Gear problem? Or are they testing strengths?
gear up is very rare on first moments of the flight time on a test especially the first minutes of the first flight.

That was beautiful!

Gear is never retracted in first flights.Wonderful bird, want to see the landing.

Didn't see a thing :-( Anyone know what sort of FPS they're getting and will it work in FS9?

Seriously? They mentioned it was posiibly going to be a 5-8hour flight, they do that with the gear down the whole time, haha. Wow.This is my first airliner viewing of a maiden flight so I'm clueless.

6-8 hours !!! ????Seems too much for a first flight !!!They just want to test the basic and go back home.

The flight is scheduled to be 5 hours 44 minutes - they're getting right to conducting actual work, this wasn't just for show. Pretty sure the gear will come up, they made reference to testing all the flap configurations and then cleaning the plane up.

First flights are usually very short make-sure-it-takes-off-and-lands affairs, I think, and the gear is generally not raised. The long first flights with significant configuration changes are pretty new. The 777 did a pretty long first flight, but I think Boeing made a big deal about it at the time. More knowledgeable people can correct me, though.I have to say, the looks of that airplane are growing on me. The wings when she takes off....Charles
