MegaSceneryEarth----- Complete lack of customer support

I am ( was) a big fan of this product, but I have to say, their customer service is completely non existent. Despite spending hundreds of dollars on their product, they cannot be be bothered to answer multiple email request for tech support, posts in their supposed "customer support" forums or any other attempt at contact. I recently brought the complete state of washington, to sit alongside every other product of theirs, apart from colorado, Utah and Michigan. several of the download links lead to corrupted files and despite following all of the above described avenues of support, i have had not any kind of response.I dont mind spending good money for a product, but it has to have some kind of aftersales service. If anyone reads this who is anything to do with them, please help.Otherwise, a big "Beware!!!!" of this product. good product (generally - some faults, but as they do not respond AT ALL to any kind of contact, constructive critisism is a bit pointless........) but useless after sales service....

Mark,It's really funny that you should post this because I was thinking the exact same thing yesterday. Your lucky that at least the product you bought looks good. The day it came out I was so excited because they had south Florida done, I downloaded, installed, was very disappointed and have never bought anymore tiles from them. Although, some areas look much better, like the WA area from what I have seen, I am very hesitant to buy again, especially considering their lack of consistant customer support.I don't know about their original idea about doing the better part of the whole world, but this product seems to be dead in the water. I think to many have either bought the product and been dissatisfied with it or their customer service. I could be wrong, but I have a feeling that they aren't going to come close to breaking even on their investment unless both the product and the customer service improves. IMHO, I would rather they go back to going the higher quality individual titles like the MegaSceneryX SoCal, Phoenix, Vegas, etc. I think those products are much quality.Good luck.

I also much preferred the complete, boxed products they used to put out. PNW for FS2004 was my favorite scenery of all time, and with the box, manuals and charts, it felt like a complete scenery experience. This new method of distribution doesn't appeal at all to me.-I get no VFR charts or printed manuals. I live in Europe and it's difficult to get hold of charts for the US here. I enjoyed studying them when not at the computer, looking for areas that might be scenic, planning flights etc.-Pricing: Buying the tiles individually is very poor value. Buying a complete state is slightly better value but $120 - $200+ is way to much money for me to spend at one time, especially when quality is known to vary across and between the coverage areas.-TileProxy: It's not perfect but it's free. Free is a lot more appealing than $229, especially in these times.-Finally, photo scenery is beginning to feel dated. An accurate database-derived scenery like Tongass Fjords provides the same realism at higher altitudes, while not disintegrating into a flat, blurry mess even at 200ft.

My scenery that I bought from them has a known error and they even admitted. So I contacted them asking for a refund or fix numerous times. Never got a reply in the forums or in the contact form. Not sure what their deal is. Kevin

Most of the boxed Megascenery products for FS9 received at least one patch to fix known errors..so they haven't always been like that. My guess is dwindling sales resulting in them being forced to spend less on supporting their products, which in turns causes sales to slump further...

hi,if you need vfr charts for the us, go to the skyvector web site, a very convenient navigation tool indeedgood flight!

I totally agree with the OP. MegasceneryEarth is a complete rip-off with virtually NO customer support. It is designed to make as much money for that lousy company as possible without regard to quality or customer satisfaction. It's disgusting. I would LOVE to see Aerosoft Austrailia and PC Avaitor go out of business (PC avaitor is the "front" that puts out the product...and their customer support is just as bad).People who run companies like this should be ashamed of themselves.-jk

Sorry to hear many are having problems with PC Aviator. They have put out a lot of products so probably get a lot of complaints (I think this happens with all the flight simming community developers!!). I have purchased nearly all of the MegaScenery titles, the MegaCity titles, and a lot of the MegaEarth titles and have had little or no problems with their products. I had some issues with Oahu, Vegas City, and San Diego airport but those issues were resolved through their forums and you can easily find the solutions to those issues there or in their FAQ. PC Aviator has done a lot for the flight simming world and I'd hate to see them go. I understand they are pretty busy with the MegaEarth titles and preparing each area for commercial distribution is not an easy task. Like many developers, if the question you have asked has been answered in their forum or in their FAQ section, then they most likely do not respond to individual queries and I have the feeling this is what is happening in many of the complaints in this thread. Hope you get your issue(s) resolved soon!Respectfully,Jim Young

Jim, I agree the MegaScenery titles were very good. And IMO SoCal is the best of them all. But those days are over. Now it's pay more, get less. I would give them a lot more patience if they provided any support but when you read through their forums there are far too many complaints that go unanswered. It's not that they can't provide solutions right away, it's that they IGNORE the posts. And there are promises of credit/refunds that take weeks or months to deliver. I have a few of the MSE tiles and they're pretty good. But a lot really suck in terms of color and consistency, and NONE of them are as good as MegaScenery Socal. The quality is no longer there and it shows. Not only that, now they charge piece-by-piece and BS the customers into thinking they're getting a choice. What they're getting is less for more. AND they ignore customers when posts are made in their so-called "support" forums.I'm blaming PC Avaitor because they are the one and ONLY contact for aerosoft australia. I hold them accountable. I don't agree that this is the status quo. Companies like Aerosoft Germany offer excellent customer support. Flight1, FSDreamscapes, FSGenesis (Justin will be back)...just to name a few. These companies KNOW how to treat their customers. They respond to just about every post quickly enough. That's how it should be. AerosoftAustralia (PC Avaitor) utterly fails to compare. Busy or not (and there's been no activity with MSE for months now), there's no excuse for customer service this poor.Customer service is just as important as the product itself, too many businesses don't realize or don't care.respectfully,-jk

Download Matt Fox's complete set of US sectional charts in jpeg format when the library comes back up (or at flightsim.com). They are a bit out of date, but most of the important info has not changed. You may want to apply a gamma color correction to overcome the darkness of some images.John

I had similar experiences with them in the past. At one point I had some questions and tried to get them to respond, I was completely ignored. After that I stopped using their products and haven't looked back.Best Wishes

Sadly Jim, this is not whats happening. 2 points in answer to your points. Firstly, My issues are not covered by FAQ's or previous posts- I have corrupted links, - even if they are busy, they should respond. believe me I am a big fan of the product, as I say, have everything they make except the most recent megascenery earth additions, but there is ZERO response from them. Reading threads in the forum will paint a similar picture, many ###### customers getting no contact.secondly, the forum is dead - no one from the company answers any posts, there is one guy called Deano, who seems to have some contact. You are lucky if there is any activity there in weeks. i have sent him a personal e-mail - nada response. Every other developer whose products feature here with users ( I personally have perhaps 20 different software addons etc for FSX ) has forums or points of contact where any issues are generally speedily and helpfully resolved. This is the complete opposite situation. It really irritates me when you spend a large sum of money ( like I say, probably over $500 dollars on their product.....) and they cannot give you the common courtesy of answering e mails. If there was a replacement product, i would switch in a flash. Unprofessional bunch of ********** ! Sim jumkie, you have it absolutely right my man!!!!!!

Yes, it's possible to find charts in digital format, but those require either that you keep alt+tabing out of FS to view them, or get a second monitor or computer. With paper charts, you can easily and cheaply view them in-flight :)

hi,no, you can use the excellent free program called pdf kneeboard which allows you to display any pdf document in a kneeboard. You can zoom in , zoom out and move the map easily. All you need to do is is to convert a sectional chart in pdf (with the free do pdf 6 program). Simple, handy and free!!
