>what are your favorites and why ? >>General Electric. Why ? Well, only N1 indication on the EICAS (no EPR). I haven't still figured what EPR is and how to use it.And to me the Rollers look like old turbojet engines (or like hairdryers).

Good Question! For me it's a tie between the GE and RR engines. PW are nice but I just don't use them that much.GE for the ease of operation (Although I dig the EPR thing, N1 is a more intuitive measure of thrust for me). RR for the wonderful sound at takeoff, plus it's the blower of choice for British Airways, who are my main VA at present.

I usually develop a severe rash when exposed to anything other than Rolls-Royce. My physician has advocated small exposures to the GE variant to build up tolerance- which I atttempt with the occasional flight using the "Jet Lift" call sign. I am petrified at the thought of what a Pratt exposure would do to me!;) Best-Carl F. GE. Why you ask? I don't like the look of the RR engines, and a friends Mom used to work at GE. Simple enough decision even if it has absolutely nothing to do with aviation.

lol.. Carl,Agreed, RR all they way, love the RB211.. the sound it makes and the sleek look with the exhaust blended into the nacelle casing.. I suffer from the same problem as you being a Brit. Actually, for me it's not just the engines, if the A/C isn't White, Red and Blue I break out in a cold sweat. As for P&W exposure... Further research must be completed into the potential risks to the likes of us before we dare to take one of those out..CheersCraig

From maintenance point of view.GE would take the first place, PW second. And well...RR third place.Working on RB211 is like trying to fix your car engine without popping the hood.regards, delcom

Rolls Royce - beautiful look, and a lovely, distinctive sound (especially that signature "whistle")! Also the engine on most of the Qantas 747-438 fleet and British Airways exclusively.
