His music was never really my style, but he was certainly was a musical genius in a way - a pioneer.It's sad to see a guy die so young, but at the same by passing away early his youthful image will be preserved he'll become immortalized in a way like Elvis and Marilyn Monroe.

Glad you mentioned Farrah Fawcett--what a courageous woman for sharing her challenge with cancer and probably saving lives in the process.I grew up with the Motown sound blaring from my car radio and some of Jackson's songs, especially from Thriller and his earlier work, were often songs I'd listen to on my frequent flights. Somehow the music seemed to flow with flying. He was a talented performer, but the one consolation is much of the musical genius which went into his more classic albums and performances is still with us--the engineers, producers, choreographers, and songwriters.I wonder how many people share a connection between flying and music as I do. Over nearly 50 years of travel and hundreds of flights, I have about 100 songs I will often listen to on longer flights. In a few weeks I will be flying to the east coast, and I suspect there will be a Michael Jackson song or a song from one of the brilliant people of the best of the Motown era I will be listening to (when I am not answering the "are we there yet" questions from my daughter).Regards,John

Like so many around the world, I grew up along with him - Jackson 5 and later MJ music has been an occasional fixture on Jamaican airwaves my entire life. He was one of those artists that helped to shape me as a musician, and kept me company through some difficult years as an introverted young man. He quite literally changed the world in many ways with his style and music. Rest in peace (finally) Michael, and thank you. :(

any news on how he died?ive been following it without choice, i had surgury yesterday and are on pills too hard to really want to leave the couch and the letters are too fuzzy to see what else is on other than the news. its truly amazing how for a moment the whole world seemed to stop because of one man

I am curious why no one seems to have picked up on this truly rediculous statement made by a supposedly educated attorney:

"I have told people in no uncertain terms that if Michael one day woke up and he was dead I would not be silent..."

How could anyone "wake up...dead?" :(

Didn't pass my wife by. She called me into the room when it was on the TV news and said: 'listen to this idiot'. Later editions of the news in the UK edited that bit off from what I saw of things.He won't be alone, there'll be no shortage of idiotic comments about the entire matter, you just wait and see.Al

I'm truly saddened by the news. With so much that has happened to him I hoped he would turn it all around and shine one more time in the end. Sadly he was taken away with so much left undone. We have his music and remember so much of what he was trying to give to the world (many great causes he stood for). I really morn the loss of Michael and know he's in a much better place. His soul can now be at rest devoid of all the turmoil he went through in life.R.I.P Michael, we'll never forget you.....
