Robbed!
I wonder how many of the armed criminals have applied for a license before using a gun in a crime. Oops, can't rob that guy's house until I get my handgun license. It's definetly not a bad thing for the armed criminals. It gives them a safe work environment. I guess it depends how tough the license requirements are for the law abiding citizen that makes it either a good or bad thing.

Robbed!
My "something heavy" is a 9mm Glock 26. I understand (correct me if I'm wrong), the British government has taken away your right to own a handgun to protect your home and family. Can you still own a rifle or shotgun for protection? Here in Pennsylvania, we recently upgraded our Castle Doctrine law. One of the provisions is that if someone breaks into your home ,it is assumed they are there to do you harm and deadly force is justified.

Are you a gamer?
What you can learn from "Scourge of War: Gettysburg" is how to get your butt kicked by the AI. The AI may be the best ever developed for a war game.

Are you a gamer?
About the only other one I play is "Scourge of War: Gettysburg". It was recently adopted by the US Army to train officers.http://www.norbsoftdev.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=frontpage&Itemid=1

Orbx announces new projects
There's a lot of potential customers in the northeast between Maine and Virginia. Lots of major metropolitan areas with lots of fat wallets. The mountains of New England, the Appalachians in Western PA and West Virginia, the coastal regions, Chesapeake Bay, the Finger Lakes, the eastern great lakes. That's got to be popular with all the eastern simmers. As excellent as PNW is, making a jump to the opposite side of the US seems like a move that would be financially advantageous for Orbx. Plus besides modeling the cars and trucks, Orbx will have to model horse and buggies for Pa. Amish country with a long string of vehicles behind the buggy.

EZDOK -- rocks!
I'm posting this here because I'm not registered over at the Flight1.com support forum for EZDOK. At the EZDOK support forum the members are encouraging each other to petition TrackIR to work with the EZDOK company to integrate the two products. There is some talk on the forum that TIR is holding back software from EZDOK that would allow the integration or that TIR may be planning to develop effects for TIR similar to EZDOK. Following the forum members suggestion, I emailed TIR (giving my phone number) to encourage the two companies work together. They called me within the hour to explain why they can't supply EZDOK with what EZDOK needs to make it TIR compatible. Not being a software person alot of what the gentleman told me went over my head, but it sounds like there is no SDK, per se, for TIR. It sounds like they do not have an in-house software design team and are mainly hardware oriented. They said they do not have the personnel to develop a EZDOK type effect nor do they plan to. It's not they don't want to work with EZDOK, it's just that they don't think they have anything to give them that would help the effort. My apologies to TIR is I got any of his explanation wrong. I suggested to the person I talked to at TIR that they post the information they discussed with me on some of the sim forums such as this one or over at Flight1.com to provide information on the current situation between the two companies.Anyway, maybe some here who is registered at the EZDOK support forum over at Flight1.com can copy and paste this info. Thanks.

Pacific Northwest Demo Out now
The demo also convinced me that PNW is a must have. Will be purchasing as soon as $ allows.

Pacific Northwest Demo Out now
On my computer I can double click on the KMZ file and it automatically puts me into Google Earth with the PNW demo area outlined in red. Then I can zoom in as much as I want to see what is in the demo area. By zooming in sufficiently, I can clearly see Seattle is just outside the demo area.

EZDOK -- rocks!
I like the EZDOK vibration effects but I spend almost all my time in the VC using TrackIR so if I understand the various discussions, I'll have wait until (if) a TIR compatible version is made.

PICTURES OF C185F SKYWAGON TUNDRA POSTED.
Thanks Glenn. I would have guessed Cessna had some sort of quick-connect system.

