February 6, 200620 yr I love it and hate it. I have it working with the jets, but for the life of me I can't get it to work with the mixture on props. Not even for a single like the bonanza. I set up the levers in FS for mixture, but nothing moves in teh plane. It also doesn't seem to register in the FSUIP. Now, even if I select the mixture on the yoke it doesn't work. Also, I can't get the buttons to program. I guess I am an idiot. Never had problem with the other ch product I have. Yoke, pedals, fighter stick, and fighter throttle. Any suggestions? Thanks,Scott
February 6, 200620 yr This probably is not what you want to hear, but I and many others have been doen this frustrating path. I finally invested in the Elite King Air Throttle Quadrant. What a dream, metal frame and everything works out of the box with only minor calibration. The part you're probably not gonna like is the 299 price tag; but you get what you pay for. It's perfect for Aeroworx B200 folks. http://www.flyelite.com/hardware.php?product_id=17
February 6, 200620 yr This is not a hopeless cause. You need to go to The Stickworks site and get a few items from Bob, that make setting the CH up a very easy task. Of course you need the Control Manager sofware from CH. Then go to Bob's site www.stickworks.com and download the program called CMFS utility. All your problems will be solved. I can't see spending $300 on an item that has 10x less the control that the CH Quad has. I'm sorry to the poster, but that was bad advise IMO, when the CH Quad is a great add-on for MSFS. I don't know is Bob views this forum, I'm sure he does, but if he doesn't reply to this and you need additional help (he's a great guy, helped me a bunch) go to "the other forum" and call for him in the Hardware forum or just email him from his site. Ooorrrrr, I may be able to help you, i've setup my pro yoke, peddals and quad. hope this helps,Dan K
February 6, 200620 yr Search this forum... There is a simple solution. Its to do with the sensitivity settings in FS9. They are out of wack as default. so the 5th lever will not even register in FSUIPC.Menu, Options-->Controls-->Sensitivities.So push all the null zones to the left settings andall the lever's sensitivity to the extreme right.Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
February 6, 200620 yr <>HUH????????? I now have a fill PFC digital rig but used to fly elite and know that their hardware is far superior from a "look and feel" point of view. I am not knocking CH and their products are better than nothing but they are "toy like" plastic whereas both Elite and PFC products are full metal, realistic looking, industrial strength quads. The Elite King Air quad has several inches of control lever "throw" instead of an inch or two on the CH and has realistic, red/white stripe Reverse and Feather ranges, plus dentents. The CH has a few more buttons but you can assign any keyboard key to do whatever the litte, equally unrealistic CH buttons do so no big deal there.Another issue I have with the CH is that the levers heights are all the same instead of the props being lower in height than the throttle and the mixture being lower than the props. With the CH levers at the same height, you have to use just your thumb and a couple of fingers whereas in the Elite and my PFC rig you can grab the throttle leveris in your fist (realistically) and move them through their entire range and not hit the prop or mixture controls. So,for only about $100.00 more than the CH six lever model you get a significantly more realistic look, heft and feel along with detents and Reverse/Feather ranges.Different strokes for different folks but favorably commenting on the Elite (or PFC) rigs is certainly not "bad advice."Regards,Jimhttp://flyelite.com/images/repos/quadrants...rquad_large.jpg
February 6, 200620 yr While I own the CH model, if you're only flying the King Air, then the one you recommend may well serve. For myself, I prefer the ability to modify the quadrant to fit the A/C. For two engines I can have the throttles on the first two levers and props on the second two. Or for the DC3, the first two for the props and the second two for the throttles. If I'm flying a four engine A/C, I can do a number of things, two levers controlling the four engines and two for the props (with FUSIPC), or, throttles for each engine assigned to one lever with the other two controlling props. Since mixture in many A/C is automatic, no need to assign levers to those functions. So as mentioned, each one to his own, but I change A/C very often and set the CH control to fit the plane.
February 6, 200620 yr I understand your frusstration, I spent a whole bunch of time until one of the posts said to go to sensitivities and make sure ALL levers ar set to full and null to minimum, but you have to use the up/down slider on the right side to get to the prop/ mix levers, once that was done, I could go to FSUIPC (reg) and set everything........works like a charm!! Hopes this helps, thanks again to the guys that solved my delema few weeks back RRL
February 7, 200620 yr Jim, Sorry, I guess that was a little harsh. I just ment that to tell a guy who just spent $170 -/+ on a flightsim hardware to dump it and get something that cost $300 was "not an answer" I would want. I'm very well aware that Elite makes some great products. But for the Hard-core simmer who doesn't want to build a cockpit or spend $1000s to get a great setup, the CH line is by far the best setup around, and with Bob's Stickworks utilities you can have a very simple and multi-config setup. Anyway, I didn't mean to come across like that....peace ?? :)Dan K
February 7, 200620 yr Author Thanks, Dan.I will try Bob's site and give it a go. I already set my sensitivity to max and null zone to 0, so you understand my frustration. Thanks again, and I'll update this post if I have any more questions. Scott
February 9, 200620 yr Author Well... after working with it for 4 nights, I have now made it a $160 paper weight.I have tried with and without the control manager, with and without the downloads on Bob's site and with and without the Fuicp. It simply boggles my mind that no other CH product causes any issue. Levers and switches are just that! Why does FS treat them different? The fighter stick, fighter throttle, yoke, and pedals caused no issue. Just to get my yoke's throttle, prop and mixture levers working again I had to delete my FS9conf. :-mad SincerelyScott
February 10, 200620 yr Make sure that fs9 itself isn't changing your axis settings. I found that once I set everything and exited out, that sometimes the settings would still revert back. The one that always got me was the reverse axis. One mixture would always reverse for some reason. What I had to do:-Go into the sensitivity settings and set max sensitivity and no null zone-Go into the axis settings and assign every axis you want, and make sure that the reverse axis option is not checked-Now exit the controller menu. Now, go back once more and do it all over again! It worked for me at least. For some reason, the settings didn't "stick" the first time. After that it has been perfect. Once you go back into the controller menu and see everything is fine, calibrate everything using fsuipc. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
February 11, 200620 yr Author Well, I gave it a shot again last night and found the best thing for me was to completely leave the CH software off the computer. I have things working pretty well no. The only hicup still is I am only able to assign one lever to control mixture. If I assign two then neither work. Who knows????Anyway, I will fiddle with it a little more today and see if I can't get it all in order. Thanks to all those that replied.Scott
February 11, 200620 yr I don't use the CH software at all either, mine works just fine once you get it calibrated. Again, check for any axis that have the reverse option checked. Like I said before, double check all the settings as fs2004 might be changing them to something else. That's what happened with me. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
