Yep, flew in IRL until medical issues forced me out of the cockpit. Weather and atmospheric’s are my biggest issues with this sim. I use ActiveSky but just in passive mode, for the turbulence and wind effects, but use live weather in sim for the rest as active mode can result in abrupt weather changes. I don’t think Ive ever had to deviate around weather in either 2020/24., thunderstorms are pretty much non-existent. You see the odd lightning bolt, but only cotton ball clouds associated with them, not towering cumulonimbus clouds. Sometimes i’ll pop on over to that other sim just to experience that feeling of having to actually take notice and act on weather events, rather then not giving you no what because i know nothing will happen.

I have never used V/S for the climb, always have used VNAV. I do use it for descent when there’s not so many constraints or just want to manage manually, but no never for the climb. You definitely have the autothrottle on ?

Go and have a look at the tone at which that person replied with, they deserved every bit of it. If it was from a company selling a product then you might have half an excuse, but these are people building this in their own time trying to improve this hobby for our enjoyment. What has that person done to try and improve this hobby rather than abuse ? Again, build one yourself Superstar !

Have got back into this product after a while away. Have done 5 flights, and every time i include SIDS/STARS in the flightplan it has worked well. Everytime I haven’t included them, it has gone haywire, vectoring me in completely illogical directions. Love the Live Traffic though, nicely done.

You’re right, i don’t think Ive ever deviated left or right of track due weather because i know i’m not going to get punished, don’t even plan for it.

Spot on with the above Ryan. You forgot one thing though, weather radar ! Weather is such a massive part of flying and yet it’s one area where MSFS is really lacking, you don’t even have to bother planning for it when flying this Sim. They seem to be more concerned with ‘pretty rocks’ and missions rather than get the basics right, which is why I look at it more as a game than a Sim.

Had the same thing happen yesterday.

Numerous, one day it's something, next day something else. For example today, flight in the PMDG 777, park brakes won't release. Yes i've researched, simple/realistic, bindings, nope they just won't release. Yesterday's flight worked perfectly, yet nothing changed, haven't touched a thing. Previous flight weather not corresponding to airport conditions, way out. Previous day, no settings changed yet today, back to normal. It's just not consistent, i can't get into the aircraft and fly without something, anything going wrong. It's becoming frustrating beyond belief. Edit: Shut the Sim down, rebooted it tried again, guess what, it works now. This happens constantly, tell me there's nothing wrong with this sim.

No it’s not hyperbole, it’s pure frustration. I won’t go into specifics, i will work through the issues myself. If you can’t admit issues and turn a blind eye, you will never move forward.

Graphics great, flight model......., weather........., rest of it......... I spent a week on the other sim and had zero issues. Plug in, fly. I went to the other one because there is just nothing but issues with this one. Came back after a week, voila ! Back to issue after issue. I don't think there has been a flight in the previous 20 where i have got in and there hasn't been an issue with SOMETHING ! This isn't meant to be an us vs them thing, i just needed to rant because this is becoming SO frustrating. Rant over, happy flying everyone.

Their not wrong about the weather though.

Someone mentioned earlier on that it might be the textures for 2020 not working well in 2024. Initially when i got 2024 it was butter smooth, worked beautifully. Now i have horrible stutters especially when I arrive at airports to the point where i can’t fly anymore and have gone back to 2020. Not in the beta, all i have done is add airports, some 2024 exclusive some not. So i am going to start experimenting by only using 2024 airports exclusively and see what happens.

Just out of curiosity, was LPFR solely an MSFS2024 airport , updated from MSFS2020 to 2024 or solely a MSFS2020 airport but used in MSFS2024 ?

No not the beta, but i have read further back someone saying they did. Anyone want to confirm?

I have 2024 but have gone back to 2020 due to the FPS Tanking arriving at airports. So until that’s solved, its a no go for me.

Focusing on things like career mode, ugh, when two of the fundamentals in AI Traffic and Weather are not up to scratch. I jumped to one of the other sims recently and it was so nice to plan for weather avoidance, deviating left and right of track around thunderstorms. This was the norm for a sim developed 20 years ago, what happened?

Spot on. Weather is a huge part of aviation, how this is neglected is beyond belief.

Second that.

I think FS2crew is worth it, i usually don't fly the jets without it. It takes the workload off, for example on takeoff the F/O will take care of the gear, flaps when you call for it. I have a checklist in excel format specifically designed to work with FS2Crew. Does have tests in it but you can easily skip over those or delete them yourself. If your interested let me know.
