  1. Hi I'm trying to find right balance for NGX in AS16 configuration. Would anyone who is using this software be able to share the settings? I am currently using 35 Wake turbulence (default: 50) and 70 wind turbulence (default 100) as it seems that anything above that makes the aircraft go wild when autopilot is ON. Enhanced turbulence OFF. I posted this on PMDG forum as I think that here I'll be able to find best advice from 737 drivers.
  2. PMDG 747 V3 that is Although I need a second quadrant for that, so before I get it, QW 787 I guess. I also really would welcome any improvement they can make to NGX to bring it up to at least 777 standard texture-wise and runway sounds-wise
  3. @france89: which addon you would recommend for 737 here? TBH default 737 system depth as far as I saw on youtube beta videos and I know nothing about Xplane addons. I don't think there is any that can actually match PMDG including failure modeling, but again - no knowledge here so its just assumptions
  4. No stutter here with road traffic set to 12%, it stuttered with VSYNC enabled, it does not with FPS set to unlimited and vsync set to FAST in NVCP. And it is truly amazing airport.
  5. When you load tutorial flight, what is your current VAS usage? Can you post screenshot of your in-game settings and scenery library? thanks
  6. Hi I read a lot on this forum about both programs, I also know that ProATCX was an ATC tool which was recommended a lot in the past, but this has changed with release of PF3. I also saw a lot of comments in the beginning that PF3 is better for VFR and ProATCX is better for IFR, but lately this trend seem to change. I never saw one definite answer to question which of those programs is ultimately better, but I guess this might be related to fact that different people need ATC tool for different reasons. So I'd like to share more about my SIM and ask you (community/experts) what would be best pick for me. Aircraft: 737 NGX (sometimes 777 but in general - large jets) Co-Pilot: FS2Crew Failures: always ON AI Traffic: MyTraffic 6.0a Regions I fly in: Mostly North America and Europe, but sometimes I do hops to Asia or South America Way I fly: I want to stay compliant with charts, SIDs, STARs, Noise Abatement procedures, approach types, holds etc. - I use my aircrafts to full extent (offcourse my knowledge is limiting factor here but I learn every day). I don't want to always be vectored, but I also don't want to always fly published procedures - I'd like it random (would be best if it would be matched with current traffic density but I'm not sure if any of those programs allows it). What do I expect from my ATC software? I'm not RW pilot so I don't know much about ATC itself. I am familiar with idea of vectoring and flying according to charts but I don't know real world ATC procedures. I read part of PF3 manual and it seems a very straightforward tool, manual seems to be more accessible than ProATCX one. My perfect ATC software would: 1. Control AI Traffic in air and on the ground (it's enough that it does not smash into my aircraft on the ground). 2. Assign SIDs and STARs dynamically 3. Have a built-in profile for 737 NGX with regards to descent rate (or at least programmable) 4. Have ability to assign hotkeys or use command menu built-in sim - I use my sim only in FullScreen. 5. Have ability to control ATC frequency by Co-Pilot but also without a need for him to talk (I have FS2Crew so 2 different copilot voices would destroy immersion). 6. Have not too robotic voice sets available by default 7. Emergency descent and landing options built in including vectors to final in such case 8. Rejected takeoff communication option/Go around communication 9. Communicate with AI Traffic around me 10. Not direct me into mountains like default ATC does when vectoring 11. Accept flight plans from SimBrief 12. Assign departure/landing runways based on weather injected by AS16. 13. Ability to accept visual approaches 14. Easy to use hard to master 15. Transition altitudes matching particular countries requirements (or at least ability to edit that by country or by airport) I'm sorry if some of those features I would like to see are not described in professional manner or seem obvious. Anything extra is offcourse welcomed. 90% of my flights are IFR, but I sometimes like to take Cessna 172 out for a spin and 1 in 5 flights will actually be VFR, so as long as the software will support VFR flights, it would be nice.
  7. Quite impressive. I wonder how much money I had to put into P3D to make it look at least almost like that (and I'm so jealous of that autogen and unlimited LOD) If only PMDG and FS2Crew would release 737 support for that sim...
  8. Is it also better than proatc for IFR? Does it work in full screen or you need to run it on separate window (game beaker for me as I use one screen in full and I think PATC can be used like that? I still need to decide which way to go :-)
  9. I have to say that my environment really improved with this software and you get a freebie - PTA 2.0 preset from Maxime which looks absolutely fantastic and so natural. It's a blast!
  10. LiveATC or Airbus built in ATC chatter (when I "drive" the bus )
  11. That is the issue - "play". Its more a game than a flight sim.
  12. I got really angry when I purchased WAHD and noticed that airports which were enhanced by Aces in default version of FSX were almost not modified by REX team. Few days later I realized they warned about it, therefore my rage was pretty much not necessary... or rather plain stupid. Anyway, those guys know how to keep customer interested. They plan to release those airports in service packs and it seems that they just released SP1 with Salt Lake City airport. http://www.realenvironmentxtreme.com/forums/index.php?/forum/21-software-updates/ I've just spawned on it - it's not FlyTampa or Flightbeam quality but it's definitely a match (or sometimes OP) to some airports in 20 bucks range. Thank you REX team, proud to be your supporter.
  13. BTW, did they release SDK for FS2Crew?
  14. Some of you may saw my post saying I won't buy another addon for P3D until we clarify 32 vs 64 bit. I was joking, you know...
