Flight Ontario CYDF Deer Lake release Date

Featured Replies

Al Sibley of Flight Ontario will be releasing CYDF Deer Lake .The scenery was designed for FS9. Expect to see it available for download Saturday May 1st. A version for FSX will be released some thine late spring. Deer Lake Regional Airport is the main airport on the west coast of the island portion of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The scenery will be devided into 3 sections, a main EXE for basic P4 PCs.This will give you the basic airport and all buildings minus frame killing detail. An add on Pac.1 which will contain several buildings to enhance the town of Deer Lake. This will be for higher end P4s and low end Duo cores. Pac.2 for newer PCs will include detaled upgrades to the airport and surrounding area. You will be able to pull from each other to suit what you wish to have in your scenery. The main install will also give you a detailed landclass with a bonus area for the Avalon Peninsula, and especially around St John's. Detailed terrain, lakes ,farms, mountians, and coastline cover a large area from Bay of Islands Corner Brook area up to and including Gros Morne national park. This scenery is a great add on for the low and slow with lots of eye candy right up to the high flying IFR guys. I spent over 2 years building it to be as accurate as I could get. Go to Flight Ontario to view screen shots. The EXE should give you the option to extract it to a temp folder. Thats how I test to make sure the EXE is working properly and all files end up in corect folders.AL

Thi scenery will include those textures for Concrete, Asphalt and Tarmac. I took them and reworked them so the cracks were much more realistic and the entire 3 textures will really make this airport look realistic to what I saw.BTW I'm planning to do several other airports on the Rock including St Anthony's St Andrews Gander and Stephenville.Al

We will continue to create sceneries for FS9 but personally , I am planning to start adding sceneries for FSX as well.Over the summer I woul be upgrading Goose Bay as best I can and I am already in the process of working to get Deer Lake FSX compatable. After that all my scenerys will have 2 full versions for FS9 as well as FSX.Al

Looks great, Al.Thanks very much for your hard work. It's much appreciated.

Love it!Is there any chance that YMM is in the near future at all

All our sceneries use photo real textures. This means we travel to every airport we do ,sometimes several times and get photos of every side of everything tied down or not. To Do CYMM we would have to fly there first to photo shoot the airport.$$$$$$$$There are already plans in the works to fly up to Iqaluit and the Madeleine Islands. We have several airports photo shot and on file from Dryden down to North Bay.I cant see us doing CYMM in any forseen future.Al

Understandable. I might be up there this summer though and I am a photographer. Could get some detailed shots if I was shown what is needed. Thanks again!Andrew

Is Deer Lake ready to download? I see the download link on Flight Ontario's website, but when I click to download it nothing happens.

I will try again later. After about 5 minutes of waiting I was able to download it, but only 2% of the file was downloaded then it timed out and was automatically canceled.

Something must be wrong with the F/O server as I too am having toruble downloading it. I'm getting 385bytes! That is over 25 hours to download.... :(
