March 7, 200719 yr Just a heads up if anyone is inerested in the Triple Head 2 Go device form Matrox, e.g. me, then they have just announced a digital version. I.e. support for a digital signal path rather than purely analogue as with the normal unit. Also provides the ability to manage the bezel issue by offsetting the displays.Details... http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/gxm/prod...igital/home.php
March 8, 200719 yr Nice! I wonder how much it's going to cost? It won't be available until the 2d Qtr (Apr-Jun) though but it's something to look forward to for sure. Thanks for the heads-up.Best regards,Jim
March 8, 200719 yr Shoots.. I have been waiting for widescreen monitor support.,.. not this time..Thanks though.Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
March 8, 200719 yr I have TH2G and still wonder honestly what is the visual diff between analog and digital? I mean, I just don't know 'cos I just don't see it. My TH2G images are stupendous, huge, crystal clear and bright--on analog. The bezel manage feature looks nice!JS Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
March 8, 200719 yr In answer to my own question, how much is it going to cost, I saw over at the guruof3d.com website that the estimated cost will be $329. (In case anyone is interested).Ciao,Jim
March 8, 200719 yr I've been watching for this product to be released as well, but I'm a little confused as to whether this will worthwhile giving my current setup. I have a Samsung 19'' WS (941BW) with a native resolution of 1440 x 900. I also have a Radeon X1300. Reducing the resolution to 1280 x 1024 is not preferred since the picture quality is noticeable weaker.Looking at the Matrox site and the max supported resolution I find that it is 2880 x 900 for my GPU in triple head mode 2D, for 3D it is 2400 x 600. Does that mean I can only use 2 monitors (2 x 1440 x 900)?One last question - do all 3 monitors have to be the same specs? E.g., could I used 2 17'' monitors on either side of my 19'' monitor? Thanks in advance,Chris
March 8, 200719 yr $30 more than the analog - I'll wait. Besides I need to get another 19" Viewsonic - and rebuild my computer / FS workstation.Boy I could really impress my boss with a spreadsheet 3,000 pixels wide.Of course the gaming question I have to ask is - is the Triple Head better from a performance factor than uisng WideView and two, or three computers?
March 8, 200719 yr Commercial Member I definately have this on my "To-Get" list. I had always thought of creating a WidevieW setup until I saw the TH2G come on the market. Where as the WidevieW way has advantages of having more monitors in a wrap-a-round fashion, I shutter when I think of the up-keep.Your overall performance will only be a good as your weakest link, i.e. your slowest computer. I would, like most, use up all my "older" pc's to create the system. My oldest system being an Intel 2.8. Just think if you had to go out and buy SIX top of the line systems to run FSX!? Yikes. Also, you have to install and run and maintain seperate installs of flight simulator on each pc, AND for each add-on you purchase you will have to buy multiples of them (if you are going to stay legal). Any tweak or change you do on one you would have to do it on all of them. I have enough problems with just keeping one pc running. Ha!But with the TH2G it's just one PC and from what I have read from other posters, it doesn't have to be the best system in the world to do so with great results. So I am pretty sure I will go with te TH2G, probably the new digital version because you also get that custom adjustment to match up monitors to make them appear seemless.Clutch Intel i9-12900KF, Asus Prime Z690-A MB, 64GB DDR5 6000 RAM, (3) SK hynix M.2 SSD (2TB ea.), 16TB Seagate HDD, Gigabyte GeForce 5080 RTX, Corsair iCUE H70i AIO Liquid Cooler, UHD/Blu-ray Player/Burner (still have lots of CDs, DVDs!) March 8, 200719 yr Author Also, with WideView, since you are running different instances of the same flight, the clouds don't line up etc. I.e. a cloud moving off the the left of the forward view wont appear on the left view monitor. With the TH2Go, it will since it's the same viewport output. You also have the use in other simulators as well, i.e. something other than FS that doesn't even support multiple monitors or views.
March 9, 200719 yr I have TH2Go and love it. Well, I had it. It has been sent back to Matrox for repair and now, I feel like Charles Lemberg looking through that periscope in the Spirit of St. Louis.I promise that if you get it, you will never want to give it up.BTW - Does anyone know if IR Track works with the TH2Go? Put the two together and...look out. I would be ready to dogfight with the guys at Fighter Ops. LOLJohn JohnMy first SIM was a Link Trainer. March 9, 200719 yr Commercial Member I have read other threads where the TrackIR does work with the TH2G. Off subject - another item(s) you might want to try is the Buttkicker and the Audio FX headset. I bought these on a whim at Christmas and at first I thought is was just quick novelty... I would use them a few times then put them away. I tell ya, I know can't fly without them just like my TrackIR. Not as big of a WoW factor at first like TrackIR (or TH2G I imagine), but when you adjust just right you feel the bumps, shakes and vibrations like in a cockpit (or a good resemblance). Especially on takeoff and going over runway cracks or ground light bumps. Oh, and the roar of the engines on takeoff or the pounding of the landing gear on contact with the ground goes right through your body. Now when I don't have it on I miss that little extra immersion.I even plan to buy a second one and connect to my Yoke to get the vibration and bumps in my hands and arms. March 10, 200719 yr How does the ButtKicker connect into the sound system, Clutch? I have a SB Audigy 4 and was looking at this a coupla months back. (I see other systems out there, too, but TH2Go comes first, though!). . thanks. . i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
March 12, 200719 yr Commercial Member Paul, I have the Audigy sound card as well. You can either connect it to your audio out (green connection). I used a splitter so one connection would go to my SFX Headset and the second would go to the Buttkicker amplifier. I actually have it now going to an audio box where I can select if I want FS sound to go to my headset or to my speakers. Simple install really Or you could connect it to your sub-woofer output if you have something like a 5-1 sound system, after all, that s really what it is... just a big ol' subwoofer but instead of a speaker cone it generates the energy through your chair. With your "home built" cockpit, you should post a screenie. :) Intel i9-12900KF, Asus Prime Z690-A MB, 64GB DDR5 6000 RAM, (3) SK hynix M.2 SSD (2TB ea.), 16TB Seagate HDD, Gigabyte GeForce 5080 RTX, Corsair iCUE H70i AIO Liquid Cooler, UHD/Blu-ray Player/Burner (still have lots of CDs, DVDs!)
