The Prepar3d PMDG 777 is a MUST OWN
I wish this myth would go away as it's not true at all. Human eyes can most certainly process much higher than 24 FPS. You can easily see the difference between a 24 fps scene and a 30 fps scene when it's in motion. Youtube now offers 60fps content videos and yes you can tell the difference between the 60fps and the 30fps rendered videos. Even movies are starting to be offered in 48 fps. (which was quite jarring to me when i saw the Hobbit in 48 fps...it felt like i was watching real life and broke that "cinematic" feeling for me....huge difference to the 24fps version) It's up to the individual person to decide what works best for them. For me if I"m not using trackir I can fly with 20 fps and not care as long as it's smooth. But if I"m using trackir for me i prefer something above 30. below 30 and it does break immersion for me.

Dallas TFR
That's the George W Bush presidential library at SMU. Probably why it's permanent. EDIT: Well now not so sure. Looks like the library might be a little bit south of where that is. Still think it's related though.

[08FEB15] P3D Pricing Policy - Some facts on this issue...
I dont personally expect anything of pmdg other than to act in an ethical manner which I've seen no evidence that they haven't. My post was simply countering any argument that platform switching/upgrade programs are not common in the industry and specifically countering the mentioned battlefield game that had such a program. Plus there are far more technical differences between the ps3 and ps4 than exist between fsx and prepar3d so I'm not following why you would think it would be an inaccurate comparison. Both sets are two different pairs of platforms.

Yep I agree with what your'e saying. It's like when i talk to people that are upset with how long it's taking G.R.R. Martin to finish the next Game of Thrones book...I just argue that he doesn't owe us anything. Same thing here...PMDG doesn't owe us anything for Prepar3d. Sure an upgrade program would be a nice gesture and would certainly make my decision to migrate easier but I don't feel entitled to it nor am I upset that there isn't one. Frankly I"m happy that they are entering the Prepar3d space...more options are always better even if I decide against going down that route.

Robert, It is interesting that you make the battlefield comparison. A closer example to the FSX->P3D scenerio might be the transition from ps3 to ps4. EA in this case did offer an upgrade program for battlefield 4. http://www.battlefield.com/battlefield-4/playstation-4-upgrade PS3 to PS4 is certainly a further jump than FSX to P3D...at least in terms of software architecture. I just bring that up as I agree with most of Corey's points and find the battlefield and FS9 737 to NGX examples to be a bit disingenuous to bring up for this current issue. Most people would clearly see that the FS9 737 was a completely different product than the NGX. And with the battlefield franchise there was clearly a discounted upgrade path for ps3 owners to jump to the ps4 platform. anyway this is probably picky but your examples just struck me as very odd support for your position. EA has a history of offering these types of discounts and programs. I'm sure you guys looked at all the pricing options and decided against any upgrade path and that's completely fine. But if your position was platform switching/upgrade programs weren't common in the software industry i disagree with that completely.

EDIT: Saw in Robert's FSX-SE update that you guys prohibit discussion or questions of the redownload policy so removed this post to respect those wishes.

26APR14 - SP1/300ER Update "What Could Possibly Take So Long?!"
Fair enough. I hate that the environment around these threads can get so toxic at times. As frustrating as it must be i hope it doesn't keep more updates from coming. I'm more than happy to wait on quality...but i do love seeing the progress too :-)

Where did Eric imply Robert was being dishonest? I guess i read it more as he is confused. Either way I don't think he deserved the verbal beatdown he got. Oh well I hope PMDG don't work themselves sick. We'll all still be here in the end.

Prepar3D
NGX is not supported in Prepar3d yet. See here: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/426978-pmdgs-p3d-development-status-fact-thread-updated-25nov13/

Activating the NGX
i fixed my issue that was similar to yours by stopped and restarting the FLEXnet licensing service from the control panel.

I'm going to buy MD-11 if...
depends on what your other addons are and how far you push the sliders. It's hard to say exactly what you would see without knowing everything you're running. If I had to guess though assuming you weren't maxing out your scenery sliders you would see in the 15-25 FPS range.I'd also point out the MD-11 comes with a performance adjuster that I haven't touched much but if I needed the boost I know I have some room there as well. Others might could speak to how much of a difference that makes.

I have basically the same system as you except I overclocked my Core 2 Duo from 2.66 to 3.2 GHz and overclocked the 8800GT a bit. That alone improved my MD-11 performance by 10 FPS. I would also advise you to checkout Windows 7 over Vista for performance reasons. I'm running GEX UTX ASA and REX and at most all default FSX airports with no traffic I get 30-40 FPS. Payware airports and traffic can drop it to the low 20s but low 20s is very much flyable.I wouldn't worry about the lack of an advanced tutorial either...the MD-11 has an excellent starter tutorial and the manuals fill in most of the rest of the blanks.

Weather Applications Recommendations
RollingRock replied to downscc's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support Forumlot's of posts in this forum about this issue. short answer is it's not Hi-Fi it's SimConnect. I don't think a product you want exists for FSX.

Weather Applications Recommendations
the problem isn't so much Hi-Fi as it is SimConnect in FSX itself. as i understand it it's a bug that the FSX dev team never really addressed so I'm not sure you'll find any FSX program that does winds realistically that won't suffer from the problem unless there's a way to get around SimConnect. I could be wrong tho.
