  1. Discord is a fantastic service. I use it for BMS, DCS, Pilotedge etc. You get to talk directly to very knowledgeable people, like devs, SMEs etc. A few weeks ago I had a long conversation with a guy on the Falcon Lounge discord that was an active duty F16 pilot. On Pilotedge I regularly speak with the controller's about the exams and they've coached me through lots of challenging tasks on the network. If you can spend a little time learning the UI it's genuinely a great way to interact with the community - especially the more niche servers like PE, Vatsim etc.
  2. Hey all, I'm quite new to civilian flight sims but have a fair number of hours on modules like the Huey, Mi8, F/A-18C and F-14A and B in DCS. I am curious, are the likes of PMDG, JustFlight and the upcoming Fenix regarded as roughly equals to the aircraft in DCS in terms of depth of simulation? I mean things like electrical systems, hydraulics, computer systems etc. I'm not asking which is better at all of course, I'm just interested on a technical level about depth of simulation. I have and love both. I guess it's more my inner-nerd being curious about what's going on below the hood of both.
  3. Ah hadn't seen this - thanks for linking the thread 🙂
  4. I know all we've seen so far is videos, but wow are these videos impressive. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WFgz5yG5f1Q
  5. When the entire ideology at the core of your company is "all constructive feedback is actually unfair criticism" and you have the emotional maturity of an angry 13 year old, I'd guess feedback is never going to be taken too seriously unfortunately. If you compare it to the similarly priced DC-6 they're just absolutely world's apart, quality wise.
  6. I don't know if it's a crusade so much as just discussing a negative customer service experience. Nothing wrong with that.
  7. I'm not sure what "Karen comment" means, but on the whole I think I agree. Looks like these guys won't change, so no more Aerosoft purchases.
  8. I sent the guy that was very rude to me a direct PM saying that if he privately apologises to me I'll happily drop it, but if not I'll exhaust Aerosoft's internal complaints procedure and if it isn't satisfactory raise it with Asobo/Microsoft. I doubt either of them would be too pleased to know one of their partners is openly insulting paying customers. Said person has not responded to me, but has cc'd a manager into the conversation. Will be interesting to see what comes of this. I really regret buying their aircraft now.
  9. Thanks for the advice. I'm 35 so almost, but not quite outside of the millennial bracket! I've raised a complaint anyway. I work with a few very talented German engineers. I love their directness and willingness to give candid feedback - but I won't tolerate being insulted by the Aerosoft developers. I'm generally not really a complainer but these guys really rubbed me the wrong way.
  10. Hi all, I admit first of all that I went to the Aerosoft forums and complained today. I was really unhappy that the CRJ has never really worked well for me, and when I saw a number of topics locked from complaining customers with rude responses I wrote my own. My experience there involved a senior member of the team, and then a developer, mocking me despite clearly being very bothered about spending a fair amount of money on a plane that doesn't work. I was simply a bit upset about an aircraft I bought flat out not working, with no communication. Happy to share the threads I was mocked in, but I'm quite confused. It feels surreal to be openly mocked as an unhappy customer. Is this the norm, or did I hit a nerve? I won't be shopping with them again. I've had the exact opposite experience with DCS modules, PMDG and JustFlight. Here is the thread. I'm genuinely shocked. One of their developers insulted my intelligence then claimed I was bragging when I defended myself. Then openly admitted to insulting customers. I'm so shocked. https://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?/topic/165975-customer-service/ Is anyone able to advise me as to the most effective way to raise a complaint about this?
  11. I think you're correct. Guys in the other forum said they're seeing 1.0.6!
  12. Just saw on their forums whilst I was throwing a hissy fit about their customer service that the new version has just been released. Hope this helps people out.
  13. Thanks for the info guys, I wasn't aware. I hope in the future the rendering channel is activated again. I'd love to fly this aircraft at high fps!
  14. I would like to fly the DC6 more but it cripples my FPS. Same airport and conditions against the JF Turbo Arrow is 70fps Vs 30fps...I get that it's a more complex aircraft, but THAT much more complex? Does this happen to anyone else?
  15. I used to have the CH rudder redals and they were alright. Nothing special but more comfortable than a twist stick. After that I had the TWCS throttle which was pretty crappy. For both of these rudder pedals sets I think I'd have been okay just using the twist stick. After I fell in love with DCS Huey a year ago I bought the T-Flight rudder pedals from VKB. I think these are essentially entry level high end, but wow they make a difference. They're pin point precise, metal, and take up less space than both the previous sets. I wouldn't bother flying without them now, because they add so much to the experience. I think what I'm trying to say is, it's not that rudder pedals are important, it's that good rudder pedals are important. And like TrackIR, you don't know what you're missing til you've tried it. Hope that helps :)
  16. Well, I reinstalled and it was actually much faster than I thought, and the PMDG DC6 seems very nice, but that pop in is a no go for me. I felt like I was playing a PS3 game and it looks really bad. Think I'll stick to DCS til SU6.
  17. Thanks Chock, I'll give it a reinstall. Worst case scenario it'll be fixed soon anyway!
  18. I share bandwidth with others in my house - so I can't go all out on downloading often or everyone else suffers.
  19. Working with software engineers, this place has absolutely nothing on pedantic arguments! It's practically a utopian paradise of agreement...
  20. I'm a developer too and also a fan of this. As long as the ordering makes logical sense (small medium large) or (large medium small) I'm happy 😂
  21. Some reason like the fact it makes sense to start at the smallest unit and move up in size?🙂
  22. It's strange isn't it. I've had to attempt a reinstall before just to view the installation directory location! I'm guessing there's a reason behind it, but given it works fine if you install it elsewhere, I do wonder what that reason is.
  23. I'm not too sure actually - I'm already reasonable well equipped. I'm using the VKB NXT stick, TWCS throttle, and VKB T-Rudder with a Delanclip wireless setup. it does great for me 🙂
