[BufferPools] PoolSize=0 the holy grail of FSX performance...

Nvidia driver 197.13 for now. I will try the 196.21. I never raised the water while testing using the 196.21.Latest Nhancer settings FSX & Global: 8xs, AF 2, Vertical Sync Forced on with triple buffer, TF is on Quality, Negative LOD bias is clamped, HDR is enables, and multi processor. Here's a copy of the I don't get it, how do you guys even live with LOD_RADIUS 4.5? Anything below 6.5 is just too blurry for my opinion... I read that most use 4.5.

Well, and look at the screen resolution as well as the lack of aniso, whith that setup I doubt you would see the difference and not worth the extra tax.

For all of you who have higher end hardware and want to run with High IQ settings like 1920x1200x32 8asAA 16xAF, Gama, ingame Aniso and want to Try BP=0 without corruption please follow:After re-reading what TBM actually does it seems really odd to be settings that higher and higher the more we move away from the older graphic cards. And since our discussion has been getting alittle sharper with regard to the problem that exist at High IQ settings and BP=0 namely an out of sync issue, it occured to me to give some other things a try.Lower your TBM to the same as your UFL:Also make sure you have Vsync enabled if you can.TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=30UPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMIT=30BP=0I just flew this in my test scenerio f16 in Spot view down the river at 300knts in PNW (AG Dense not Vdense mind you) I then switched to a CS727 and panned every available view that before would have left the VC bare and transparent and If I tried to go into the menu it would Black Screen, not this time and was stable corrupt free. No long flight test yet, just a quick report here.Well I did all the above and so far no problem so I am putting it out there for all to give it shotm Word Not Allowed, Steve? Try it guys.I will be upping some settings and doing longer trials but this allowed the High IQ and NO corruption while it also seemed to help the draw distance to stay clearer for LOD (was at 6.500000 Word Not Allowed, will bump it later) <!--fonto:--><span style="font-family:"><!--/fonto-->

Would the most recent and best ATI card bring the best of both worlds?Stephen
Stephen,I'll be buying a 5870 shorty... if I'm correct, and the increased shader processesors, plus GDDR5 memory allow the ATI to 'process' commands faster (rendering is about the same), you could run even Extemely Dense with no problems at all.. so I will test the theory buying the card myself :) you could wait or like me (impulsive kind) purchase it asap...Why not a Fermi? well... I don't want to get into a discussion with the a really excited user, (I own a 285) but I'm pretty sure the 5870 and GTX 480 will perform exactly the same in FSX... besides, the ATI runs cooler and have better overclockability if I need the extra raw speed.my 'threshold' or point were I get artifacts when using BP=0 is when using VERY DENSE Autogen.. using Dense works great... so I know I'm in the red zone, I want to use EXTREMELY dense, and the ATI will allow me to do that... but no more theory, lets put it to the test.

Alright. Let's try it out...

Alright. Let's try it out...
I just uped the ante, gave it AG very dense AND jumped in and out of the F16, CS727, & LD767-3 panning all views back in and out of menu, no corruption....Same flight, same High IQ settings...Going back for the full hog..

Was successful at extremely dense as well though the frames where now going down into the low twenties but no problem. So uped the ante some more, eh why not!I used everything, groundshadows and bloom, every other setting is MAXED and it flew and panned all views of the CS727 flying 300knts low over the river from the Robbin Dam area in PNW, got back into spot veiw and panned around in fast circles and it finaly broke...started to get courruption but was able to exit, still not too bad though :)Back to testing and will wait for your reports.

Hey *******,I was thinking the exact same thing, but since you volunteered first, I will wait to see how it works for you. I have a hunch that bufferzones=0 plus a properly setup 5870 will work to bring a FSX state of grace. I will be following suit as soon it proves to be right.Stephen

The change to TBM 30 didn't bring much. I loaded the engine, and it started snowing inside of couple of minutes. It's possible one can load the engine a bit more, the question is how much more... You can't measure it, so it's not possible to determine.I also didn't see any change in texture loading between 30 and 80. I don't care which setting.

I should receive it on Wed. so stand by later next week for the report :)

I think the reason is 4.5 is the most the GUI will allow. You can set it to 6.5, but the slightest change you make via the GUI to any setting it will revert back to 4.5. After a while it becomes a nuisance to change it.

Thanks

And you matched FPS as well?I notice you have the Evga card, notorious for problems with bad voltage regulation, many a RMA, might check in EVGA video card forum, I never ever get snow.Stephen, Have you tried this yet?I just had this 20 min light with all settings maxed, this is full AG and Full scenery on top of LOD8.5 in the CS757, it killed the frames mind you but no problems with corruption as long as I had Bloom and groundshadows set to off with everthing else maxed.I think now I can go back to Very dense settings and be happy...Still testing

What clouds and what TML in fsx.cfg? And funny you say that about EVGA, everyone else said EVGA is top of the line, like, a reference card, one of the best. And btw. it only makes problems in FSX. No other game.
