Loading the flight you want J41

Featured Replies

Ok, i give up. how do you get the plane you want, with the livery you want at the airport you want so the thing will start?I can get the engines started from the supplied default but not from any other. Yes I can move the default to any airport and it will start but what about the livery? If you change the livery then the engine refuses to start.I'm thinking that flying the plane should be the fun part not figuring out the preposterous loading sequence of default flights so that it will actually work.

Im finding the best way to do things are to start with the livery you want at the airport you like then just go through the shutdown checklist at the end of the tutorial, then starting from there. Its not the ideal way you want to start, but Im finding this is now the quickest for me.

thanks, i'll give that a shot!

Mr. French,The proper sequence for starting up has been described in several posts, and is not a "preposterous loading sequence". FSX really needs to initialize with a default aircraft. This can sometimes be gotten around, but often at the expense of some stability in the sim. The JS41 needs to have the sim started and stable before it can properly initialize. You CAN go right in from Free Flight, but not if you'd like the cockpit to be properly shut down when you get into it.Also, I wonder if you're experiencing more than one problem here. After loading the livery that you want in the location you want, are you making sure that the props are on the start latches before attempting to start? You can tell the props are on the latches if they're not feathered.

you don't know me well enough to call me Mr French, the question was answered, so hold your typing for some one else!

I beg your pardon. I called you Mr. French out of respect and because you don't post your full first name. When I started to write my post, your question had not been answered, and I will not apologize for writing a thorough answer to your question. I hope you've found a method of initializing the JS41 that works for you.

the way i found the quickest for me to start from cold start is ot load the cessna aircraft to where u want to start than shut down the engines and avionics and fuel cut off switches once shut down than go to the menu on top than select the j41 and load and if like mine it comes up cold and dark state

Thanks Pete...that's a winning tip there...i didn't think of trying that.- Jason

These start up issues are nearly always cleared up by loading a flight with a default, the Cessna is a good bet, then shutting it down, switches off and so on, then loading the aircraft of choice. This was pretty much standard routine for FS9 for nearly every addon I have ever purchased... and I find doing it in FSX works just as well...Andrew

I use this technique too.- Load the default Cessna;- cut mixture (CTRL+SHIFT+F1);- feather props (CTRL+F1);- turn off avionics, lights, battery and magnetos;- load the JS41.The only thing you must care of, once JS41 is fully loaded, is to apply stop latches before doing anything else.So:- power levers full beta range;- unfeather the props using the switch right below the power levers (one for right, one for left);- wait a couple of seconds and check "0%" tooltip on the prop levers;- restore power levers position (F1, F2 til green lights appear, F3 til green lights disappear). You're done, you can power up tour a/c. I have made a couple of flight with no problems at all.Obviously, you could setup a default flight with the default Cessna set cold and dark, load the default flight, then load the JS41.Hope this helps
