July 17, 200916 yr Hi,There has been released a new payware Fokker 50 by PAOB:http://www.fspilotshop.com/product_info.php?products_id=2183Any takers yet?I'm considering it, but I find $50 very steep for the product that is offered. So I would like to hear opinions from pilots who already bought it, specifically regarding panel and flight model.Regards,Egbert Location: Vleuten, The Netherlands, 17.3dme SPL 108.40 | Simulator: FS2024 System: AMD 7800X3D - Gigabyte X670 - RTX 4090 - 64GB DDR5 - 2 x 2TB SSD - 32" 1440p Display - Windows 11 Pro
July 17, 200916 yr I share your interest to have an F50, but I will not be buying this one - it doesnt have a functional FMC, the VC looks very simple, perhaps the external model is the only thing going for it.jlm
July 17, 200916 yr Have not and don't intend to. Has PAOB heard of using textures on the interior?-Greg Greg Guerinot
July 17, 200916 yr I have to say, it looks like junk payware-- not so great freeware. Try this one, It's AWESOME. http://www.fokker50.com/ Or at least I remember I liked it a while ago. Though there's no VC. Same guys that make the Flight1 Super80s. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules

I don't know, for US$50, I'd like to see more videos from inside than outside, specially if Coolsky was involved. And it's FREE. My opinion, but I'm right :( ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
July 18, 200916 yr Author Hi,I already have both the VirtualCol and Espen's freeware Fokker 50 (i.e. Coolsky). The VirtualCol F50 doesn't run very good on my system, I have lots of problems with the A/P and A/T.I skipped using itThe Espen's freeware F50 originally was developed for FS2000 and FS2002. For that time it was a great aircraft, have flown it a lot. However in FS2004 it has quite a few compatibility problems and the system rendering is very basic.I'm waiting for a Fokker 50 in the same quality as Flight1 ART72.Actually ... since a long time I use a merged ATR72 panel with a Dreamwings Fokker 50.Works fine but I rather would like a proper Fokker 50 panel. But it looks like the PAOB offering is not the one I'm waiting for.... I remembered it as pretty in depth. Maybe I just thought that with my knowledge at the time! ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
July 19, 200916 yr Did anyone read the review on FlightSim...is it a review or is it a copy of the marketing text distributed by the company that makes it? I noticed that the link for more information goes directly to the online shop for immediate purchase of the product too. Wow, it seems that one has to be very careful with the opinion of reviewers these days...they might just be out for themselves, that is, if what I've read in this post is correct :)http://www.flightsim.com/main/notams09/paob0715.htmMark
July 19, 200916 yr Always take things on Flightsim.com with a grain of salt. Most products they review they sell in their store, so reviews tend to be overly positive. Joe Sherrill
July 19, 200916 yr I'd take that review with a grain of salt as itclearly ISn't a review. It's in the NOTAM section thus it's nothing but a press release.CheersJP.
August 19, 200916 yr I guess I'll be the first one then ... The Fokker-50 is one of my favourite planes, having been buffeted about in it between Aberdeen and Amsterdam for many years. I was concerned that the VC was somewhat plain, but then, Fokker planes don't have particularly nice cockpits anyway. I have to admit I'm pretty disappointed with it. Frame rates are poor for what is not a particularly complex aircraft. On my AMD 4800x2 dual processor with Radeon 1950XTX (512mb ram) and 3gb ram I'm averaging around 20fps at KSEA, with no weather in the 2D cockpit, and around 16 in the VC. Now, before I get flamed for thinking 20fps is bad, consider that in the same location I get 35fps in the PIC737 and 28fps in the ultimate framehog, Captain Sim's 757.Switching to outside view on my rig results in an 8-second pause while the textures are drawn onto the plane. Note that even after textures have loaded, switching back to outside views again results in the same texture redraw delay. It's flyable, but just very stuttery. All-in-all, not pleasant, and significanlty below my expectations from the other aircraft on my FS9 tarmac. I contacted the developer with my concerns and their replies are prompt, but other than reducing my FS9 settings and accepting that High Definition textures are a wonderfull thing (nevermind the fps impact), there's not much to be done. To be honest, I wish I'd saved my 41euro and waited for a more mature product (in terms of development and bug fixing). This bird will go onto the list of products I wish I hadn't bought (also known as the "do'h" list).
