Bring back volumetric lighting!
olealm replied to Keirtt's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Yes, it might be a (yet another) bug, but there is also a possibility it has been removed. Anyway, what's wrong asking for a detalied list also included any _removed_ features? And whats wrong with a bit of sarcasm? Don't you just love negative (and conderscending) people complaining about negative people. Lighten up, dude 😉 -
MSFS v 1.18.14.0 should be GROUNDED NOW
olealm replied to nas123's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
SU3 was a nightmare and I had to reinstall the sim. SU4 had no fatal problems (for me). SU5 + Hotfix give me CTD approx every second time loading the exact same flight. And TrackIR lose connection with the Sim half a second or so arfter I click Ready to Fly, after messing up the view. Oh, and 2 of my controller setups was lost after SU5 update. What is so frustrating is that every time there is an update to your functioning sim, you HAVE TO update. It is MANDATORY. You're not even allowed to wait until the problems have been fixed. You have a choice of staying away from the Sim for a while, or upgrade it to a beta again.. I'm also one of those "bad" people that think the visual quality we all paid for last year has been partly "stolen" from us. Must say I'm disappointed. -
Global AI Ship Traffic FSX and P3D News and Support
olealm replied to KL791's topic in General Freeware Discussions
Like Henrik said, there has been a lot of traffic the last couple of days (and that is great!), but unfortunately the heavy load comes with the price of downloads from the main server (A) sometimes timing out. Trying to download from Server B might be the saviour. Server B has a limit of "only" 2MB/s per download, but at the same time it has a munificent timeout limit. -
Yes, but you just know in advance they'll probably announce a new version or product of their own. Not a new sim or some other general "Big news!" Yes, all media live out of exaggerated (and often quite misleading) headlines. But we are all allowed to have an opinion about it. And we don't have to like it.
-
Sorry, but "relatively exiting" and "Big News!" just don't match up. The way he treats critical voices in the comments, unfortunately moved Adx a few places down on the list for me.

Try to remove the trailing space shown in red: ...\Traffic Toolbox SDK_\..

Indeed they work fine in Prepar3D. Same folders as for FSX.

Was not aware of this utility, but indeed it looks like Stenin only works in FSX. Hopefully he will update it! There is also the traffic tool in the SDK (FSX/P3D), of course. Not as elegant a utility as Stenin looks to be, but it helps finding the ships. I wrote a faq on installing and using it here: https://www.flightsimnorway.com/addons/?funct=faq&action=artikel&cat=9&id=22 -
You probably need Sparse Grid Supersampling Anti Aliasing (SGSSAA). If you have a Nvidia GPU you can use Nvidia Inspector (http://www.techspot.com/downloads/5077-nvidia-inspector.html) to set this up. Note. 8x SGSS will give your GPU a lot of work, especially if many clouds. However, even 2x or 4x SGSS helps. Lots of resources available on how to set it up. Here is a screenshot of my settings:

Have you tried Navid's sky textures? http://navidh.se/misc_navids_skyset_2016_v3.html

Can Libraries be placed wherever in scenery_packs.ini, or is there a "rule"? -

Hehe, past few weeks have been almost proper cold, temperatures between -2 and -10C. Now 30cm of dry snow and blue skies, too. I really don't understand why you chose December instead of now Oh, and apologies if I made the impression there are almost no red roof-tops in Norway. It is probably around 50% "red" and 50% Grey/Dark. No matter what, it is great as is. -

Yes, Bergen looks fantastic in Beta1, thanks again (The blue smog generated by the DTH plugin is just about how it looks for real in the present cold weather) -

I just love the new Norway, even in Alpha2. Based on real data is so much better than "plausible", so thank you for your hard work! Will be happy with it excactly as it is now, but if striving for perfection is in order: An item on the wishlist would be the houseroofs toned down a bit (using other models?). I would say more than half of the houses in Norway have dark/grey houseroofs. Below is a pic of the city of Kristiansand in Norway Pro (world models?): And in real life: -

Yes, a definate improvement over A1, well done! To nitpick (in the most possible humble way) I would agree that the shadows maybe are a bit too dark. They are quite easy to spot if the number of objects setting is not very high/at max. And studying the landscape below is excactly what I do with an addon scenery like this: With extreme settings, it is pure joy, and my soon 2 year old computer cope with extreme settings surprisingly well. Guess they invented 64bit for a reason : -
