  1. So after a recent spate of CTDs out of nowhere, I tried this regedit AND I removed GeForce experience at the same time; and today I had a nice, pleasant, hour-long flight with no crashes. Now I'm debating whether to add GeForce Experience back and give it another try, as I really like recording my flights with GeForce.
  2. Okay, anyone who has a similar issue, the solution is to do the RXP GTN panel mod, found here: https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/521969-official-panel-configuration-mods/page/3/?tab=comments#comment-4012914 And then run the A2A panel configurator and add the F1GTN to the aircraft. Now I have my dual G5's and the GTN750 running in perfect harmony, just like in my real Cherokee 180.
  3. Hello, I'm trying to integrate the GTN750 w/ the Siminnovations G5, or the stock panel of the A2A Cherokee (P3D5.2HF1). Honestly either will do at this point. With the flight plan in the GTN it integrates w/ the G5's just fine, so long as I am using GPS. The moment I change the CDI to VLOC, the G5 HSI flashes green needles for a split second and then reverts back to magenta, with the CDI needle on the HSI disappearing entirely. I have the correct NAV frequency in. I've actually tried it with the correct NAV frequency in both NAV radios at the same time, makes no difference. The whole thing is just weird, because the G5 HSI will follow an ILS when I have the ILS frequency in the NAV radio, but only if I have the CDI on the GTN set to GPS, which of course makes no sense. It shows the CDI and the glideslope in magenta, although it is (ostensibly) following an ILS. Meanwhile during all of this, the G5 PDF does nothing. No navigation or vertical/lateral guidance at all. (I have two stacked on top of each other, the top one is the PFD, the bottom one is the HSI). I don't quite know what to do. I've opened the configuration panel and changed settings, currently I have it Connect VOR1/OBS and Gauge Options VOR1, which theoretically is what I want. I would just like to get any VOR/ILS/VLOC indications on the G5s at all. If it helps in diagnosing what might be happening, even though I have the correct NAV frequency set in both NAV1 and NAV2, on the standard 6-pack panel in the Cherokee, the VOR1 indicator does nothing. The VOR2 indicator works. I know this is a lot of info. I'm tired, just got done with a long instrument flight trying to figure this out. Short story: with the CDI set to VLOC, VOR navigation doesn't work. Can't get any green needles on the G5 HSI. Mind you, the GTN knows I'm on the wrong nav source when trying to fly an ILS with the CDI set to GPS - I get the message "Please select the correct CDI for the approach" or whatever. But when I select VLOC, nothing. Thanks!
  4. Hi Jean-Luc, I understand this isn't necessarily within your purview, but what is the latest AIRAC database available in the trainer? Is it still 2004? It seems quite a lot of approaches are getting updated now (perhaps in conjunction with sheet-canning a lot of VORs). For example in August they updated the ILS approach at my home field for the first time since 1999 (more or less). I'd love to have the latest AIRAC cycle. And though this is a question that is definitely not in your purview, perhaps you know the answer: I have a GTN database subscription for the 750 in my actual real-world airplane. Can I update the trainer to the latest AIRAC cycle using that data? Garmin says no, but I figure it's worth asking. Many thanks!
  5. Vatsim is jam-packed in Europe during their daylight hours. Like jam packed. I don’t fly over there generally, but every time I look the continent is basically covered for ATC.
  6. So interestingly, hands down the biggest impact is EA. Turning EA from Ultra to high results in 20-25 FPS going to 50-60 FPS.
  7. Thanks fellas. I dialed a few things back from my usual “visual” setup yesterday and in a very brief VFR flight I was getting 60’ish FPS airborne.
  8. I'm just running into this problem now. Did anyone find a solution? 5.2HF1 EDIT: Re-run the client installer, and choose "repair".
