  1. Level of detail radius doesn't do anything on your frames so that can be on max, the same with mesh resolution, put that to 19m and texture resolution to 60cm. Water to low 2x or high 1x cause this hits hard, rate at which weather changes set to off and autogen to sparse and then still the above tips without the frame rates limited, on a low end PC limiting the frames make things more worse. Maybe some fsx.cfg tweaks might help but post your cfg first so we can see what is or isn't in there already. Herman
  2. No, ATC vectors you at a 90 degree angle and then to an angle under 30 degrees depending whether it is an ILS or visual approach. I always let my flight planning software make a plan from the airport center up to the destinations airport center, this way you can always use it, no matter which RWY for start and landing. Herman
  3. Texture max load, LOD radius and some are returned to default every time you make a change in the settings. With your CPU I would leave affinity mask out since FSX needs all the CPU power it can get and with the wrong Affinity mask you'll get the exact opposite. Also leave texture max load at default 1024. Try fiddling with the sliders in FSX to get better frames, autogen hits on the system as well as water settings to high, weather settings; cloud draw distance set it low and cloud density to, no aircraft shadows or bloom, set up NVidia inspector properly and set frame rate to 30 in game. With all of this you can gain a lot but your CPU is a little low on speed, try to find one more fast that fits in the same socket ( they are exchangeable without any software reinstall ). 12 Gb RAM doesn't help FSX, 8 GB is enough as long as it is fast and with a low case latency number. Herman
  4. texture max load doesn't help the scenery in any way, only if you have an add on like PMDG that uses high res textures, it has nothing to do with your screen resolution. Affinity mask is such a thing to, what CPU do you have and to what value did you set it? Herman
  5. Hi Fisheye, you sure have an impressive dll.xml and the only thing I can see is a missing line in the first alinea ( the dll.xml one), the closing line is missing there ( </ Launch.Addon> ) but like JRBarret said, nobody can check it like this, if you open it up with Notepad++ then you will see a lot of signs that are not there now and they are the ones that have to be correct so send your dll.xml to the link he gave to check it out, Herman
  6. set up NVidia inspector according this link http://www.simforums.com/forums/drivers-nv-inspector-fsxcfg-complete-guide_topic36586.html ( to the letter, not only reading it and do other stuff ) and set LOD to 6.5 the way I suggested and let us know how this is doing. The GTX1060 isn't better then the GTX580 on your old system, they both only have 192bit bandwidth. What is the CL of your RAM and what speed? the higher the CL number, the slower the RAM, for FSX it all works together and 16Gb doesn't do anything for FSX since it is a 32bit application and therefore can't use more then about 4Gb of RAM. Herman
  7. Don't you have a dll.xml_before this or that? usually fsx makes a back up when installing something new so you can always go back to that. Use the back up and look in the manual from the add on ( normally the entry for the xml is in there) and edit the xml with notepad manually. Herman
  8. Your new laptop isn't exactly top end to get what you want, 3.5Ghz turbo speed is low for FSX, the GTX1060 has only a bandwidth of 192 bits where the ideal for FSX is 250 or more and this causes some uncrisp scenery to so raising your numbers will only make things worse. Use NVidia inspector and set that up properly for FSX and limit frames at 30 in game and things might get better. You talk about flight level 350 and show pictures from almost ground level? have you ever been on a plane at FL350? you won't see everything crisp any more, far from and most simmers would like to come close to reality, not everything crisp for hunfreds of miles. Herman
  9. I'm not sure I still follow this, first complaining about blurries and not so sharp textures and now willing to raise Textures to 4096 and LOD to 5.0??? this will cause even more blurries as both these numbers will tax your system incredibaly but if that is what you want then this is the way to go; set up everything in the settings as you like and then click the save button and give the profile a name ( you can make different profiles for different types of flying like high flyers or low and slow depending on the type of flyiong you want to do at that moment ), then edit your max load and LOD radius in notepad from these profiles ( not the fsx.cfg ), then after you start FSX load a profile and the numbers will be there but don't touch any setting anymore or they will revert back to default. Herman
  10. hi justanotherpilot; this comes directly from LM's site; Prepar3D is not to be used, offered, sold or distributed through markets or channels for use as a personal/consumer entertainment product. You can find it directly under the table with all the different licenses. To Tecto; now you are talking but don't go with the GTX1060 or that will bottleneck with that CPU, Gigabyte has the Ultra Durable mobo's and they come with a special program to control and OC the system at a very easy way if you don't know how to do it in the BIOS. Herman
  11. They are both basically the same, Lockeed Martin bought FSX rights from MS and renamed and tweeked it into P3D, the only difference so far is that FSX can't use hyperthreading and P3D can. P3D however is meant for professional pilots and pilots in training and doesn't support sim amateurs like us. Maybe you should save until you can afford a good rig instead of this office rig you call a workstation, before 9 years I was the same as you only to find myself already 3 times building a new system and loosing much more money then when I would have build a descend rig from day 1 and loosing lots of time tweeking and cursing the poor performance then I did enjoying flying all kinds of aircraft. ( and with lots off time I literally mean years ). Herman
