April 30, 201016 yr Author Hm, strange but possible. If you can, look for a B-Batch. Wish you luck!I'm also having my second chip, but even my first one was able to overclock up to 4400MHz below intel specs. Ok, my CPU is always on water.

April 30, 201016 yr Author Pretty sure I'm on a B batch... Revision B1 in CPU-ZB1 is the Revision not the Batch. You have to look onto the Box or on your CPU for the Batch# It looks like 30003B317 or 25678A915

May 1, 201016 yr Hey folks - I purchased the following system a few weeks ago and have been using it for about a week with very little - if any - tweaking because I'm clueless but hope to read up on it in near term. at any rate I didn't see much with the setup I have so I thought I would share specifically the (3) monitor with eyefinity review.WIN 7 - 64ASUS P6T DELUXE V2I7-980 EXTREMEMECOOLER MASTER Intel Core i7 compatible V8 RR-UV8-XBU1-GP 120mm Rifle CPU CoolerIntel X25-M Mainstream SSDSA2M080G2XXX 2.5" 80GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CORSAIR DOMINATOR-GT 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2000 Western Digital VelociRaptor WD3000HLFS 300GB 10000 RPMXFX ATI 5970 BLACK EDITION.(3) ASUS VH202T-P Glossy black 20" 5ms Widescreen LCD Monitor running - FSX, real environment extreme 3 FX addon, My traffic addon, eaglesoft citation x addon, airhauler.using, (3) monitor setup with ATI eyefinityAll sliders are maxed out in settings in fsxgraphic card catalyst settings are 4 and 4 on ai and afImpressions:- very impressed with eyefinity - unreal experience with no real impact on performance and very easy setup - no problems - support is great too from ati- frame rates are smooth with no real tweaking in windows, bios, or over clocking - I have tried unlimited and locked frame rate settings - I kept locked at 20 and it seemed to hold that fine - occasionally dipping to high teens but still feels very very smooth - even smoother feeling at 20's than previous years past where I may have frame rates above 40 in other rigs with minimized graphic settins. unlimited frame rate settings danced quite a bit between 30-60's. I generally run my test at seatle straight out.-Biggest difference by far is smoothness or fluidity which doesn't really seem to correlate with frame rates at all!!!. This is new experience for me with FSX. So I would agree with above comments. I have been a user of FS since the DOS version so I have some experience but would not consider myself a technical guru or extreme gamer. With this setup (above) I could fly with frame rates at 20 easily and happily but with smoothness it really feels like frame rates are in the higher 30-40's. Just my 2-cents.Richard
May 5, 201016 yr Hi Everyone, very exciting TopicI have i7 (for 1156 socket @3.5 GHz only;) and GTX 480 since this week and I was try differend settings of FSX.cfg, but the results (FPS) isn't cleary better than my previous GPU (2x8800 GTX -SLI /no SLI) ..BP=0, AM=14 -252, TBM=40-400 and some minor modification not changing this situation. Yes, FSX running smoother but over urban area or airport scenery i still got 8 to 15 FPS (FS Global 2010, UTX, GEX, REX2.0, Traffic X and CS 727 addons). Maybe I doing something wrong or not completly ...crashmax, can You share your FSX.cfg for i7 & gtx 480?Thanks!BTW: Sorry, English isn't my natural language.kobr

Just my 2-cents.RichardBy Jove! I-I-I'm realy honestly,, not jalous.Okay - - maybe a bit...However for a moment I thought you had a Hexacore machine, that's even more ...wooowYour frame rates wil probably be higher on 2 screens, but like you said that doesn't matter much. It doesn't matter much because of the multiple threads used. While the threads used of video are running through one core, flight dynamics are running through another.By the way did you add this in your cfg? >>[JOBSCHEDULER]AffinityMask=255Happy landings cpt! any thing that moves, moves me

To answer, I looking for .cfg working (with high FPS) on similar hardware configuration. May 7, 201016 yr Wow! I hope that these benchmarkers will rerun their benchmarks because they seem to be totally wrong regarding performance compared to the 975 at default speed:http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/core-i...ftown,2573.htmlhttp://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=3763 Hi everyone. I'm a long time lurker on this forum. I have the same performance as JHodge. Currently running the following:980x oc 4.5 ghz (water cooled) completely stable!assus extreme Mobo6gb of DDR 3@2000mhzHIS 5870 oc factory with additional oc.40gb ssd 2x 300gb velociraptors800d obsidian caseFrames locked at 30. No microstutters or lag!Completely fluid with pmdg 747. I have not added all of my scenery yet as the system was just finished today. I just wanted to state that without any tweaks so far so great. The 5870 is a better choice imho because of the heat issues with the 480gtx. In addition I think the velociraptors are fine as primary hdd. The ssd is an improvement but not that great of one for the money/performance factor.I beleive FSX just lost. Hopefully more people like us will come forward and report their results.Joseph Blair
May 7, 201016 yr Do you guy's with the hexacore machines use different "Job Scheduler"settings?[other then 255 for a quadcore?]Hope one day i can stick a i7 -980x to my mobo one day.[have to tie my wife down first,,,before I'm going to get hit :( ] any thing that moves, moves me

May 13, 201016 yr Hi Crashmax I set Vcore on mobo 1.375 V ( max manufacturer Vcore from Intel reference but can increase more ) . This chip is F-Batch .see link CPU Z validator of this chip . But now It's not stable for 24/7 , I down clock to 1.63 GHz and stable.Cooler master V8 but replace fan with 90 CFM fan and Gelid GC extreme grease . First I not believe because you said B-Batch is best and HyperionXL got F-batch and hard to OC . But in Thailand , Only F-Batch in stock . My head has some voice that say BUY IT ...BUY IT repeatly . Lucky !!!Only Lucky , nothing More.Anthony
