April 21, 201016 yr A good idea for a patch or alternate sound pack would be "wearing voice canceling headset".I think you mean "wearing noise canceling headset", but yes, i think this is a good idea. I remember dreamfleet's GA aircraft had this option and it was very helpful. Right now i wish i could use my Bose ANR headset with the J41 but until i find an adapter for the jacks, that ain't happening. Ryan Gamurot
April 21, 201016 yr Have ou seen my tutorial for lowering the sound files...this works perfect for mehttp://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=282671 Guenter Steiner -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Betatester for: A2A, LORBY, FSR-Pillow Tester --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
April 21, 201016 yr Author WOW -Guenseli,I'll sure give this a try and report back. THANKS so very much for answering this thread. Have a blessed day. Tom Tom Higginbotham - Montgomery, AL, USA
April 22, 201016 yr Author Hello Guenseli,Well, this ol' guy download and "thought" I had followed your instructions, precisely, but evidently not.I am getting the outside view engine sounds, but nothing inside the cockpit.Would you consider pm'ing me and sending me your file???Thanks so much - you're the very first to give me a solution since I bought th JS41 several months ago. I have had numerous thread answers, but no resolutions.cthiggin Tom Higginbotham - Montgomery, AL, USA
April 22, 201016 yr Thanks so much - you're the very first to give me a solution since I bought th JS41 several months ago. I have had numerous thread answers, but no resolutions. To be fair, you didn't even bother responding to what is arguably the most realistic solution to the whole issue...The J41 is very loud. Very, very loud. Talking without using the intercom is a shouting match, and hearing ATC over the cockpit speaker is very difficult. So difficult in fact, that headsets are REQUIRED below 10,000ft per the MEL. Not that anyone ever WANTED to fly without them. It's entirely up to you, of course, but if you want to hear ATC while preserving the realism of the sound environment, you can tell FSX to send the ATC sounds to your headsets and all other sounds to your speakers. The results in very convincing, and quite realistic.I'd call that a solution.
April 22, 201016 yr Author BlueRidgeDX,Thanks for your reply. I did respond to the "realistic solution" - no, I did respond to the thread after results. Sorry my friend. My previous solution was to go into sound tab in fsx and turn it down. To "me", and for my various birds that I fly, it was just counter-productive. Again, "for me".I do have a top end set of headphones with mic. - I "now" just prefer hi-end speakers with a wireless mike. Again, "for me" this works fine.Yes sir, I know that FSX is NOT a game, but a flight simulator, and I know by altering the sound files takes away the realism that PMDG built into the JS and as well asreal-life - but again, for me, this was a workable solution based on my setup. I have been able to alter the sound files and I am very happy with the results. Thanks so very much for your interest and reply and again, sorry for not replying to your thread. Great flying - cthiggin Tom Higginbotham - Montgomery, AL, USA
April 22, 201016 yr Hey Tom,I'm sorry if I sounded a bit more snarky than I intented. There's a thousand and one different ways to enjoy FSX, and to each his own.I'm glad you got the files edited to your liking. Way back during beta testing, I could swear that using the FSX sound sliders worked fine for adjusting things like engine volume. But you're not the first person to say that it doesn't. Perhaps something changed during the later beta releases? Or maybe I'm just remembering incorrectly...Anyway, enjoy the airplane!
April 23, 201016 yr Author Hello BlueRidgeDx,Thanks for your wonderful reply.Maybe a misconception here - Yes, I can lower the vc/engine sounds with my FSX Slider Tab - with the JS, I have been lowering to about 15% - ALL other sound sliders are at 100%.My "problem was" that when I did, I could not hear CockPit Chatter, which I use all the time.....also, the ATC volume was a little lower......go figure. It seems workable now......still needs a little tweaking. Thanks so much friend. cthiggin Tom Higginbotham - Montgomery, AL, USA
April 23, 201016 yr I can't believe, that PMDG J41 sounds are very "realistic" in its loudness....It is simply a fact, that, when I start the J41 and have used a "normal" (also PMDG) plane, my ears fall away and I have immediatelly pull down my system sound.Maybe the releationship with the J41 and their own sounds is realistic, but the whole soundset in relation to all other addons is far too loud. April 23, 201016 yr Yes I find the same. This is the only aircraft I have to turn the sound down to use RC or MS ATC.Wonder what is going to happen when we get FS2 Crew ??I think that might add another twist. Trevor Golding
April 24, 201016 yr Guenter,Believe it.Have you read my post? But its useless to debate further here...Some people want the J41 sound level as the same as all other addons, some want it much louder. Now, everyone can be satisfied now, if you follow my tutorial to lower the sound. :( Guenter Steiner -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Betatester for: A2A, LORBY, FSR-Pillow Tester --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
April 24, 201016 yr Have you read my post?Yes.You said: "I can't believe, that PMDG J41 sounds are very "realistic" in its loudness...."I'm telling you that yes, in fact, it is "very realistic" in its loudness. It is a very loud airplane. You want to compromise realism for usability, and that's fine, but don't say that the default sound level isn't realistic. It is.