NEW C185F SKYWAGON FDE OPTIONAL PATCH RELEASED
Thanks again for checking. Wow, that's weird about me being the only one to have the taxi light switch status show when I put the mouse over the lower left gauge in the six gauge cluster. Looks like I'm going to have to have a talk with my mechanic. I'll copy the Beaver fuel pump sound to the Skywagon.Everyone else is up flying and we're still inspecting the aircraft. Blame my technical background.John

NEW C185F SKYWAGON FDE OPTIONAL PATCH RELEASED
Glenn,Thanks for checking into those items.Guess we'll have to live with the radio knob and gauge cluster issues.Sounds like I can just ignore the oil dilution switch.Would it be more accurate to copy the fuel pump sound file from another plane into the Skywagon sound directory?I would like to see the fuel pump switch corrected, both the color and the dual activation. However, if the dual function isn't programmed into the sim, there's no point in being able to activate the switches separately, just like having an oil dilution switch you can flip but it has no effect on how anything functions (if this is indeed the case). Reading the operator's manual for the Skywagon I did read about the dual colored double switch. If you get a chance, let me know if you can work the fuel pump switches separately. I tried to mouse click them separately, but couldn't.Did you happen to check to see if you get a taxi light switch status when rolling your mouse over the lower left gauge in the 6 gauge cluster? Thanks, John

NEW C185F SKYWAGON FDE OPTIONAL PATCH RELEASED
1. Are you sure you could turn the radio on/off using the knob on the radio in the original cfg file? I thought I tried it when I first got the plane and didn't think I could do it.3. Is it possible to bring in the 6 gauge cluster pop up box from one of the other Carenado planes into the C185?4. Tried the fuel pump just now. No sound that I can hear. Maybe just my bad hearing. Two new questions:Does the oil dilution switch have any function in the sim?The fuel pump switch is a double rocker type, but it seems you can only throw both at once. Is this accurate?

NEW C185F SKYWAGON FDE OPTIONAL PATCH RELEASED
Thanks for everyone's work on the latest patch to make this an enjoyable aircraft. Now I just have to practice taxiing a tail dragger without running off the taxiway.Just a couple questions about the Skywagon from a novice...1. Right now I can only turn the radios on/off with the master avionics switch even though the radio has an on/off knob that rotates. Would there be something in the config file that would actuate the on/off function with the radio knob?2. Anyone else getting the taxi light switch status info when rolling your mouse over the bottom left gauge in the six gauge cluster on the co-pilot's side?3. Is there any way to enlarge the six gauge cluster pop-up window. For me the pop-up window isn't any larger or clearer than the in-panel gauges.4. Is there supposed to be a sound when the fuel pump is turned on? My other planes that have the fuel pump have a sound of the pump running when I turn the switch on. This one I'll have to verify because I THOUGHT I remember last night there not being a sound (I'm at work now). I thought I remember the sound of the fuel pump running before this latest patch.Thanks.-John

Skywagon gage lights
I think it was the green color schemed C185 I was flying tonight, the clock, artificial horizon, and EGT gauges had no instrument lights. By design or error or just me???

C185 Guide Updated
I'm just a casual simmer, but when I fly it's usually in a Carenado plane. Just a creature of habit I guess. I don't buy many add-ons, but your C185 user's guide has persuaded me to pry open my wallet later today and purchase the Skywagon. If all of Carenado's planes had a guide like that I'd probably buy more of their planes. It's just that extra "sweetener" needed to push me over that purchasing edge. Thanks for your work on the guide and thanks to Carenado for their work on the plane.

What an FSX VFR flight!1
When you're right, you're right. What a beautiful flight. If any of you don't have FSGenesis for Canada, it's worth it for this flight alone. I almost forgot it was a simulator. I almost wore out my TrackIR looking around so much.

Carenado C152 is out!
Is there a fuel shutoff valve or fuel crossflow control (I don't know what the real C152 has)? I see a small red plate on the floor, but didn't find a control yet (although I haven't looked that thoroughly yet either). Also, I can click on most of the gauges to bring up a "pop-up" gauge except the fuel tank and temp gauges don't seem to want to pop-up. Carenado told me the ammeter gauge is not meant to have a pop-up.

Carenado C152 is out!
For those who asked, I am flying the C152 with only SP1 installed, not SP2 and not Acceleration. So far the C152 works fine, right down to the opening ash trays.
