  1. More realistic than the default 737...
  2. The highest overclock I achieved with the i5 was 4.6 but it was too hot. I'm sure if I had a better cooler and graphics card I could bring it up to 4.8. 5ghz is pretty hard, however I see a lot of people saying that the Haswell is the way to go, maybe it is since it's a newer CPU.
  3. Hello, Yes the Haswell CPU may not be your best option. I definitely suggest the i5/i7 for FSX nad for gaming. To save money, go with he i5 2500K, it's an amazing CPU that is very easy to OC. When you overclock, especially to 4.5ghz+ make sure that you have a VERY good cooling system. Look online for the best coolers for overclocking. Next, make sure that your graphics card isn't bad compared to your CPU because it will be a "bottleneck" and prevent your CPU to preform at it's full potential. Give me your specs and ill help you out further .
  4. Yes Yes Yes!!!!! An overclocked CPU is a must have for FSX! However, I do want to say that with the pmdg 737, Chicago X, and FSDT Chicago your going to have a hard time getting smooth frames.
  5. Well i have never used FS9 but after what people say about it that might be your solution if you wish to stay with MFS. However, i recommend X plane 10

    Short routes

I cant think of any short routes with the 777
  7. I think XPX is the future of flight simulation, it will just take a lot of time. I still have P3D and will revisit it from time to time however it might be hard considering the fact i'm an "FPS freak".
  8. Judging by what your running and if your getting good frames, I should see a HUGE improvement. Yes ive heard of that. Is it user friendly? I know there were ways to develop scenery for FSX but there were a lot of programs needed and it was quite complicated.
  9. If only people used components like that in X-Plane 10.....
  10. Thats great! And what about the CPU overclock? Right now mine is at 4.3ghz which is getting me 75°c+ under load so I would like to reduce it if possible, unless it will decrease my performance.
  11. I used to try to fly online (participated in 3 cross the pond events) but I would always end up with fatal errors or OOM even when I thought I had fixed them
  12. Im actually going to buy that card. Do you use HDR? What about plane addons? And do you think i will see an improvement from my HD 6870?
  13. Wow those are some great answers from everybody! And to the people here who use XPX frequently, how important is the GPU compared to FSX? I know in FSX the GPU was barely used but in X Plane apparently it is very important along side the CPU. I have an i5 2500K @ 4.3ghz and an AMD Radeon 6870 which might be getting a little out dated with all the newer generation GPU's. I'm thinking of upgrading and getting a Nvidia 680 since there is a very big sale at amazon right now, so I think if I have that i'll be able to get even better graphics and FPS.
  14. Hello everyone! As it says in the title, i'm switching to XPX. My previous sim was FSX/P3D, which was great for the addons but horrible for FPS. About 2 weeks ago I downloaded the Xplane 10 demo and it was (still is!) amazing! Just the quality of Seattle with the frames I was getting was just too great. With around everything maxed (except for HDR) I get between 25+ FPS. Now i'm thinking of buying it and making it my perm sim. I will also be buying the 777 addon and the CRJ and possibly a pilot edge sub if i enjoy the trial. I just have a few questions since i'm a complete noob . Whats the difference in all the XPX versions? For example, There is Xplane 10 and Xplane 10 + Global scenery ; XPX North america, XPX Europe.... To my understanding all X Plane 10 software packages now include global scenery unless you bought a specific region? On Amazon.fr (I live in France), the is an X-Plane 10 for 43, the only thing i'm concerned with is that it is an "Import Anglais" (English import) which is not a problem since English is my native language but will I still have global scenery? (http://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B006H0YSAK/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2BWG95L99NC8P) Second, I know that the demo area (Seattle) has "enhanced scenery" from what i have heard. So how is the rest of the world scenery wise? Are the still plenty of buildings? I heard that almost all airports don't have buildings or terminals? How are the 777 and CRJ aircraft on FPS? Any good scenery addons or should I keep the default? Thank you everybody for taking the time to read my post, I know it's a bit long but it will be a big step for my sim .
  15. When I had Win 8 I was happy except my joysticks kept disconnecting. I tried FSUIPC with solved it a little but in the end I went back to Win 7. I recommend it for FSX/P3D/XPX or for any games.
  16. I was about to swith from P3D to XPX but I might wait and try this out. I hope Global brings some FPS improvements...
  17. If you are using Windows 8 than that's the problem. I used it and got the same issues as you, so I switched to Win 7 and never had that problem again.
  18. That looks really nice! What scenery is it?
  19. I think it changes whether you have Nvidia or AMD. Like Dave said, I also get positive results and so far no blurries (after I added .40 to FFTF)
  20. If you want, send my in a PM your email and ill help you pick the parts that you will need
  21. +1 for building own rig. You should get similar specs to the X51, however, get an unlocked CPU and a graphics card that's not as good as the 660 so that you can buy a good water cooler. Then you can overclock your cpu and then your sure to run the 777 Where did you hear that? But that's great news!
