December 9, 200619 yr Muskego Wisconsin...LOL...Thank you for taking the time to post...your specs are set for the next generation... pretty much the exact system I was thinking of moving to...GOOD JOBI am waiting until the second generation Vista machines and the ACES multicore patch...first...that being said..Im dying to see where you are at... now......Here is what I would like to know...and Im sure you do to....Throw everything at it...all on right...traffic...sceneray...then fly over the worst city..which appears to be New York..(although my frame rates around Seattle arnt to go either)...thermals on...yada yada....and lets see how slow you can get it...how much bleed on the sceneray load as well...are you still at 5 FPSfly like you had a double shot of crown royal with is ahot of JD after....I am assuming you are on at least 2 monitors...crank it....Im basically looking for the worst case synario...and what you think...So the real question is ...is your system good enouph.. or do I wait a year and wait until the 45NM technology hits..also rough feel of your out of pocket...if thats not to personal...thanks for your time...jareth

December 9, 200619 yr OMG, this is a powahouse! I'm sure FSX performance will be . . . underwhelming at best. When the various service packs, DX10 and Vista come along you should be good to go tho. I hope to #### ACES ports FSX to multicore rigs. THen we can have a jolly good time for alot of years ahead. December 9, 200619 yr Good to see that Asus striker ext board out. It's been getting plenty buzz. Now to see some hard FSX numbers.scott s..
December 9, 200619 yr Manny - Can you let me know your system specs so that we can all know what to compare my results and your results to.Thanks for the replies guys. I will try to test everyone of your queries.I also got the 24" Dell monitor. I got one as they are big and only one will fit on my desk.I will post the results hopefully next weekend. This PC should be red hot but questionable with FSX. Unfortunately this is the simulation ACES have dumped on us so we have to make the best of it. I did not get it primarily for FSX but as I haven't updated for 3 years I thought it was time for a "Next Gen" upgrade and could not wait any longer. Plus its Christmas so throw logic thinking out of the window and have some fun!I also got 3D Mark 2006 with the 8800GTX so should be able to show the results from that as well.Keep the requests coming and I will be back on next weekend.Jeez I can't wait!CyaP.S. If anyone else is thinking of getting the CM Stacker 830, be warned it is one BIG case. Basically it is double the size of a standard case! Oh and the 8800GTX is about 11" long so this is partially why you need the big case. Cooling results will be interesting as well.

December 10, 200619 yr >This PC should be red hot but questionable with FSX.I'm glad you understood this before you get your new rig - three out of your four cores will essentially be doing nothing while FS runs - and that you have other uses planned for this beast. December 10, 200619 yr >>This PC should be red hot but questionable with FSX.I'm glad you realize that. I'm afraid a lot of people will upgrade to a 4 core or 2 core and think they are going to automatically get awesome FS performance. The CM Stacker is a great case. I presently have my rig inside a CM Praetorian, the little brother of the stacker. Or maybe I should say distant cousin...I really like your build, the components you picked. I do not know much about the new Asus striker mb's, so it will be interesting to hear what results people get with those. As far as testing in fSX goes, I'd like to see a big city such as New York, with pretty much everything full right as a baseline reference.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2530 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
December 10, 200619 yr Hi MannyI just built a new system with Intel 6700, ASUS P5N32-SLI SE DELUXE, 2GB Corsair memory (800) and 2 WD Raptor 10000 rpm 16 MB cache and one 8800 GTS card. 2 more GB of memory are waiting for Windows Vista and than I will buy another 8800 GTS for my Matrox Triple Head to Go. I have a 6 monitor system for FS9 and FS X. FS9 is just a rocket and FS X is OK with the sliders in the middle.I would like to OC my Intel 6700 to 3.40G (my CPU fan has limits)!Where can I get any instruction how to do that and mesure the results (Forum, ASUS Homepage, ??)?Thanks Peter>My System is>>Core 2 duo E6600 (OC from 2.4G to 3.45G)>ASUS P5W DH Delux MB>2Gig Corsair 6400 Memory. December 11, 200619 yr Hi Peter,You could simply hit the "del" key after you boot and when in Bios.. go the CPU frequency and increase it to 20% and and F10 (save and exit) and thats it.. you would get 30% more out of your processor. You could take it to 2.9G or so without a sweat using stock fan and stock Voltage. But if you want to take it a lot further you have to do your due dilgence.I was reading the customer reviews for your MB here... some of the folks are saying that you MB may not OC well. Not sure.http://www.newegg.com/Product/CustRatingRe...agesize=&Page=2Well anyway....There are some websites where I printed their thread and read through them. Its here in this link.http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...ing_type=searchAlso read this. It may not be your motherboard. But it gives a nice step by step instructions for overclocking an nforce 680i sli MB.http://www.nvidia.com/docs/CP/45121/nforce...verclocking.pdfIf you are going to increase your CPU voltage more than 1,4volts.. you have to assume that risk yourself. but no matter what.. do not increase the CPU voltage more than 1.578v infact, anything more than 1.45 is kind of risky. I could go all the way to 3.2Ghz with 1.45vIt has a diminishing returns after that. You have to increase the voltage a lot to get a few more processing cycles. and also your temperature could go real high. Keep an eye on it. if it goes more than 55deg-60deg C with your CPUs working 100%, throttle it down. If you are going to increase the voltage beyond 1.45v, I would recommend a custom cooler. not matter what.. you should be prepared to replace the CPU and/or MB. If you can take that loss, then you can push it. I mentally prepared myself to trash the CPU and MB for education and knowledge. That was my approach. :(If you think about it, I spent almost $3000. and the MB+CPU comes to around $500. As a percentage..its only 1/6 the cost that I was risking. IF you don't feel like spending that amount I suggest be conservative and stay below 3Ghz.Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
December 11, 200619 yr I reckon Manny's rig will give similar, or even better, FSX results than the OP's, as he has the same GPU and his OCed core speed is faster (and only 1.2 cores at most are used with FSX anyway!).Gary 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11
