November 24, 200916 yr I recently put windows 7 on my computer. I have a dual boot system set up. 9 gigs of ram with an OCed i7 to 3.60 GHz. GTX 260 as well.Vista 64-bit ran great with no problems. Now that I have W7 64-bit installed. FSX gets great FPS, but it stutters like crazy after a couple of minutes and when I am flying low, I can see the autogen loading up about 3-5 miles out. It justs pops up and when it loads a new set of atuogen is when the stutters occur. I have everything set up per NickN along with enhancer. I have the 195.55 drivers installed.I have the gold edition of FSX with Accel installed.Any tips or tricks would be appriciated.Matt FAA: ATP-ME, 737 CA, enough time in the 757/767 to be dangerous 🤠 Matt Kubanda, 7950X3D, 64GB RAM, RTX 5090@4k, MSFS 2024

I'm using the 191.07 which as far as I know are the latestNvidia drivers. If you tell Win7 to look for the latest drivers I'm pretty sure that's what they will be.Craig
November 25, 200916 yr Author would I need to then uninstall the current drivers and just let W& install them. Ill try the 191s. Thanks. FAA: ATP-ME, 737 CA, enough time in the 757/767 to be dangerous 🤠 Matt Kubanda, 7950X3D, 64GB RAM, RTX 5090@4k, MSFS 2024
November 26, 200916 yr Hey I have the same card GTX 260 and I have the same problem! I think we need to find good drivers for this card
November 26, 200916 yr I too have the problem the same problem which was present in Vista, but not as bad. When the framerates get too high and starts jumping/skipping frames, you have to lock the framerate. I lock mine at 30 or 40FPS :( See You In The Skies...gman!"Impossible things are simply those which so far have never been done." - Elbert Hubbard
November 27, 200916 yr I'll try that but it's weird because in window mode it's perfectly smooth except for the v-sync, but once I'm in full screen I have massive stutters...?!
November 27, 200916 yr I do not trust Microsoft updates for hardware drivers. Reason when Microsoft updated my LAN adapter, it disabled the LAN and could not browse the internet! Also another hardware update for a second sound device also rendered that device unusable. Best to go to the manufactures web site such as Nvidia and download the driver for Windows 7. IMHO :(
November 28, 200916 yr Author the 191s are a no-go for sure. As someone else stated, perf. in windowed mode is a little better. The other big issue is with textures. On vista it took less than 2 seconds to load up. Now once I fly over the high res textures, it takes over a minute to load up the others. I defragged so idk whats up. Im back on vista just for FSX right now and perf is great again. I would love to be on W7 though becasue my comp and all other games work great. November 28, 200916 yr So I put back the original FSX.cfg, just add the bufferpools line and nothing else. It runs much better with 191.07 in fullscreen mode. I'm stable with only micro-stutter (but maybe those are normal)I think the main issue was the "TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=xx". Try without this line. Also, I left the default value for the framerate, 28FPS, maybe I could go a bit higher but right now it's smooth so...

Optional updates WILL NOT INSTALL without you allowing them to do so.Don't blame MS for everything.Craig
November 29, 200916 yr Craig the point is MS shouldn't be offering updates for things like this in the first place, whether the user gave MS permission to install the driver or not, it was their driver update that killed the users connection, THAT WAS THE FAULT OF MIKEYSOFT. Windows update should have an option to stop it from ever installing driver updates automatically, rather than replying on the user to spot them amongst the myriad of updates and de-select them. Cheers, Andy.

I tried tonight with deleting the TBM line but without adding bufferpools but no joy. December 1, 200916 yr what pool size for bufferpools on the GTX260? I tried tonight with deleting the TBM line but without adding bufferpools but no joy.Oops do not delete the TBM line! What I meant is do not change the value, the default value is 40, leave it that way.For the bufferpools I put 800000000 because I have 896MB on the card. I also added this because I have an i7 CPU but I don't think it made any differences so far.[JOBSCHEDULER]AffinityMask=14Anyway it's running pretty smooth for me, no big stutters so far. Don't forget to set nhancer, it helped a lot:http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=29041

Also, My sound takes about two to five seconds to load when I switch veiws and my textures on aircraft or VC's take forever to load up as well. December 2, 200916 yr It might be worth a try to un-install Acceleration and install SP1 and SP2 and give it a whirl.
