My Citation X 2.0 Extreme impressions

I disagree with this statement. There is nothing wrong with wanting to have both superior systems and visual modeling. Both, when done right, increase total immersion. And several developers have managed to address both sides of the coin to great success.
+1 PMDG and their FSX MD11 is a good example of what is possible.

Hi,Was the target market the same? Are people willing to fork over another $80 for this? Most anything is possible but is "anything" part of the business plan?

The problem is today, people want a 747 but only want to pay the price of a cessna. Looking at the photos i cant see anything worng with the VC, but then im not normal, im just not that fuusy, only ever toseed one plane because of a bad vs, and it was worse then a fs 2000 2d panel. As for FSUIPC, took me ages to get it but i found it is well worth the price, and yes it does help smooth those winds a lot also helps with those sudden pressure changes that comes with those windshifts, never heard that mentioned before, it also has a lovely joystick calibration menu, which to me is a lirtttle complicated but makes my cheapy logitech not bad to use. But honestly i feel soreey for all the developers, no matter what they do, someone always complains, i doubt if they ever will please everyone, which is why i guess they should read but not post, but then they would get slammed for not responding the way the buyer would like. And no i ahve not bought the plane but thats because i am not into complicated fmcs i prefer low ans slow ga, preferably turbprops.
Thanks. Your reasoned approach is a good lesson for us all. These projects have our blood sweat and tears in them and to have them slagged for sport by a few is pretty disheartening at times. For myself, I'll take your example as a lesson to be practiced and try to chill. :(

I'll try one last time to get my point across. I'm not here to slag anyone off. I want you succeed and sell as many copies of your products as possible. You can have your feelings spared if you're that sensitive, but I'd hope you'd listen to criticism, improve your work and do an even better job next time.

From my POV:I purchased the first version of Eaglesoft's Citation X, and it's still today one of the best purchases I've done when it comes to add-ons for FS.When I saw that they were launching a spanking new rendition of the bird, I didn't hesitate one bit and acquired it aswell.Although I appreciated FT/Wilco's Citation X, there is simply no way that these are on the same level, Eaglesoft has gone way deeper with their systems and if you don't know the procedures, chances are you won't even be able to get her off the ground.Yes the VC isn't sparkling purdy, but as people have pointed out 100's of times already, the real plane is awfully dull aswell (during daytime!) :( My main gripe was that the new Citation were slow to respond to AP commands. If I wanted an IAS climb for 300kts, it took her maybe 10 seconds before she settled in for the required pitch and speed began to increase (for example, going from 250kts to 300kts).Unfortunatly, I constantly got a CTD b/c of a esdg_citationx.gau error, which was caused by my end not Eaglesoft, but Flight1 gave me my money back.So I'm an ex-owner of the plane, but a satisfied one! :(

The panels are set at 1680x1050 for the widescreen. Which means they should work ok if you're using widescreen panel versions.I run 1680x1050 and the text and everything is 100% crystal clear. So, at this point... without a screen shot showing the details on your screen... I'm going to have to state categorically I find your claim unbelievable. I know... that's arrogant, unlistening... whatever word or words you will most likely want to use. However, based on my incredibly bad vision and the fact I wear bifocals... to have someone claim the text is unreadable is unbelievable.

Regarding the speed transition... the aircraft has a built-in pitch change limit that it will not exceed. Perhaps you're expecting it to perform beyond it's real world performance? Also, was this the current release 1.81 or prior to 1.6 when you purchased?

3D panels or 2D? The 2D ones were fine, it's the 3D ones that were the problem.

In the VC I have never had clarity issues at all. I would post a screenshot here, but it wouldn't be allowed due to size. Are you running at a reduced view, ie. 50% zoom?

When I was just flying around, yes, but that's not when I had the problem. When looking over to operate switches, at which point I zoomed in, was when I had problems. Unfortunately I can't be more specific as, obviously, I've uninstalled it.

I believe what you're complaining about is a condition called parallax. Where despite the fact it's rendering a 3D object, it's still physically a 2D flat image of individual pixels. Things get distorted and washed. If you have a panel with simple and clean appearance... it's easy to overcome by oversizing the gauges enough to eliminate pixel loss due to parallax. However, this aircraft has a lot of gauges in it and there's a price to pay for it. :(

Parallax is to do with perspective, not relevant to this situation. And I've not experienced a problem zooming in on gauges on other FSX aircraft, at least not that I can remember.

Since you zoomed from the pilot's position... it is indeed parallax in effect. You're seeing the stuff from the pilot's seat at an extreme angle. It's still just a flat image with dots. However, given your views... I think further discussion is moot, wouldn't you agree? I mean, I could go into extreme detail regarding VC design, gauge layout... FS limitations (oh wait, no one believes in those! :( )... etc. But the bottom line is, you think absolutely every single aircraft should be exactly like the next. The truth is, it's not really possible.

Parallax is the illusion of an object being displaced with respect to another when viewed from two different locations. Since a monitor is 2D parallax cannot occur. At any rate, not all the panels viewed from the pilots position are at extreme angles, like the APU panel for instance. And it's not really reasonable to say the discussion is moot due to my view that the VC isn't great, anymore than your steadfast views that you couldn't have come up with something better. Also, repeating myself once again, I do not think every single aircraft should be like the next. However, the bar on FSX payware aircraft has been set high recently. If you don't have the time, or simply choose not to allocate the resources to match the competition in certain aspects that's fine, but you risk criticism, which you should either take onboard or ignore, instead of making excuses.

The PMDG J41 is another example of complex systems and a highly detailed virtual cockpit. And at $44.95 its cheaper than the Citation. Go figure!
