Hi,Just go to your: FSX\ShadersHLSL\miscNow open your SwarmCloud.fx file and make the following change.bool NewMaterialUsage = true;Change the above to false, do not remove the semi-colon.Now go to: C:\documents & settings\<your username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\FSX\Now delete the folder called: shadersNow restart FSXThats it, your done.I see no diffenence in performance/image quality if FSX has/hasn't have control of Anisotropic & Anti-aliasing filtering.

Mike - No need to have FSX control AA, try unchecking Anti-Aliasing as you are controlling it with nHancer settings already.Having just perused this long thread I not seen the cloud flashing fix before, where is it inserted and does the commnd work with the spaces or is that the way you typed it?Thanks,

Hi Capt,Well, its about an hours and a half with Autogen=5. Departed FSDreamTeam's KJFK, my destination is FSDreamTeam's KLAS, so-far-so-good. No problems at all. My FPS were lower at KJFK but that is to be expected, I have no black screen and/or textures, no texture corruption, no graphic tearing.Keep in mind I'm running the following Bufferpools.[bufferPools]PoolSize=500000If I attempt to run Bufferpools at the setting shown below, I can recreate the following conditions at will. Black Sky, Black Screen and graphic tearing while panning the exterior of the aircraft.[bufferPools]PoolSize=0

Maybe your Autogen=0 setting protects you against black screens or disappearing textures, Mike, because autogen also use a huge amount of video memory.

Mike,Be aware that I never managed to overload my system with the LVLD-767. It's simply not heavy enough. It's VC is graphically rather simple compared to PMDG 747 or J41. Also exterior model is way lighter than named aircraft.If I tend to overload the system for test purposes, I have to load the named aircraft, heavy scenery etc... all sliders max, incl. autogen. Also what cloud resolution are you using and what engine for that matter? There is a HUGE difference in using REX2 engine or ASA...If I would run like you do, there would be no problem.

it's funny I swear I had better performance with clouds from rex set to 4096I turned up water to max but get this weird shadow flashing and black boxes by the coastlines. Turned off wave effects but it is still thereI am using nicks settings for nhancer and latest nvidia drivers

can I please complete one flight?
Aproximately two months ago, I discovered that changing the initial render states on the common shader file (from Wrap to Clamp) completely SOLVED the dissapearing texture problems for me, I originally posted the fix on the PMDG forums and later on this forum. The 'downside' to this 'change' is that OLD FS2004, ported A/C will stop working. Since you can not even complete one flight, you don't have anything to loose! so, I suggest you try this 'shader tweak' and report back to the group your experience with it.The 'only' thing you need to do, is go to the ShadersHLSL folder in your ROOT Flight Simulator X directory, and locate a folder called Common, inside that folder you will find a file called Common.fhx (make a backup of that file so you keep the original) and change the following line:
dword State_TextureWrap			  : STATE_TEXTUREWRAP			  = D3DTADDRESS_WRAP;

to look like this:

dword State_TextureWrap			  : STATE_TEXTUREWRAP			  = 0;

after doing the change, you need to DELETE the shader cache located in C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\FSX (just delete the folder called shaders) and then restart FSX. you'll never have a corrupted texture problem ever again... also, MAKE SURE you don't use the 'Bloom' option inside FSX, if you 'use' Bloom in FSX you don't need the above FIX, because bloom changes render states appropiately. Why I have not created a new post for this fix? because, I've only tested it for two months, BP=0 I've been using it for a full year... the shader tweak is NO related to BP=0, its purpose is to fix the 'black texture/dissapearing texture' problem.

aw man, the Flight1 Pilatus is one of my favorite airplanes... but I guess it isn't a full fsx model, with the shader edit it won't work properly... damn

Those are not black boxes :) its terrain shadows reflecting on the water. the do 'flicker' I think you can play with those, I would look into the following:[Display]ShadowMappingQuality=2 // (0 Turns filters off, 1 set them to low, 2 HIGH. 4 is auto)and, check the Waterconstants.XML file in the FSX root directory, you can tweak some shader values there

I have that too. It's a reflection of scenery in the water. On setting high clouds reflect, on max, also scenery.

Thanks Capt Lalle and Stephen, Mike that is interesting, since letting nHnacer control AA I have better results myself... our systems do differ though. And thanks for the shader cache info.This is exciting news regarding the settings you are all speaking of. I am going to have a good long read of this thread and see what changes I can make. I am defianately going to look into the cloud texture issue and see if I can make a difference. I have missed the 4096 textures as I forgot to run REx after rebuilding my FSX.cfg and have been doing that for about a year until I came accross another post by accident a few days ago. FSX just keeps getting better and better.Best regards,

flying at night with all the tweaks ******* gave me just do not work. the addon scenery buildings for LSZH from FSDreamteam just disappeared when I was landing. It was only an hour flight from Aerosofts LOWI to FSDT LSZH. Back to default BP

You are using the latest version of add on manager correct? make sure you download the stand-alone version.. I think your problems are related to couatl.exe memory usage.http://www.virtualisoftware.com/binaries/s...donmanagerX.exe

it must be the latest version, I just downloaded the addon scenery a few days ago. I will download that standalone

Hey guys I have a new "problem" with the tweak, this only happens on my core i7 with a 2gb GTX 280.Sometimes I will have a dropoff at the edge of the rendered world where the sim does not bother to render any more scenery, and just places a blue square. The solution is quite simple, just restart the computer and it's gone...until it comes back again. This is not a big deal but if you can think of anyway to address this, I would be all ears.I tried reducing the texture burden etc... but I can't seem to crack it, only a restart fixes the problem.
