Well thats pretty sweet bro. I look forward to seeing some more results once you really get to stress test it in FSX. I think you can bump up your settings more though. My settings are per NickN and most is maxed out except water i think. I can avg 20-25FPS when i'm not at a busy airport (unlocked framerate)

Hi,My old system was an Asus Striker Extreme MB with an X6800 Extreme processor. My video board was an MSI ATI 3870X2, I had 6gig of Corsair dominator DDR2 ram at 1142 MHz.FSX Performance was so bad I kept using FS9 maxed out.The frame rates fluctuate, but I do not see any studder.

So the frame rate doesn’t fluctuate rapidly from say from 30-50 to 80-100+?This would have to be a first because I don’t know any Core 2 Quad Core or i7 user that hasn’t had to lock the frame rate in FSX to get smooth consistency. Quick question, what were you using before, spec wise. Before you built the i7 setup were you running FSX using NickN’s guide on a clean OS, if so what OS?

Now I see why you are impressed with the results so far with your new specs, I thought you were coming from a higher end Quad Core with DDR3.

Took you long enough to Bin Fs9.If you ever get stutters that are so bad you cant shake them, then time to start using affinitymask to disable cores. makes things smoother.Till recently i had been using only last 2 cores of i7920 @3.8Ghz.But am back on 4 cores testing out the idea that my stutters were caused by Max Texture Load = 80. i set it back to 40 but yet to test.

Hi,Well, the overclock is done. I'm currently running at 3.8ghz. @ 67 degrees. I'm running a test flight from KJFK to KMIA, FPS are locked at 30 and are staying there. So far it looks great.

Hi,Well, the overclock is done, but I'm not done tweaking. Locked at 30 on a Q9650 is great, although I don't know what your setting are as well as type of addons that are installed. Lets see some screen shots at KJFKKJFK is incredible on this system, Between REX and Ultimate Traffic II. All I can say is W O W...

Now you right back to where I’m already at (locked at 30) with an overclocked Q9650 using NickN’s guide.

I use the FSX settings that NickN recommends in his guide. My FSX install includes GEX (USA/Canada), UTX (USA,Canada,Europe) and REX.I also have FTX Australia from Orbx but I use different settings when I fly using this add-on.

Here are some screens I took a few months ago with the Q9650/Rampage Extreme when I was still using the GTX 280 FTW. They were originally taken at 1920x1200 resolution. fsx7.jpg200941114522421.jpgfsx8.jpgfsx9.jpgfsx6.jpgfsx5.jpgtas7.jpgtas1.jpgtas6.jpg20094113452390.jpg
