  1. I'm not sure if it was me but I used the live pause on a flight with the Bonanza the other day and I'm sure that on un-pausing my airspeed had bled off and the plane stalled. The autopilot was in a 200ft climb with heading hold enabled. I've also had a problem on both types of pause whereby the autopilot adds full up pitch trim and causes all sorts of issues; could be related to above. The only answer is to disengage the autpilot, fight the stall, trim back down, and wait for it to 'get a grip' 🙂
  2. You definately need some beefy hardware to run it at Ultra but I'm runnning it on medium on a £700 laptop with an acceptable frame rate. 🙂 My Specs: Lenovo Ideapad 330 Intel Core i7-8750H @ 2.21GHz 20GB of ram (most the laptop wil take) Nvidia GTX 1050 (4GB) Get's pretty hot after a couple hour flight up the US West Coast. About to purchase a laptop cooling mat to try and help that. 🙂
  3. I took the plunge and bought a subscription to Navigraph and I must say it's been fantastic! I can overlay my aircraft on my android tablet, display approach plates, get frequencies and I'm sure I'm only scratching the surface. They've mentioned VFR maps are coming or they are working on them which will match more closely with my play/sim style. All I want now is for Asobo to patch the very underpowered Bonanza and for the laptop ugrade fairies to visit and I'm laughing! 🙂
  4. Hi All I have compiled a PDF based on the figures found in this post https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/how-to-best-practices-to-fly-bonanza-g36/167175 for the Bonanza. The post listed the advised throttle / prop / mixture settings for various altitudes and stages of flight. Hopefully some use for others. Happy to keep updated with any feedback. Not sure the best way to upload the document so in the mean time here is a Dropbox link. https://www.dropbox.com/s/0v51xqifl4ejk6r/Bonanza G36 Speed.pdf?dl=0 (Mod's, hopefully this is ok?)
  5. Awesome, thanks so much! I shall go and do some test flights.
  6. I am loving this sim! I thought I was a pretty good pilot in FSX, apparently not that good! I was just completing leg 2 of my round the world flight in the Beechcraft Bonanza G36. As I started getting established on the localiser I decided to slow early and lower 1st knotch of flaps to ease the workflow before things got busy. (I'm still learning the functions of the G100 etc and wanted to be ahead of the curve.) I lost a little bit of focus when somehow I lost the ILS on runway 30(ish) and ended up near stall speed. The short story was I ended up in an extened stall and crashed on the freeway! I was flying into Reno Stead airport and I am sure that I didn't have enough power in the plane. Do any of you have any idea as to the correct throttle, prop, mixture levels when flying around 7000ft to 10000ft and 24OAT? I am sure it was becasue I was not using the correct TPM settings that I didn't have enough power - i think? The specs on the Bonanza state ceiling of 18,000ft ish so I'm sure it's me!!! Certainly a great learning experience!
  7. I'm totally with you! The abilty to update a pre-existing airport (a bit like the AFCAD editor) would be very helpful indeed; and could lead to a community project.
  8. I've just been looking at Navigraph; 89.99 a year. Is this worth it? Have any of you heard anything about Charts+ with the NavBlue partnership? Not sure I want to jump in when something integrated might be coming?
  9. Has anyone heard anymore about the partnership between Navblue and their Charts+ and MSFS?
  10. Hi All In the good old days of FSX I used to use Plan G to plan my flights; but now MSFS has been released I'd like to take my VFR flight planning to the next level. I've been watching a lot of Youtube videos from real pilots and they are using an Ipad/Tablet app to navigate and find flight data whilst flying. E.g. airport plates, frequencies etc. My most recent flight was fantastic where I flew up the west coast of the US. I arrived at my planned landing point to discover it was covered in low level fog!! What I needed to do was plan for an alternate field, check the weather prior to departure, and have the abilty to find data 'on flight'. Do any of you have any tips, tricks or apps that I can use? I think there is Navigraph? But I specifically want something for VFR not jetliner flight. Any suggestions?? Safe Flying! 🙂
  11. This is awesome! I am definately using this as a basis for my own round world flight! Hopefully I'll bump into some of you on the way!
  12. Thanks so much for all the interest everyone! How about 5th September? Will amend orginal topic if I can.
  13. Think you're right, I was letting my enthusiasm get away from me! 🙂
  14. Me too! So no worries there. I think probably just getting everything organised will be enough, let alone using Vatsim 🙂
  15. Hi All I was inspired by a recent post here in which @will-fly-for-cheese mentioned about a flyover of Asobo Studios in Bordeaux as a celebration of their work. So... Who's in? Would be interested to know your thoughts. When: Flyover 19th August @ 1930UTC (gives us a day to work everything out once we install the sim) Where: Meet online at Bordeaux airport aircraft parking; depending on interest we may need time slots. Initial Plan: Takeoff in any aircraft you want, assemble in the mouth of the river and centered on the Cordouan Lighthouse. To have a measure of control I think the best option will be to have flight levels for aircraft types to deconflict the airspace. Once all participants together we plan to fly following the river down to fly over Asobo Studios at or around 1930UTC. We could work out speeds of travel down the river and arrange everyone to arrive at the same time of we have a long procession depending on peoples preference. Once complete, fly to Arcachon bay and assemble once again for an ordered landing. What do you think? Personally I'd like it to be as inclusive as possible. Questions: VATSIM? Use default ATC?
  16. I think (excuse my dodgy math skills) that will mean a release time of 0500 on the 18th in the UK.
  17. Alternatively; what if they have integrated the both together so you can fly seamlessly between real controllers and offline areas? That would be great!
  18. I'd like to add my own take on some of the negative views listed so far from this thread.(Glass totally full kinda guy) I know the update was a little light on detail but I'm massively excited with the team integrating VATSIM into the simulator. This could be the answer to the slighty dissapointing ATC implementation. My dream; that the integration is seamless, so you can fly in the online session, dropping into and out of controllled airspace with real controllers and then reverting back to MSFS ATC when no real life controllers are present. How cool would that be! A single flight plan, seamless! All we need now is a ground and flight school addon and we are helping new users understand aviation and perhaps creating a place where 'hardcore' simmers would be happy to fly with them. There are many different types of flyers afterall and all should be accepted. As to trees; really not bothered right now. Visually the sim is a massive step change from what we are used to that I will take some scaling issues and live with it. Fair winds!
  19. I'd like to second the above... Also. I'd like to see if they could use their Azure AI (no idea if possible) to throw in some variation to the commands/interactions to make it a little more life like and less 'samey'. Some of the youtube videos I watch of real pilots has the conversations backwards and forwards between tower and aircraft fairly casual. (They are quiet airports however)
  20. The other thing to think about with game pass is that the monthly subscription allows you to download/play other titles as well. My best analogy is its the gamer equivalent of Netflix or Amazon Prime. We use it on the Xbox itself and have been able to play some great games without having to fork out the full cost. Which is great if you're not sure whether you'd enjoy it and just want to give it a go.
  21. 1. A more accurate ATC rendition, perhaps using the magic of Azure AI 2. A flight school / crtitique / coach for flying - great to get new simmers into the hobby 3. Persitent aircraft states from one flight to next with abilty to pre-flight (AKA A2A) and failures to systems based on my care/abuse
  22. I've really enjoyed the C172 for FSX; what have I enjoyed the most? The persistence modelling, I like being able to get in a virtual plane and know I have to check the systems and pre-flight the plane prior to take-off, I suppose this also includes the modelling of being abusive to the systems. If that's modelled in the MSFS aircraft now I will be very happy (i'm not sure it is), if someone; A2A or otherwise develops it; I'd be happy to part with the £££'s.
