February 7, 201016 yr Commercial Member Correct, it is voice only. Voice only. During development I tried to make it a dual-system (voice and old button system), and I didn't like results so I discarded the old system.Voice is infinitely more realistic than pushing buttons in my view... but I appreciate some people don't like talking to their computers or that some people don't have understanding wives... :( B. And is voice-only the way you see going forward for all your future products? There are now 2 fs2crew products that I haven't bought because they're voice-only (this one and the Wilco 737 one). February 11, 201016 yr Voice only. During development I tried to make it a dual-system (voice and old button system), and I didn't like results so I discarded the old system.Voice is infinitely more realistic than pushing buttons in my view... but I appreciate some people don't like talking to their computers or that some people don't have understanding wives... :(My concern is whether FS2CREW itself is going to understand what I say. The reason for my concern is that Swedish not English is my native language. Also I have tried a program called ATC Simulator 2 and there I wasn't able to make speech recognitien to work. Just my first spoken command in the tutorial was understood but then it was stop.In case I can be confident that FS2CREW for the maddog is going to work I will definitely get it
February 11, 201016 yr Hi Jonathan,Firstable make sure you have the english US installed for the speech recognition, right Bryan? Then you can try by running the speech recognition training, that's important.I would additionally try to dictate a bit to the computer and check how it recognizes... remember it's a learning phase where you will learn to understand yourself with the computer. It's a kind of 2 way learning. You will make some effort pronouncing words better (the ones that the computer has difficulties to understand), and the computer will try to understand you better. It's funny but it works...Anyway, run all the trainings and tutorials for it, it won't take excessive time to do so.I am Finnish, and honestly english is not my mother tongue, but for me this is working very well. And some words my FO is not understanding, I open a word document switch on speech recognition and try to teach/learn how to pronounce/understand better. You need to dedicate a bit time for the teaching/learning process, but it is really worth when you see then the results. If someone thinks in another way, please just feel free to correct me. This has been my experience,Brgds,Samuli

This has been my experience,Brgds,SamuliSamuli's got it right. You need to run the voice training and your speech recognizer must be set to English. That's something you have to check if you're not running a English version of Windows. If using Vista or Win 7, you must have it set to English - US, not English UK.As for non-American accents, so long as you run the voice training you should get pretty good results. As mentioned, Samuli is Finnish and his accent is definitely not from Seattle, and he's stated he gets pretty good results.Cheers, B. York FS2Crew Web Site / FS2Crew Facebook Page / FS2Crew Discord
March 10, 201016 yr I would really love a non voice Maddog FScrew as I work funny hours and cant really use a Mic execpt at the weekends.I use the PMDG MD11 Fscrew all the time and love it to bits but to have a MD82 version would be awsome. June 12, 201015 yr Author Hi Jon,I'm probably going to do two versions for the upcoming Jetstream:One voice and one only buttons.Best,Bryan,I can only see a voice-controlled version for the Jetstream. I seem to remember promises for dual versions for the Maddog version as well which has not been forthcoming. There are now 3 versions of FS2Crew that I have not been able to buy - Maddog, Jetstream and the Wilco 737. Why? Because I cannot use a voice-controlled version. It's just not possible in my domestic scenario. Is it your intention now to only produce voice-controlled versions of FS2Crew going forward? I'd really like to know as I am giving up on FS2crew products at the moment. Thank you Jonathan

Thank you JonathanHi Jon,I don't recall ever promising a "dual version" Maddog version. The plan is to do a "button version" for the Jetstream though. When it will be out, I don't know."Button versions" are actually much more complex to do than voice versions.Cheers, B. York FS2Crew Web Site / FS2Crew Facebook Page / FS2Crew Discord