  12. at least 4 cores, like I said with those specs it won't run 30-40FPS maxed out, it won't even run 10-20FPS maxed out and no PMDG stuff.. BTW; why maxed out? do you want the sim for flying experience or for site seeing? if the last then I have to disappoint you, even with the best add ons you will see that the world in FSX and P3D looks pretty much everywhere the same with some variations? Herman
  13. i7 and a K are the ones you want, K after the number stands for unlocked multiplier and thus means it can be overclocked, no K no OC, RAM if you still can find 2400Mhz and CL9 the more higher the CL number, the slower the RAM. GPU GTX 1070 or 1080 and then maybe you can max all sliders out, with your specs, no were near max. You want a powerfull station for FSX or P3D? count at least 1500 to 2000$ for the rig alone ( big case, not medium, lots of fans and most off all a powerfull CPU cooler. Unless you want to be one of those many guys cutting corners in hardware and keep posting here for the next 5 years complaining how bad your system runs and if somebody can help you tweek it to get it going without blurries and stutters on half slider settings Herman
  14. Do you have OpusFSX or Opus FSI as weather engine? that has such a camera motion to. Herman
  15. Highmemfix comes under Graphics but texture max load 2048?? bring this down to 1024 and you will gain. Herman
  16. You use NVidia inspector and still checked anti aliasing in FSX? http://www.simforums.com/forums/drivers-nv-inspector-fsxcfg-complete-guide_topic36586.html follow this guide for NVidia inspector and things might get better. What scenery complexity setting and autogen setting do you use? default plane or heavy add on plane? Anti virus still running maybe? Windows Defender not disabled? Herman
  17. They should come as folders named after the continents that then can be put in your addon scenery folder and then added to your scenery library like a new scenery would be added. Herman
  18. a bigger LOD only works if you save your settings and then manually with notepad edit the LOD to 5.5 or higher, then start FSX and then in the settings tab load the settings you made and the change will be there, just changing the LOD in the .cfg doesn' work, everytime you start FSX it will return to default 4.5. Herman
  19. If you open the map in FSX, do you see one or 2 ILS feathers ( green color)? try next; tune the ILS 109.5Mhz and then in slew mode back up ( sometimes increase altitude ( F3 and F2 to stop )from RWY 18 to see if the glideslope stays on, if it all of a sudden disappears at about a mile or 2 before the RWY then you have a conflict with the default airport, this happens sometimes with add on airports. The only solution for that is to delete the default airport with ADE and orfan the ILS from default to another place, this will create a new LFLB ADE .bgl to be put in your addon scenery/scenery folder so it will always be below your new add on but above the default numberd folders. Herman
  20. Hi Rockliffe, AS doesn't come with textures, it's only a weather engine like OpusFSX and OpusFSI and if not installed 3rd party cloud and sky textures they both show the default textures and no more then that.REX does have textures but like you say, the REX weather engine is s...t Herman
  21. Hi Mike, FTX global is good but Vector causes heaps of issues difficult to solve, especially with airports. UTX looks just as nice and the ports are way better, with FRX Vector ports are no more then a grey piece of concrete as with UTX they have containers stacked and other stuff so you can actually see it is a port. FTX understands under " support" the solutions given to you by fellow simmers for as long as they don't reveal the truth about FTX which is that it is kind of designed so it won't work with stuff from other developers trying to force you into buying only their stuff, another thing is that every time you open up the FTX central that it will rewrite your terrain.cfg causing a lot of problems with trees and houses on airports, reason is that their terrain.cfg rewrites the render priority from the airport backgrounds in that .cfg from 200.000 to 20.000 ( default LC is 30.000 ) and the lower this priority the lesser the chance you are going to see it and if the airport background if of the typ "maskclass" then they change the "landclassremaptype" from "airport" into "none" which is why you see the trees and houses. I put the FTX central on a far outer corner of my HD so I can never open it accidently anymore and I stopped buying any of the FTX stuff, it just causes to much hours correcting FSX again and that causes a lot of headaches. Herman
  22. If you set the 19m mesh without it is installed then it won't show and the mesh you see is probably 72m. VFR Germany doesn't come with mesh and the screenshots they show from the castle are even with a 5m mesh which doesn't exist anymore unfortunately. The FSGenesis global mesh is absolutely worth its money ( alps are 19m ) but you can also try the free mesh here on Avsim ( just checked it out and it's only 38m worldwide ). The castle in my picture comes from 3D warehouse ( formerly google earth 3D buildings ) which is downloaded with sketchup and then exported as a .mdl and then placed with modelconverterx. Herman
  23. By the way, you tell you have tried the 19m mesh, what do you mean with that? only the in game setting? default FSX doesn't come with a 19m mesh for the alps so you have to get some mesh for that, I use FS Genesis global which is about 25 Euro and is real good, there is also a free mesh for the whole world available here in the Avsim files but I don't know if that is 19m. Herman
  24. Couldn't find another way to post an image here, just copy and paste in your browser Herman https://www.dropbox.com/s/m79sn5otpmsdfq3/Neuschwanstein.jpg?dl=0
  25. I will try tomorrow but have to find out the way first, never posted a screenshot here yet. As for Sketchup, you only have to download the building you wanr with the program and then save it as a .mdl or some extension that modelconverterx uses, for modelconverterx you can use a wizard that lets you place the building on top of a sateliye image and normally the orientation is automaeiccaly good and then save it to a scenery folder in FSX, works real good and easy and enough tutorials can be found on You Tube.