  9. Hi all, I am an avid flight simmer and also a RW GA pilot. I'm currently finishing up my instrument rating. Some developments lately have made it at least conceivable to use "the other" sim for all my needs, which are essentially just fun VFR flying, and hardcore, realistic IFR simming. But I've come to the conclusion that P3D is simply better as an IFR sim, and not a little better, but a lot. In my RW airplane (Cherokee 180) I have dual G5s and a GTN750. I have been able to get both for simming, although the GTN for the "other" sim is not an exact replica by any stretch (the 750 for P3D is an exact replica, based on the GTN trainer). In MSFS I use the Warrior, but in P3D I have the beautiful 180 from A2A. I guess the point of my post is this: since I'm going to use P3D exclusively for hard IFR flights (meaning EA on, with a solid stratus cloud layer a few hundred feet above the approach minimums and 1/2 SM or so visibility), what settings would you all recommend turning down lower to get better performance? For reference I have a 8700K and 1080. I want the plane and clouds (and runway/airport environment) to look as good as possible, but it really makes no difference what mountains look like, for example. I don't really know a whole lot about tesselation and all this stuff, so I'm just not sure what I need to get the desired results, and what I can really do without (car traffic, or example). Thoughts appreciated!
  10. You’re absolutely correct that people have different experiences.I’m feeling quite bad for the many people having issues with WU 6 right now. WU6 is fantastic (after I did some tweaking), but there’s no way to argue that graphics weren’t dumbed down in SU5. The shimmering and popping scenery were just awful. And Asobo admitted it, along with the LOD changes. Then again it depends on what you were flying before. If you were on medium settings, sure, you may not notice. On Ultra since day 1, it was blatantly obvious. And it had to be done to accommodate XBox. Plus if it hadn’t been dumbed down there would be no reason for the graphics updates in WU6. In any event I’m quite happy with WU6. SU5 was just utterly atrocious.
  11. The SU5 graphics were atrocious. Not that it really mattered given that the sim did nothing but crash for 6 weeks.
  12. Here’s the thing: FPS means nothing to me. Zilch. Zip. Nada. I couldn’t possibly care less about FPS. I never checked it once until I was in the SU5 beta and had to. I got a sim that was worse in absolutely every way but FPS. Nah. Not for me. Asobo flat-out lied to us with SU5. They said many times in many different ways that the XBox release would not negatively impact PC users, that they wouldn’t be dumbing down the graphics. They did everything they said they wouldn’t do. I for one will never trust another thing they say.
  13. It’s included in the Sim. It’s a fully customized scenery.
  14. Irrelevant. If you removed half of the pistons from my Ferrari I wouldn’t be excited that it was still better than a Yaris.
  15. Yeah, I believe absolutely nothing Asobo and MS say at this point. Not a single word.
  16. Looking at the XBox implementation and the massive downgrade in PC visuals, that is clearly not a true statement. Nothing g happens in a vacuum.
  17. I am a real pilot and Vatsim is absolutely brilliant. Controllers usually know their local areas and procedures quite well (as all pilots know, regional and local ATC has its quirks everywhere). The guys on Vatsim in the Caribbean sound just like the real thing. It’s an absolutely fantastic service. Can’t recommend it enough.
  18. It was absolutely brilliant up until SU5. Funny thing is, after this post earlier I tried a stutter fix list here on avsim and it worked. Stutters gone. Visuals are still degraded quite noticeably but at least it doesn’t stutter and pause.
  19. Constant, and I do mean constant, microstutters when looking around with TrackIR and a nice long pause every 5 minutes. It’s wonderful.
  20. I have no choice. What was an amazing simulator for me for 11 months is now complete and utter garbage after SU5. I have to wait for SU6 and hold out hope that the sim returns to some semblance of its former self at that point. Right now it is absolutely unusable for me. Pure trash.
  21. They knew about these issues well before last Tuesday.
  22. Only took what, 8 days? I wonder if they spent that time working on the wording.
  23. What is REALLY irritating in this whole saga is that they could have posted this same thing 4 or 5 days ago for the same price. Their communication is and has been just atrocious.
