August 12, 200916 yr Is it possible to start up a flight in Virtual Cockpit view - (rather than the 2D cockpit view)? Cannot seem to find any option for setting this so just wondering if it might be possible to make the VC view default via a change to the aircraft config file or something like that.
August 12, 200916 yr This has been discussed sooooooooooo many times already.Oh well, just set up a flight in the VC view, cold and dark if you wish, select ALT/FLIGHTS/SAVE FLIGHT/give it a name and save it. Next time on start up select MY FLIGHTS and choose your saved flight. Should start in VC and C&D.Jim D.

E. g. when starting up the DF Dakota in VC mode, you'll get a pop-up warning that the systems may not work correctly.Wolfgang
August 12, 200916 yr This also brings up the question as to which aircraft should be choosen upon start up. I THINK the instructions for the Level -D B767 suguest that each flight be started using the "default aircraft" Cesna 182 or 172 at KSEA then switching to the B-767. I started out doing that, then I stopped and load up the VC cotpit of the Level-D 767 right from the start at a differant airport than KSEA. I cann't see any differance when I do this. Anyone's thoughts on this ? Why would Level-d request that people do this ? jerrycwo4
August 12, 200916 yr Moderator Why would Level-d request that people do this ? jerrycwo4Because unless a user has already porked their default flight, it's the only way to guarantee that FS will load with "default settings" for everything!.Having a clean baseline from which to launch a complex aircraft/panel/gauge system is the best way to avoid problems... :( Fr. August 12, 200916 yr My default flight is Previous Flight, which brings me up where I left off. While this is often OK, I find that once a month or so I need to load the Default KSEA flight to "clear out" the accumulated junk. I often end up with higher frame rates and a smoother sim.And I agree with Bill - if you are experiencing some "odd" behavior, there's nothing like the Default Flight for getting you back to a known baseline. That's why they suggest always starting there. I can't tell you how many user problems on my forum have been solved by reloading the Default Flight. Everything from video problems to bizarre flight behavior.Hope this helps, Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
August 13, 200916 yr Why would Level-d request that people do this ? jerrycwo4Just recently I had a problem with the carenado Cherokee. My default is cold and dark in the default cessna, yet I had the navigation set to gps. Well the piper didn't have a switch to get it to NAV and the VOR1 needle wasn't working right. I changed my default to be check for GPS and all works well. - Red E8500 @ 4.1 | EVGA 275GTX (overclocked) | 2x2GB Mushkin Enhanced Redline @ 1066 | Samsung 24inch LCD @ 1920x1080 |
August 13, 200916 yr Author Thank you for your replies. It would appear then that the only way is to start up a previous flight which has been saved in VC mode. I was kind of hoping that there might be a way to modify a particular aircraft so that it will always start up in VC when a new flight is created. This just to avoid having to toggle the 'S' key each time. Not a biggy I guess.
August 13, 200916 yr This issue has been with us in every FS version since the advent of VCs.The requirement for Proper FS Initialization is to start in 2D Cockpit View. It's an FS thing. :(
