nHancer, ENBSeries, Vsync OFF and BP=0

Featured Replies

I know many of you will freak out, because you have seen over and over how nHancer, ENBSeries and Vsync OFF affect the success rate of using the BP=0 tweak.Note I said 'affect'... they 'lower' your chances of achieving success with BP=0, but this is very subjective. because it depends on YOURparticular settings AND hardware. So, take it with a grain of 'salt'If you own an ATI 5870, then... you don't need to worry (read why in the pinned BP=0 conclusions thread) you can use nHancer with 32x AA if you like ;) this 'warning' about nHancer/ENBSeries/vSync OFF applies 'ONLY' to folks with nVidia cards. Again, its all there in the pinned BP=0 thread. The reason, is due to ATI's and nVidia's different architectures. *HOWEVER* the new GTX 470 & GTX 480 will make all this vSync OFF and nHancer discussion completely irrelevant, because YOU WILL be able to run all your IQ mod's with no adverse impact even with BP=0So.. before you start flooding the forums with 'I want ENBSeries and nHancer with BP=0!' posts READ the in-depth explanation on ATI/nVidia architecture differences.now go Fly.. enough tweaking.

Thanks for the advice!I ordered a GTX480 to replace my GTX285 and am looking forward to being able to apply the BP=0 tweak with a 30% performance increase without having to sacrifice any IQ. Good news, indeed! The HIGHMEMFIX=1 worked so well on my system. Thanks, ******* :(

Forgive my simplistic question because I'm nowhere near being an expert with video hardware and I've been trying very hard to keep up with all of the developments for tweaks. I use an ATI 4870, while I know many use nVidia, does turning vsync off still apply to my card? (If so, I'm not even positive how to turn it off in Win7).And I know you've heard a lot of this in the past 48 hours, but thank you for this revelation *******. After spending $4200 on an FSX machine this summer, I am finally able to get a reasonable performance with better looking environmments than FS9. I hope that this leads to even more, valid tweaks that I can gain even more performance out of. I think you may have launched yourself into FS fame a step above Pete Dowson. I sincerely hope you are asked to consult for PMDG, MS, or some other FS related group (or at least recognized and rewarded with some free goodies).Kyle

Hey, thanks! The best recognition is the advancement off our hobby... that makes me happy ;)Besides, I want to extend a public, sincere thanks to PMDG, because they were the only development group that took the initiative to 'organize' and actively work on ways to find a solution to the texture corruption problems. Wihtout their involvement this could not have been possible. So, show some appreciation guys and buy something from them :) I based MUCH of my investigations on Ryan's work and theories.. so, please.. THEY DO DESERVE CREDIT TOO!Of course... Every single one posting in the original BP=0 thread that tested and reported back, deserves recognition as well.. this was a coordinated test effort, without them, there would be no BP=0 tweak. And last, but not least... my friends the party poopers ;) you were my inspiration, the reason I took this personal, because all your efforts to midlead the community were in vain and thruth prevailed ;) Party Poopers, you are NOT welcome, with influence comes responsability, and you better learn that!

In order to avoid getting technical and confuse you.. I;ll try to give you a simplistic answer. No you don't 4870's are still 'good' when it comes to 'process' commands quickly. in fact, my first ever experiece with BP=0 was with a 3850 card!!! more than a year and a half ago! it it worked GREAT. (and at the time I didn't have a clue why)

JesusQuick question, I am in the process of switching to an ATI card 5870 2gb for eyefinity, and I was reading your explanation of the differences in ATI vs Nvidia. You mentioned that the ATI shaders run at the same speed as the Core clock 700mhz, does that mean if I overclock the Core, the shader clock also increases? Thanks

Correct.. im fact, in my tests, going from 700 to 900 gives aproximately 3 FPS. not bad :)
Oh, I'm sorry, didn't mean to poop on the lords party....
nah ;) it just takes 2 seconds for anyone to realize when you joined... and WHO you really are Klondy ;) sorry to see your EGO busted.

I have not been following this new tweak until just the last couple of days and from reading through things I'm wondering if it's worth trying for me? I just finished reinstalling FSX plus all my addons including the new Orbx PNW and numerous add on Ai aircraft. It was a beating....it's taken 3 solid days. I am running a dual boot system with Windows 7 as the main OS and Windows XP 64 bit as the OS running FSX. FSX itself is on its own hard drive. Before reinstalling I had tried running FSX in Windows 7 but I was experiencing sudden black screens where the sim was still running but all was black and I would crash into the ground. I decided to go back to XP64 for this reason. Anyway, it seems these new tweaks are designed for the newer OS's so that's one reason I am wondering if this will help me any?I didn't have many problems in XP64 other than some occasional heavy stuttering in certain spots, green solid textures that would eventually load around airports, some blurry textures especially in high scenery areas, and black boxes around lights and AI aircraft until they eventually loaded. Is this going to be helped here?I have a Q6600 processor overclocked to 3.4 GHz, a GTX 260 Video Card, and 4 GB of DDR2 800MHz RAM. I also have another 4 GB of the same RAM that I can add back in. I have been using NHancer and NickN's OS and FSX settings. I realize that I will have to give up on Nhancer. I Am wondering with these specs and issues I would like to fix should I benefit from these latest tweaks or are they for the newer CPUs and Video Cards?Brandon

So the people that said to do these tweaks we have to lower the image quality and FSX settings were right and get labled as "party poopers".FSX AA looks like chit, so does ingame filtering, so does stock max LOD...And now instead of getting Black screens it just crashes to the desktop if you try to run at any max IQ settings.Oh, I'm sorry, didn't mean to poop on the lords party....
If you run at: BP=500000 or 1000000 and put LOD at 6.5, you can get steady 30 plus FPS on an i7975/GT285 with no artifacts and quite smooth flight animation. Also great depiction. I have everything cranked except for a few items that really don't add to the visuals. ENBSeries is also in the mix. Fantastic results. I use all of *******'s tweaks in all sections, but the only difference, is that I use a setting of 500000 (five zeroes) for the BufferPools.I believe that one of his tweaks (or a combination) has stopped cold in its tracks, any freeze ups of FSX. I've taken two 8 hour flights across the continent with no hang up of FSX whatsoever. I KNOW that if anybody just places all his tweaks where they need to go under the proper headers....their problems with freeze up's will be a thing of the past as well. Keep the faith.

*******, I just want to confirm that you say that with the GTX 480 I will be able to use BP=0 and start using nhancer and vsync again, I love what you have done with this bp=0 stuff but I want to have my cake and eat it to :( . I just built a new i7 975 build but have a gtx 260 from an old machine in it, I have used nvidia all my life and am a little hesitant about going the ati route. But if the gtx 480 would enable me to use nhancer and vsync again Im going to get one aswell.

If you wan't to be 100% sure, I can report back once I get mine and I'll make a post on the forum for others to see. I can download nHancer, install it, enable vSync, up the resolution and try to kill the card.. lets way next week ;)

I would appreciate that *******, I will sit tight to see how your results are before I pull the trigger on that one. :(
