January 31, 201016 yr I am having problems with the two tutorials.Advanced Tutorial: I have tried this twice and both times I get the same result. Hopefully someone can tell me what I am doing wrong. I take off from KORD and even though the displays confirm that I am in auto flight mode the aircraft stays on a 143 degree heading and will not follow the flight plan, the aircraft will not go to the first waypoint, Dufee, I am on a 143 degree heading and the plane will not change course. I went through the first tutorial and the plane went to LSZH just fine on auto pilot. Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong? First Tutorial: I have tried this twice also and get the same result, it takes what seems like a long time to get to cruise level, the plane never goes much faster than 250 IAS, but the real problem is that the plane decends to slow, I over fly LSZH. Any ideas?Regards,Rod Storer
January 31, 201016 yr At KORD, you are on a vectors heading. Try doing a Direct To the fix, that should get you going in the right direction. As for the climb problem, maybe a screen shot would help the fourm spot the problem. Same for the leisurely descent. Dan Downs KCRP
February 1, 201016 yr I assume that you have printed out the advanced tutorial because you will need itbeside you as you fly.look at page 26 and follow the instructions to get to DUFFEE.Note that you (correctly) have not yet pressed the Nav button -it tellls youwhen to press it on page 27.David David Pedder
February 1, 201016 yr Author Thanks David, what can I say, never assume. I assumed that this was the same as the first tutorial and I never even looked at that part. I went up through take off and thought I would look at the rest when I got in the air and on course. Since I never got on course I never even looked at that part.Regards,Rod Storer
February 10, 201016 yr I am having problems with the two tutorials.First Tutorial: I have tried this twice also and get the same result, it takes what seems like a long time to get to cruise level, the plane never goes much faster than 250 IAS, but the real problem is that the plane decends to slow, I over fly LSZH. Any ideas?Regards,Rod StorerRod,I hope this helps. I had the same problem. The plane doesn't descent, because the tutorial fails to tell you that you have to insert the new ils frequency. When you start, you have to insert a ils frequency of London. You have to change this in the FMC.Look for the right frequency and heading, insert it in the FMC (I believe nav/page) and the plane lands perfectly.Eric Eric van Dorp
February 10, 201016 yr When departing with vectors, you would be in HDG mode, and generally ATC would vector you to the final fix... If ATC (IVAO/VATSIM or FS) doesn't do this, you can always use HDG mode to fly on an intercept to you first waypoint, or use a DIRECT TO...For the aircraft to navigate vertically, you need to arm PROF (MDs VNAV). I do not understand why your MD11 does not accelerate beyond 250KIAS above 10000 ft...You can programme the arrival and approach in the FMS. If you enter the approach runway, the ILS is normally autotuned. I have not had to hand tune the ILS yet for any approach listed in the FMS database...Andrew Andrew Entwistle
February 10, 201016 yr Commercial Member Eric, you don't need to enter the ILS frequency manually but you do need to delete the one used for departure. This is mentioned in the tutorial on page 23, could be that it was not in there at the beginning but it is in the latest revision.Markus Markus Burkhard
