Hey guys, i'm just curious how long an AVSIM Upload takes? :) Can't wait to show you my beauty.

Best regards,

I asked that in a previous post. 24 hours or so. Maybe more if the weekend.

I might be able to win this since the last entry didn't have a FULL name as per forums rules and contest rules :)

Hi fellow simmers, finally i found my avsim livery accepted and ready for download. However i did not get a notification by mail. Anyway. I would like to introduce you to my Austrian Arrows special Livery "Gustav Klimt". Preview2a.jpgPreview1a.jpgI want to give a short explanation to what i thought about painting this aircraft. The JetStream 4100 has never flown for Austrian arrows by now - but i got familiar with the paintkit (and i love flying it). Furthermore i chose the livery to be close to Austria and to one famous Austrian person. Therefore i chose Gustav Klimt (it's his counterfeit on the plane too). Some of you may know him, most of you probably don't. He was a painter and 2 of his artworks i put as a tailpicture. On the Left-hand Side you can see the "Adele Bloch-Bauer I", what is (at the moment) the 2nd most expensive paintings in the world. The right Tailside is covered with "The Kiss". One of his best works he ever did and the most popular as well, as it got reproduced uncountable times. The somewhat confusing sign below the cockpit windows is the writing and naming of Austria when it was first recognized in 996 as "Ostarrichi". Coloring is chosen after our official Flag Red/White/Red.I hope i didn't forgot something what i wanted to mention - but i think that should cover most of it. Finally the AVSIM Library Link to downloadThanks for watchingAlexander Roithmair - LOLW

Another question regarding rules, are we allowed to use PMDG's name/logos in the repaint? e.g. if we were to create a new "house" livery for PMDG for instance.

Check out my repaints and downloads, all right here on AVSIM

thanks for the help guys. i'm doing a fictional KLM livery for the MD11 or maybe the 744F

Great liveries so far guys! There's some nice detail in there. I imagine most entries will be closer to the deadline and am looking forward to seeing them all. I also look forward to seeing your .psd files. I'll post on that later, probably at the deadline or close to it or you could just email them to me when you want. You should be able to email me from my profile.Again great work!Oh, before I forget. It would be helpful if doing replica's that a link or some sort of reference be made available (ie. Tail number). Definately not mandatory, but would be helpful. Also to let some know that I prefer you post your question here since I don't check PM's that often and miss a lot, plus there have been some repeat questions that could better help others if they see the Q&A's here. To answer a couple publicly:1.) I am a judge but will have the least say. I am not judging looks at all, or really anything to do with the actual textures. My imput probably only effects 1/5th (at best) the overall rating. Although my sight is really good, I have lost some color interpretation (color blindness) in my eyes due to a willy pete accident years ago and wouldn't want to have it affect your chances for those doing customs :(2.) If it doesn't violate AVSIM's or PMDG's rules then it is fair game. Your imagination is the only limit. Of course one of the main things the judges will be evaluating is originality (for those doing customs) and we've all seen thousands of other liveries so a copy will doubtfully get snuck by :( That actually partially helps answer another question someone emailed me about why they need to email the actual .psd files.3.) I'm not 100% on when the winners will be selected. As we all know, most people have other aspects of their lives that may toss a road block in the mix but I don't think it will be too long after the deadline. Once the judges get back with me the results will be posted. I also would like to incorporate at least 50% (more like 75%) of the decision process be handled by others of the community here. I only ask that people hold off from sharing their opinions until after the deadline. I will probably make a sister post (poll) to this one with the finalists to then narrow down the winners.

Another question regarding rules, are we allowed to use PMDG's name/logos in the repaint? e.g. if we were to create a new "house" livery for PMDG for instance.
Please sign your full name per forum rules, thanks.I don't see why not. I of course don't have any stipulations to what they are. I can't say that PMDG would use it, but I'm sure they find it flattering to see fine liveries created using their name and logo. The only ones I've done using them is on the Beta Woodpigeon :(

Hello all, Just a reminder that there are only 5 more days for getting entries in on time for this contest, and I'm looking forward in seeing more.To qualify, the livery needs to be finished and uploaded to AVSIM by 1 May 2010. For those already finished and that have posted, please email me your finished .psd files when able, thanks.

OK folks,Here's my attempt. Let me tell you a little bit more about it.....This FSX repaint is my interpretation of how Lufthansa would celebrate it's 40th anniversary of operating Boeing 747's this year (actually this month - what timing!) . The repaint depicts a custom hybrid scheme. Well, what does this mean I hear you ask? The short answer is I have created a custom repaint based on a "blend" of Lufthansa liveries of the past and present. For example, the cheatlines and tail in the older blue and yellow color schemes reflect the earliest livery and are based on photos of D-AIRX (a current A321 in retro colors), while the underside of the fuselage , top fuselage, engines and tail are based upon the current scheme (any current 747-400 aircraft that you may see around). The livery is also special in that it depicts a Lufthansa Cargo scheme for the 747-400F variant which Lufthansa has never directly operated before in it's history (apart from affiliated airlines) , has custom 40 year anniversary titles in both English and German text along the side and wears the original registration D-ABYA to commemorate the very first Lufthansa 747-130.What about the painting aspects?Well using the PMDG paint kit, I used Corel Photo X2 as the primary paint editing tool as well as the DXTBMP tool to convert the .DDS textures for FSX. The fuselage and tail textures include updated custom night textures (slightly enlarged illumination cone as per some real 747 photos), as well as updated engine textures. The fuselage textures are made up of full set of PMDG supplied base textures plus an additional 16 layers. The most challenging parts were the paint scheme around the nose using the Photo X2 Pen Tool and Bezier curve functions which required some fine-tuning (just afew times!!!). So, I hope you enjoy the repaint and like flying it!I have just uploaded to Avsim. ID# is 272752. Should be there tomorrow, hopefully.RegardsMarkhttp://' target="_blank"> Aldridge
