March 15, 201016 yr If that was in response to my very tactful post I think there is, in fact, no need for your post.I think that post was in reply to an earlier series of posts that almost hijacked the thread. Your post was well written, can't imagine it offending anyone. What are your system specs? I'd be curious if they are better or worse than mine--if better, that would make me think you can get pretty decent performance. -John
March 15, 201016 yr If that was in response to my very tactful post I think there is, in fact, no need for your post.Sorry, wrong spot. Looked like it was directed at yours but it wasn't. A previous poster was the catalyst, but I was a bit slow in getting my login and posting. BTW I regularly see less then 20 frames in the demo but to me it still looks smooth unless I concentrate on whether it's smooth or not. If I just fly and look out the window at where I'm headed and what's below me it's all smooth enough for me. I'm going to give up a Saturday night at the pub and put the money into PNW.
March 16, 201016 yr Yeah my specs are listed in my sig. Not the latest n greatest - that's for sure. What I realized was that in any sort of medium-sized town I get these stutters. Away from that, and as long as I'm flying a default plane, or a very fps friendly plane (and slow!) like Carenado Arrow, I can stay with 25 fps locked. Anyway took a few snapshots... I really like the autogen trees. They looks great from down low and also up at altitude. This little strip I found had a sloped runway!!! It's a private strip WN00 is the ID, on the NE side of the demo area, just below CHINOOK MOA Ap.s. March 16, 201016 yr Commercial Member Hello Ryan, those are some great screenshots! If you have difficulties over urban areas you might want to give the MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS tweak a try. It will pull back building density in urban areas while keeping rural tiles untouched: http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtop...p;#entry1730960Cheers, Holger
March 16, 201016 yr Thanks Holger, that means a lot! Now darn you Orbx!!! I realized after flying the giant square in the demo I want to see what else is out there LOL! Granted, I haven't hit every airport in the demo, but I am interested in seeing parts of BC, so even with my FPS woes, I might go ahead and get this thing. I haven't changed the buildings per cell yet and I'm a little scared about Seattle downtown area with PNW full version. As it is right now I'm only getting about 12-18 fps in payware planes. I can't imagine even taxiing with less than 10 ick! Fortunately SEA is just a smidge of the whole area, which is why I'm really interested in getting the full thing now.You guys have a refund policy at all like F1? March 16, 201016 yr Commercial Member You guys have a refund policy at all like F1? Just in case things don't work out in the frame rate dept on my end...Hi Ryan,Our resellers don't offer a refund policy; but we've released full-feature time-unlimited AU and NA region demos and also a bunch of freeware airports. Those should give you performance indicators. We won't mislead anyone about dense city and urban areas on lower-spec PC's - your PC will struggle if you drag sliders too far right. But we have a large number of customers on low-spec PCs who mainly purchased PNW for their bush flying needs using smaller aircraft, and they are reporting excellent FPS outside the large cities. Cheers, John Venema
March 16, 201016 yr Thanks orbx! :( Your PNW demo has made flying in FSX the next best thing to real flying. The new scenery is fantastic. I am waiting for the dvd since my second machine is for flight sim and doesn't have an internet connection. Keep up the good work. Thanks for a wonderful gift.Ed
March 17, 201016 yr Tried the demo last night, Hoquiam to Port Angeles via Mt Olympus; Absolutely stunning! Although I live in Colorado now, I grew up in a small logging town (Vader) in southwestern Washington, and made many trips up to the pennisula, and I must say that the Orbx Team has captured the overall beauty of the region. Just can't say enough about the craftsmanship that went into this product.Of course I will happily purchase the DVD once it's released, which was my intention anyway, even before the demo. But I just wanted to say "Thank You" to everyone involved for making the demo available; it's a brilliant marketing technique IMO, and I think it will attract many loyal customers in the future.. myself included!Cheers! ~ Rudi

The other day I went outside, and it was very nice out, quite pretty. March 17, 201016 yr A Truly magnificent addon! Ive just ordered a load of parts to build me an i7 rig to really do it justice, damn you ORBX costing me money haha. Simon Roberts
March 17, 201016 yr The demo also convinced me that PNW is a must have. Will be purchasing as soon as $ allows.
