April 25, 201016 yr Author Hi Nils,I thought the Max_Texture_Data was arrived based on the following:TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD (multiplied by) TextureMaxLoad (multiplied by) TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULTIPLIER (divided by) UPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMITI've made some changes and I'm now using the following:TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=1024TextureMaxLoad=9Texture_Bandwidth_Multiplier=70Upper_Framerate_Limit=31Which should give me: MAX_TEXTURE_DATA=20810.3226Unless I'm doing something wrong. I tried with and without the following:FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.25MAX_TEXTURE_DATA=20810.3226UsePools=0I see no difference with and without the above added/removed from the fsx.cfgMaybe I'll try unlimited upper framerates and the following:TextureMaxLoad (multiplied by) TEXTURE_MAX_LOADThat will give me a MAX_TEXTURE_DATA of 9216.Thanks Maybe the display configuration is part of the problem and did you (you and your friend) test without AI? Is by chance the default FSX AI traffic still enabled?EDITMAX_TEXTURE_DATA=11891.6129 ?? April 25, 201016 yr This just comes to demonstrate that although ORBX does deliver stunning sceneries, they also are heavil unoptimized and unready for the average(+) pc..very sad indeed.Maybe in a few years we'll be able to take the pmdg 747 and land there with the FPS counter showing 10+ fps...
April 25, 201016 yr first get rid of the fiber time line. And if that doesn't do it, also get rid of the bufferpools sectionThat will actually reduce performance since the default is .33, he has it at .25 which will improve performance but could cause more blurries. With his system though, I don't think that's a problem. Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
April 25, 201016 yr Author Hi,Don't think that's true(unready for the average(+) pc), if I'm able to swing up to 27+ fps then back down to 3 fps there is something going on here. I don't think its Orbx, its in the system/setup somewhere, I just have to find it. This just comes to demonstrate that although ORBX does deliver stunning sceneries, they also are heavil unoptimized and unready for the average(+) pc..very sad indeed.Maybe in a few years we'll be able to take the pmdg 747 and land there with the FPS counter showing 10+ fps... April 25, 201016 yr Two "wrongs" don't make a "right".Why is it that some members here who repeatedly find themselves in the midst of "drama" find it necessary to use the tactic of displaying gratuitous aloofness in response to those who are "out of line" or express ideas different than their own?Sometimes the slightest dig, no matter how cleverly disguised OR UNINTENTIONAL can have a very detrimental effect on the perceived spirit of friendliness at a website (Especially moreso when the recipient of such displays is already and obviously upset). In a recent exchange with one of the moderators here, I was assured that it is perfectly ok to express one's ideas in a non-confrontational and respectful way so long as one then "moved on" and did not intentionally prolong the controversy - whatever it might be.How does this sidebar about old movie lines/axioms contribute to the topic of this thread? Given the already needless "heat" in this topic is it really appropriate to have this sidebar included in the replies of this thread, or would it be more appropriate to have the sidebar via PM's?Given, of course, that the intention is NOT to further aggravate the original offender, why does this sort of thing continually happen - repeat itself? In any event, now nobody can claim ignorance or misinterpretation of their intents, and maybe, just maybe, being a little wiser will stop with this tactic that typically goes on far longer than the original, offending, post/reply.I know what I personally think is going on when this happens, but I will not share that here. Suffice it to say that I am going to start using the "ignore" feature of these forum boards very soon if this tactic doesn't stop voluntarily by those who seem to enjoy employing it the most. Which would be a shame really, because sometimes they really do have something to contribute or of interest to me personally. But if it is necessary to remove them from my AVSIM reality then so be it. Poof! Just like magic, they will cease to exist.Just a reminder, as members here we do have tools and options available to us to help ourselves. While I absolutely stand behind the moderating team here, especially in light of my recent exchange of PM's with "Rightseater", we defintely should be doing everything we can to be a part of the solution rather than a part of the problem and that certainly includes exercising self-restraint, tact, and managing our ignored users list. I only have one question for the topic at hand, why does there also seem to be a recurring theme in many threads here of: 1) Controversial/Debatable 'announcement', 2) Controversy/drama, and 3) Reconciliation of the controversy which is most often resolved with the sound disproof of the original premise. Perhaps those for whom this mode of operation seems to repeat would be better served by doing more first-hand research to verify the cause of their problem/question, then coming here to make their "announcements"/posts.Just my respectfully submitted 2 cents worth of food for thought.
April 25, 201016 yr Hi,He has Windows 7 64 bit O/S installed.I think that maybe the problem Win 7 it seems to have a few little problems with FSX with both sound and graphics. Just minor but it can cause stutter. Windows 7 is great but I guess XP 64 must still be the best for FSX.Thats the only thing I can think of that can cause your system to stall like that going from 27fps down to 3fps then back-up like that. Email ORBX maybe the have seen your problem and know of a fix. Good luck
April 25, 201016 yr Author Hi Nils,I missed the part about AI Traffic. The default FSX AI Traffic file was removed from FSX when the manually added AI Traffic file was installed. I've tested FSX with and without AI Traffic. Same problem. The computer is filthy, dust bunnies everywhere. I've removed the ram memory, video board, heatsink/fan and processor. Maybe it's heat that is causing the problem. I have an air compressor and I'm in the process of blowing out all the dust. I'll reseat the processor and re-apply some artic silver. I should have it back together within an hour.I really can't blame the kid for the condition of the computer, he's 15 and has a learning disability. His single parent mom does not have the ability to fool around inside the computer.Hope this is it, because I'm out of ideas. I was thinking on releasing a video showing seatle with all sliders maxed out at 30FPS... I'll probably post it here next week, so stay tuned :)
April 25, 201016 yr Author Hi Jean-Paul,I'm in the process of cleaning the computer, I'm on my laptop. I'll take a look at what is installed as soon as I get the system back together, I'll see if he has that freeware scenery package installed. Thanks Mike, do you happen to have OZx freeware scenery package installed as well ? April 25, 201016 yr Mike, a lot is written here, so i appologize if you already wrote it.Just some basics:It's a fresh install of FSX + SPs/Xpack?, The system was correctly configured (BIOS->Sata mode, Ram timings, disabling of unneeded stuff etc) and fully installed (lates drivers and updates)?Which add-ons are installed and do those slow-downs also occure on different locations? Are there any DLLs or EXEs loaded with FSX?I would use a fresh FSX.cfg without any tweaks and if there are still extreme slow downs, i would use a global monitoring tool to view the file access and to check if a program/driver is stalling the CPU.I'm using Win7 64 too and i don't get extrem slow downs but sometimes black squares. It's still FSX and the area is complex...

What would you say is the "average pc"?
April 25, 201016 yr Hi Mike,How about these:TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=4096TextureMaxLoad=9 [remove]Texture_Bandwidth_Multiplier=100FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.10
