April 21, 201016 yr On a real world flight recently I`d entered all the en route winds into the FMC but hadn`t put the descent forecast winds into the machines VNAV descent page. I remembered I hadn`t done it but I thought I would leave them out as I didn`t think it would make much difference and the aircraft would just use its current sensed wind to work out a top of descent point.I was wrong, the VNAV path was all over the place and almost unusable, I ended up using FLCH for a large part of the descent. Lesson learned there.CheersJon BuntingJon I'd be grateful if you would give me guidance about my query dated April 20 in this string. It includes a screen print illustrating a problem I have entering the information manually into the Forecast page of VNAV.Cliff
April 21, 201016 yr Hi Cliff,Yes, if you want to enter the winds over a waypoint you need to go to the LEGS page and select RTE DATA bottom right button. Once in there you need to enter your flight level into the left side then your wind on the right side, there is a RTE DATA page available for each waypoint. The page on your screen shot there is the VNAV descent forecast page, on that page you dont enter waypoints but altitudes on the left and winds on the right, so it will end up looking something like this350 240/78300 270/60250 190/45I hope that gives you a clue, perhaps someone else could give you some more in depth expanation, I`m just turning in for the night here in Vegas, I`ll get back to you in the morning if you need more helpcheersJon Bunting 787 captain. April 21, 201016 yr Is the RTE DATA page modelled in PMDG? Mine isn't functional... am I doing something wrong or am I supposed to enter the relevant data once airborn?I use ASE so this kinda data is easy to have the problem is how to use in FS. George Golas ---------------------- I hate gravity!
April 21, 201016 yr Yes it is there.. press the side button next to the RTE DATA prompt. Them manual has examples and instructions. Dan Downs KCRP

This morning I was up at five to see whether you'd answered and was delighted to get your input.I'd appreciate your comments on the screen pics to see if I'm on the right track. They are:LEGS pageACT RTE 1 DATAACT DES FORECASTTo program the FMC I used the information on the Active Sky page bearing eight coloured boxes entitled Wind direction, Wind speed, Visibility, Precipitation, Temp, Pressure. Below each box are (I assume) altitudes ranging from 3K to 49K. And below them are vectors and speeds.Incidentally you note that "there is a RTE DATA page available for each Waypoint" I found only the one page as illustrated on the screen print. How am I doing?Regards.................Cliff
April 22, 201016 yr I've noticed that the FORECAST page was missing from my last post. Here it is;Cliff
April 22, 201016 yr Each waypoint has RTE DATA fields, the number of pages just depends on number of waypoints. Dan Downs KCRP
April 22, 201016 yr Cliff,The info shown in the screen print from ASE is only regarding your departure airport (KSFO in this instance). You should go to the "Briefing" page (the buttons at the top) where there are METARs for destination/arrival and alternate and temp/winds info for various altitudes for every point of your flightplan (you must load a flightplan in ASE in order to have this feature- check ASE manual it's an easy procedure). April 9, 201214 yr Hi guys, a simple question...related to PMDG 737 NGX. 1) Can i insert winds aloft data only for cruise waypoint? 2) Have I to use "descent forecast" page on FMC for inserting three different altitude? 3) and for climb phase, no entry? I have fsbuild and in its navlog are reported winds aloft for every wypoints of my route, can't I insert those for climb and descent?
