October 25, 200916 yr Author Unfortunately this doesn't work over here. Since using this program I get strange artifacts, more or less as described here. But in my case it's not after installing sp1 but after using this program :( See also my screenshot.Hi CapP,I seriously doubt that this has anything to do with my program. Can you try loading the tutorial flight that comes with the J41 without my program and see if you get the same issue? Basically all my program does is save the current flight, modify it to look like the tutorial flight in terms of settings, and then reload it (e.g., it does not do anything fancy with FSX under the hood), so it seems unlikely that it would be the culprit. My understanding is that the flashing problem is inherent in SP1 when using the full VC model with icing. Have you tried turning off the icing as suggested by vcimione here: http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtop...t&p=1653252 ?
October 25, 200916 yr Author This could go in the User Files Download Section of PMDG site.I would be happy for PMDG to host this in their user files download section if they like. I forgot to mention this in the readme, but I am releasing the program in the public domain, so anyone can host it etc as they see fit (no need to ask permission from me).
October 25, 200916 yr It says here "Failed to open C:\Users\root\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files\JS41ColdDarkTempFlight.flt"Any Ideas why? (This happend after pressing Tab + Q)Anyhow, the other method works fine, thanks best regards, Alexander Barger
October 25, 200916 yr It works except that i still have some switches turned on. (windshield anti-ice and data air switches). But that's a good beginning. Thanks a lot for sharing.L'maire Real Deraps

October 25, 200916 yr Reference tutorial preflight check page 21 last sentence "7) All of the De-ice switches should be OFF."Any real pilot could tell me the right procedure?. Thanks and regardsL'maireI believe those should be off for a "cold and dark" preflight, as anti-ice is generally a large drain on the aircraft power. Generators and GPU can handle it, but batteries would drain very fast with it on. So, my understanding is they should be off at cold and dark and remain off while on battery power. Once APU, GPU or generator power is established, they typically go on. Typically at least the windshield anti-ice goes on early in most checklists too, since it needs a bit of time to get to work on the wind shield. Eric Szczesniak
October 25, 200916 yr I wonder if you could make a little update.I'm using the German version of FSX and the files are not stored at "Flight Simulator X Files" but in "Flight Simulator X-Dateien".Because of this your 0.5 Version is unable to open the JS41ColdDarkTemp.flt and is not working for me.Maybe you could update your version so that user may choose this target directory? That would fix any language incompatibility.Anyway thanks for your great work! Really appreciated.
October 25, 200916 yr Author Here is a new version 0.6: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=6RR4SY5NThe only substantive change is to make it such that the temporary flight is saved to the system temp folder, rather than the My Documents folder. This should make it work with other languages and should solve the problem that Unfaced and Skuld are getting. Let me know.@Lmaire: I have looked into those switches and, unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be much I can do about them. For whatever reason, the J41 seems to reset those no matter what I put into the saved flight. If you load the tutorial flight, you will notice it does the same thing. Seems like a limitation we are stuck with. Sorry...
October 26, 200916 yr Thank you, works perfect. Do I need every time load the "J41ColdDark.exe" Zip file or it should to be an ICON appears on Desk Top screen?RegardsSanal Ahmet Sanal "Time you enjoyed wasting, was not wasted"
