaded Maule might be able to hold him off long enough to land, but I am not sure you can lose him once you are close enough to see the words "Law Enforcement". So here is my current working assumptions regarding the law: 1) They are placed in a static position, possibly when the mission is created or accepted. Restarting the mission will not change this position. 2) They are placed close to the direct route between the start and end points of the mission. I was able to avoid the encounter by flying away from the direct route, then paralleling it. 3) Flying under 1000ft does not stop them from spawning 4) Flying away from civilization does not stop them from spawning 5) If your copilot spots another aircraft, assume this is the law and avoid the location it was spotted at all costs 6) If you copilot tells you all is clear and to resume course, he is lying. (I think the aircraft disappearing is a bug) 7) It is not possible to shake the law, however it might be possible to keep distance long enough to get to the checkpoint
  11. Glad to help! I have passed thru Cottage Lake many times, my friend's family has property in Duvall. Nice area for sure.
  12. Correct Eevun, you actually redeem the code in the Games for Windows Live client, then it downloads and installs the DLC.
  13. Can you assign them different axes? The issue with having them on the same axis is that one pedal is negative, and one pedal is positive, so both pressed together will bring it back to null.
  14. My wife's file organization consists of a single folder named "files". :LMAO:
  15. What would be fantastic is a "fullscreen windowed" mode. It appears to be full screen, but is actually rendered in a window that has no border and fits the screen exactly. This has worked very well for me in other games. Thanks for posting these great bits of info Fred. This type of stuff needs to be communicated to a wider audience IMO.
  16. Whichever airport has a large amount of contraband that needs to transported is my home base at the time
  17. Absolutely, I would have bought the bundle for sure had it been available at launch. Unfortunately I won't be able to wait for Alaska to go on sale on Steam
  18. Yes, when you purchase on Steam you get a redemption code that you use in GFWL, so there is almost no reason to install via Steam if you have in installed via GFWL already. That being said, I installed it on Steam because I want my game library to be as consolidated as possible. I use the Steam overlay all the time and have a few RL friends I chat with via Steam. Using Steam does not replace Live in any way, you still have to log into Live when you start the game. It simply increases the install base (in a large way I imagine) and gives you an alternative place to purchase DLC, often at a discounted rate.
  19. 1) It remains to be seen if they will allow activation of the retail product on Steam. This has been supported for other games in the past. 2) GFWL will still be what controls the DLC, you can only buy a key for it on Steam. So not to worry, your DLC should stay tight as it is tied to your gamertag.
  20. This is how most (all?) GFWL games work on Steam. You can buy the DLC, you get the key, but then you have to redeem the key and DL the content via GFWL.
  21. I really love Steam, really glad to see it on there, and it will go a long, long way to boosting the sales of Flight. I hope we can activate on Steam if we already bought it. What I hate about Steam is that it make me so cheap! I know a product will come up for sale eventually, so I always hold out on the new stuff. This bundle is a great example, I have already spent $35 on Flight, and knowing I could have gotten the Mustang in there too, for $5 less... Really kicks me in my wallet!
  22. I am firmly in this camp, I fidget and change positions in my chair constantly. Using head tracking on Forza/Kinect I quickly learned that I move around too much for head tracking to be anything more than an annoyance. And with Kinect I didn't have to wear any dorky headgear :) I am glad that the people that use TrackIR are getting support, but to be frank TrackIR should use the normal HID APIs that all other controllers use instead of soaking up a developers time for special treatment.
  23. I have found that the encounter with the interceptor is fairly random, having encountered it only a couple times so far. However once they are on you, they seem to be on you no matter what you do, and you have to continue to do very quick direction changes to get some distance on them. Whether you can completely lose them or not, I don't know. I have evaded being busted for a long time, but I inevitably get caught no matter what. What happens more often is that you will see another aircraft, one not labeled "police". As soon as you fly away from them they disappear. I have never had one of these come more than 3nm from me. When the aircraft is labeled police, they always pop about 1.3nm away and closing. I have not found a way to lose them, but quick course changes will throw them off for a few seconds, long enough to gain distance.
