  1. Finally returning to her country of origin, Odin's handmaiden prepares to flex her mighty wings. An early start from Rio. 6 turning & burning. Goodbye Rio De Janeiro. Thanks for the hospitality. There's a large ship below the murk. Early morning sun Flying over MMFJ (miles & miles of f.... jungle) Hello Venezuela! Bye bye South America Hello Cuba! Don't worry Pres. Castro. Nothing to see here! Imagine back in the day an XB-70 over Cuba - Fidel would have had kittens! Descending to Florida Down, dirty & (relatively!) slow over MM... well, you get the picture. Getting vectored around somewhere over the Everglades. On approach to KMIA rwy 12 Down... & down. Another great white bird, although she is known as the Queen of the Skies. Shutdown. Thanks for viewing.
  2. So, a morning start from Dubai, outside temperature's still about 30 degrees C though! I know the Burgh wasn't there in 72, but the apron could have been at almost any airport... & I'm recreating a flight using modern scenery. Some countries weren't as friendly to the RAF back then, so the flight had to be routed north over Bandar Abbas into Iran, then up through Iran, close to Tehran, into Turkey over Lake Van, south of Ankara turning south to go over the Med & Nicosia before landing at Akrotiri. NOTE - online flight planner (my quick and easy go-to) doesn't appear to have much in the way of picking your waypoints and/or VORs so I used the stock FSX flight planner to construct the route. Dubai is rather big, isn't it? There may be trouble ahead..... Nope, over the tops and weather getting better. Lake Van in the background - not the tiny lake below the nose! Feet wet, over the Med Descending over Nicosia Cleared to land! A bit floaty, but the brakes are rather powerful! Off to Marham next! Enjoy!
  3. I appear to have found an excellent 2D panel for Alphasim's free HP Victor:- https://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/files/5550/fsx-handley-page-hp-80-victor-kmk2-upgrade/ Has anyone tried to navigate with the radio stack included in this panel? It only appears to have one frequency and not two interchangeable ones. Not sure if I can tune a VOR or ADF beacon in and fly radials to/from it. I now understand the autopilot, but might have to fudge a GPS into the aircraft to see where I'm flying on an airway etc... as for dialling in an ILS...
  4. I've always had a soft spot for the old Victor & thanks to Virtavia's back catalogue of freeware Alphasim aircraft I can enjoy a lovely looking representation of this fine aeroplane. I have tinkered around with the sound sliders, but the cockpit noise doesn't change even with the sliders un-ticked. The environmental noise appears to be coded into the model somehow... and it's too loud I've read about people using headsets and separating the sound from PC speakers (ATC etc.) but I'm happy for now with all the other aircraft in my collection. Any ideas please?
  5. Hello all, Another "searching for" post of mine again (Seem to be doing that a lot lately, or have a very niche FS taste). Is there anyone out that that knows of a paint kit for the Virtavia A-6E Intruder? Or, even better, does anyone know where I could find repaints of the following squadrons: VA-36 Roadrunners VA-42 Green Pawns VA-85 Black Falcons VA-176 Thunderbolts I would be most appreciative (those squadrons have family ties with me and it'd be wonderful to be able to get my hands on them). Thanks!
  6. Hello, I was woundering if anyone know of(or wants to) create a libyan airforce or similar repaint to the virtavia Tu-22 blinder. It is such a wounderful and unique aircraft(despite its rumours) And i am a little dissapointet virtavia (or alphasim then) only made one default soviet paint for the airplane. Just woundering if there are any others out there like me that are interested in seing repaints of this rare airplane. Last picture is the virtavia fsx tu-22 model

  8. Hello all. I am new to the forums but i have been simming for a while. I have a problem that is driving me crazy. I have been trying to adjust the fuel flow of my Alphasim UH-60 and CH-46 to more realistic levels. I have adjusted everything. I have tried fuel_flow_scalar, fuel_flow_gain, PowerSpecificFuelConsumtion, ratetd_shaft_hp, etc... all to no effect. I have modified the air files, copied the config information from the the Acceleration Default EH-101, but nothing is changing. Is there something about fs9 aircraft that cause them to not work properly in FSX? I would pull out my hair if I had any. I have searched the forums, google, and every other place I could think of. Its been pretty much two years of off and on experimenting and I finally figured I would ask directly. Is this something that cannot be fixed? Is anyone else having issues with this? It seems like I spend more time tweaking now than flying. I'm about ready to give up. Losing my mind
  9. Just had to take the Victor (prototype colours) out for a short, leisurely hop from Manchester over to Ronaldsway on the Isle of Man. 250 kt at about 4000 feet VFR. Thanks for looking.
  10. Mid-morning flight from Akrotiri with the Victor back to RAF Marham. She's rolling! Love the smoky climb-outs! We're all friends over Europe now, so straightforward flight over Greece and roughly diagonal to Holland. Bye bye, Holland! Hello England! Hello Marham! Weather was good enough for VFR to runway 6, despite some turbulence and thunderstorms in the distance. OOPS! "A bit late on the round-out, Hoskins!" as they say. Down! She won't fit in those hangars... Like bouncy castles gone wrong! Oh, nice formation parking from the fuel trucks. Right lads! Whose turn is it to get the brews in?... Ah, it would be mine due to the dodgy approach Thanks for viewing!
  11. FSX:SE, HD airport upgrade by Zinertek, up to date freeware EGCC AFCAD, freeware Airport Hotel Manchester, freeware Alphasim Victor with UKMIL prototype paint scheme. Barman! 5 pints of your finest British ale for me and my crew. Chop, chop. Thank you. Awesome jet which first flew in 1953. The best looking of all the V-bombers. No argument that the Vulcan is the most iconic of the 3 and is a beauty in its own right, but the Victor was something else. Shame about the terrain artefact, will have to look into sorting that out :(
  12. The homeward journey; return from the Lone Ranger flight to Singapore. Instead of Gan to Masirah, we go from Gan to Dubai. The runway at Masirah isn't long enough for the uptake of fuel we need to reach Akrotiri. Dubai has a huge runway Early morning takeoff from Gan Climbing out - smoking power! Uneventful flight around M0.9 over MMFO and MMFD. Where are those airfields you ask? Well, the first one is miles & miles of.... Water. The second is the same but .... desert. This might have originated with some RAF crews during the Gulf War when our US friends were asking the whereabouts of the RAF jets. "Oh we're just passing over MMFD". If it's not true, it's a good story! Touchdown in Dubai Thanks for looking!
