June 12, 200916 yr Author Hi Guys,Well, I changed TIM from OCZ Freeze to AS5, I'm at 4147Ghz. (143x29). The max temp I've seen is 70. I think this is as far as I'm going to push it, unless I decide to go back to water cooling.I will begin installing all my addon airports and AES next, I'll get some shots of FSDreamteam's KJFK tomorrow. From what I've seen so far, I think the armchair airline pilots can make the move to FSX now instead of waiting. The weather has been so bad around here the past two days. The screen shot below is of KJFK. I used the settings listed on page one with one exception, I set Autogen back to max.Ultimate Traffic II is set as follows: Commercial Traffic = 31 / GA = 5I'm getting 41.7 FPS. If so, that's a wow. Can't wait to see what 1.35v and a 20 deg water cooling system will do. 4.5 gigs may be in the realm of possible.Mike, is your 285 overclocked at all, or is it running at stock (648 MHz)?Unfortunately, I have to wait until next week. Newegg d*cked around with my order and was a day late getting it shipped, so I lose the weekend now. June 12, 200916 yr Hi Bob,It came overclocked from BFG, Its running at 705MHz.MikeIs your voltage still stock? Or "Auto"? If "Auto", then the BIOS is not on stock settings: it's just that the BIOS is choosing what non-stock setting to use. This is typically a rather conservative estimate and you might be able to lower it a bit by using manual settings. You can check the voltage from Windows using many different tools: try CPU-Z. The voltage setting in BIOS is usually a little bit higher than the one which "shows up" in Windows: this is normal, but it does make finding the right voltage to set in the BIOS a little tricky. The voltage which matters is the one shown in CPU-Z.There are two reasons for checking. First, if you feel your temperatures are too high, you could try setting the voltage manually and bringing it down a tiny bit at a time, just in case you can run on a lower voltage and, thus, lower temperature. Secondly, by keeping the same voltage, you might be able to bump up your CPU speed.I know which I would choose if I were you: I'd be trying to get 4.4GHz out of that chip. But on the other hand, if you're happy with what you're getting, then it might be best not to start on this journey: it can take ages and end in frustration.Tim 14900ks, RTX4090, 64Gb@6000-30-36-36-T2, Samsung 990Pro 2Tb , Dell G3223Q 32" 4k Gsync + 27" secondary monitor. June 12, 200916 yr Author Hi,CPU-Z is what I've been using for my temps, I'll take a look at the voltage, I think its set to auto. If I can lower the voltage and increase the multiplier maybe I can get to 4.4.I'll check when I get home. June 12, 200916 yr Author Hi,Here are a few Dreamteam KJFK snapshots. The FPS are much better than I expected them to be. They are all in the 30's and 40's. June 12, 200916 yr Author Hi tfm,You were right, my vcore was being bumped up even though it was not needed. It was set at 1.42. I've lowered it to its default setting of 1.20. I'm testing now.Looks like FSX is stable at vcore 1.20 | 143x27=3861Ghz | @58 degreesSweet, time to bump this baby up a notch. June 12, 200916 yr Author Hi Everyone,Final Setting-----------------1. I7-975 CPU Overclocked (Vcore 1.30 | 143x29=4147GHz | @ 64 Degrees)2. All FSX setting on the first page are set except I bumped up autogen to max.3. Ultimate Traffic II Commercial AI = 50% / GA AI = 10%FPS locked at 30 and it rarely dips below 30, even at Dreamteam's KJFK.Time to go and enjoy my new sim. June 12, 200916 yr Hi MikeCongrats to your Rig and thanks to share your experiences! I compared your KJFK tests to my System and I must say you have overall 10+ FPS with your 975.My Specs are: 920 D0 @4410MHz, Mushkin 1600MHz 6-7-6-18 @1780MHz 7-8-7-20, WD 10000 300GB, GTX280 @730, 2800. All on Water.I have used the same Dreamteam KJFK. Think I get an 975 soon.Regards

Mike's extra 10 fps are probably down to slight differences in your settings (AF, AA etc), your slightly slower RAM and possibly your GTX280 vs Mike's GTX285 (although I see you've clocked your GPU to a higher speed than his), as well as taking measurements from slightly different places and in different weather/different cloud situations. The clouds in particular can make a BIG difference.Tim 14900ks, RTX4090, 64Gb@6000-30-36-36-T2, Samsung 990Pro 2Tb , Dell G3223Q 32" 4k Gsync + 27" secondary monitor. Or, and that is what im pretty sure about, it is the CPU because of the QPI 6.4GT/s.What I have seen in the past months/years, the perfect match of all Components makes a huge different in FSX. So I guess this is why my rig is slower than Mike's.But this are no news as NickN has all this said already.Regards Patrick