  15. Not sure if anyone noticed, but I'm very glad to see that after months of issues with Saitek equipment availability, finally Logitech delivered the equipment to stores. First units are already available on Amazon and also it came to my attention that some of them are already being send out to customers. Price is also back to normal (60 bucks in U.S.). I'm unlucky as in my country there is still none available yet and shipment from any other country seems to be quite expensive from Amazon, but as soon as they come over I'm going to get Majestic Q400 along with this beauty to finally have appropriate quantity of levers.
  16. It's nothing new and updates are usually released within 2 weeks.
  17. They said the same about switching to Windows 7 at first, same with Windows 10 and same with FSX Steam and same with... What I mean is - everything is for people, overclocking too. If you are reasonable and have some luck you can be successful there. Just read, read & read. I bought a select chip of i5 3570K (pure luck) which clocked from 3,4 GHz to 4,5 GHz on 1,21v (stock is 1,25) -> not clocking it that high would be a HUGE waste, as right now it's performing really great and I don't think I'll need to change it for next 2-3 years. I didn't have that much luck with GPU, yet it was already factory overclocked and I just bumped clocks a bit higher without pushing voltage to the limit. If we are reasonable, we can achieve great results.
  18. That is the issue Sir. It does, but I'm running on GTX 970 which is HEAVILY overclocked and I can't run 2x SGSAA without fps drops. I use 8xQ + 8x Supersampling and it's OK really, even with NGX. Try but first remove it completely for FPS test purposes
  19. that is SGSAA @Dave: awesome initiative.
  20. @Simmerhead - when you say P3D v3.4 should be very good out of the box, still we need to consider this whole limited FPS bs which is implemented in sim to ensure that all textures are properly loaded but results in huge FPS drop. And that is the only reason why I suggest to set FPS to Unlimited and VSYNC to FAST to prevent tearing (that's the only option where you don't tear below your monitor refresh rate and your FPS don't get halved whenever you drop below it). Regarding keeping it simple - I cannot agree more, issue is none of us keeps it really simple after some time @Rockliffe I see and feel your pain. Had the same with FSX DX10 scenery fixer at first. Again, if you don't have problem in other games (that is the question) you should not face problems here if you approach it in right way. Just try default P3D cfg vs default P3D cfg with above ammendments I'm suggesting. If they fail you can always send me to hell I also noted you are using 4x SGSAA and that will KILL your FPS really when you have clouds around. So also, get rid of that. Later on you can apply some supersampling but as its huge fps killer at first we need to see what is really wrong here and I keep believing it's this damned fps cap.
  21. If you turn on FAST VSync and set maximum pre rendered frames to 1 in nvidia CP you will have your issues resolved I believe.
  22. J van E Not so convinced. Xp11 shadows are ugly, clouds too and there is no real PMDG airliner alternative there (nor a2a for GA). Does not look ready to take over p3d yet but it's right dorection. That being said it's definitely more suited to GA pilots now.
  23. That might be true but how to drag new customers attention? Defo not with vanilla 64 bit fsx based sim (unless it's no longer fsx based)
  24. Actually I think we're going in circles here. Few statements/thoughts from me: 1. There is small amount of active simmers but in meantime they are highly demanding, which leads to point no. 2. 2. Addon market is filled with competition and great addons but is in need of more customers. That is caused by no. 3 3. There is lack of new customers because vanilla sims comparing to modern games are technologically in 20th century and when people see vanilla P3D they still remember FSX times (XPlane 11 has a great chance to change it). To increase popularity of genre, someone needs to make investment. That leads to point no. 4 4. To make sim look great you need to spend thousands on great addons. Which results in point no. 5. 5. When you finally made your sim look great you need to spend thousands on strong CPUs because sim is so CPU dependant, GPUs because there is no proper AA and you need to use SGSAA with most popular full HD resolution and SSD drives because P3D needs fast data access. And that causes what happens in point no. 1. If you think about it, it's not only that flight sims are not popular because people are not interested in flying. Many people were not interested in trucking, yet SCS software managed to put their "simulator" on top 10 sales on Steam. Reason is quite simple - it's more accessible money wise. You buy base sim for 20 euro, then spend 20 euro on addons and get plethora of high quality freeware mods because it is easily moddable environment. Obviously, you can't compare amount of work going into releasing one truck vs amount of work going into releasing such complex product as e.g. PMDG 737 NGX, but then again, in vanilla we don't get any plane with decent flight characteristics. And funny part is that in case of ETS2 or ATS freeware stuff is usually OP vs payware (check Promods map which covers whole Europe and they do it for free!) So what will happen next? If LM will decide to release 64 bit sim and break compatibility with old addons, but won't offer anything more within the sim, they won't increase popularity of their product above what we they have right now. Offcourse some of us (if not most) will rebuy the sim but I just don't see myself investing 1k bucks in addons again. By breaking compatibility, P3D will loose their main leverage which is availability of great addons and people will start to investigate other options. Not sure if this will be Xplane 11 or not but they will. I would not count on DTG with regards to great base game, as they tend to release Train Simulator each year having almost same content and packing it with expensive addons, so XPlane might be best alternative. Nevertheless, if people won't get "carrot", sales will not increase and flight sims will remain niche (and for the love of god, they are much more interesting and complex than driving a truck). I am not buying anymore addons until I know what is going to happen in future with our flight simming environment. Kudos to LM if they will manage to repair VAS leak in 3.4 as I am not entirely sure when (and if, although I know that ultimately I will jump over this fence) I'm even going to do the switch to 64 bit. And if I will, I'll need something more than 64 bit vanilla with 60 bucks price tag on it.
