Saving before landing
Hello fellow simmers! So, I really need to learn how to land. But I love flying my PMDG and don't want to just hand fly in circles for quick line ups to land. Is there a way to save the flight sim and PMDG 737 NGX on final approach so I can just keep reloading it and landing again? I tried just saving but when I reload, it just crashes FSX.

Managing speeds on approach
This is good stuff. I've never used SPD INTV or Level Change. I guess I'll have to play with them, but wouldn't mind a quick overview.

Managing speeds on approach
Hello everyone! When I fly my approach into an airport, such as SFO, I see that the FMC really wants me to be going pretty dang slow, like 160 to 150KIAS. But I know in real life, ATC would like me to fly a lot faster. Approaching SFO, for instance, planes are expect to fly 180KIAS until DUMBA or BARTN and slow to final approach speed only at the outer marker (AXMUL, I believe). What's the best way to simluate this? If I turn A/T to speed mode, I lose the VNAV and I have to control my own descents. But if I keep it on VNAV, the plane wants to slow to a very slow speed. And I don't like changing all the points to have a speed of 180 but maybe that's the only answer? Ideas?

FSX and Macs
Digant C Kasundra replied to Digant C Kasundra's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcThe Mac tower is loaded with the ATI Radeon HD 4870. I have to imagine it has to be more than just the models. After all, WOAI just adds files to the existing configs and UT2 actively monitors so you can reset traffic, start/stop, increase and decrease. And considering that if you go into the menus, UT2 loses all the traffic and respawns it, but WOAI doesn't, it must be using different mechanisms.

FPS with or without AI?
Yeah, I tried that. With UT2 sliders down to 50%, I had about 6 planes at SFO, with graphics set to medium and was doing about 10-12 FPS. With WOAI, I have about 12 planes at SFO and graphics set to Ultra High and am doing about 15-20FPS. That's a good point. I wonder if the models are the issue. I think WOAI models are fine (I'd rather have a living environment with decent frame rate and ignore weird glitches then just have a dead environment with me and just a few other planes).

Digant C Kasundra replied to Digant C Kasundra's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcYes, that's definitely true. I had UT2 at 50% traffic. Even so, with about 6 airplanes at SFO, I have frame rates of 10FPS with graphics turned down to low-medium. With WOIA, I have about 12 planes at SFO with graphics turned up to Ultra High and have frame rates of 15-20FPS.

FSX and Macs
Digant C Kasundra replied to Digant C Kasundra's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcJust an update for anyone using Mac hardware: I get beautiful frame rates (20-15, which I find acceptable) with graphics set to Ultra High, and Traffic set to 100%. I did this with two major changes: 1) I got rid of Ultimate Traffic 2, which was just killing my frame rates. It sucks. Don't use it. (2) I configed my FSX.cfg using http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html -- did some cool magic. Now things are fantastic!

FPS with or without AI?
Just to report back, I got magnificent frame rates (to at 20, only dipped 15 now and then). I did it by getting rid of Ultimate Traffic 2. I hereby declare UT2 sucks, atleast on Mac hardware. Now, if WOAI, I have cranked all my graphics settings up to MAX and have traffic to MAX and doing beautifully!
