this is by far the best support forum

Featured Replies

i am a member of this forum, the CS forum, the Airsimmer Forum and the Aerosoft one and i must say this forum is by far the Best!!reasons:1. PMDG team members and regular forum members help you, respnd fast, and give you tips ETC2. There is always someone online to respond (unlike the CS forum where it takes a day or two or in one of my cases an important post gets ignored)3. The quality of the help, like the planes, is fantasticJust thought i'd thank everyone.Happy flights

I'm torn between the PMDG forum and the forum over at VRS. Both of you maintain active communication with customers, but most of the time the issue is answered by another customer. They really are the "PMDG of military addons". (That should be a complement to both of you).

I agree this is the best support forum. HiFi isn't bad either.I went to the LDS forum once for help on the 767. The people there were rude and condecending. Basically jerks. Never went back. Thanks PMDG! Keep it up!Jeff Calder

I agree, PMDG Support is the best. Recently - and sorry if I hurt anyone - I asked a question on the support forum of the good old 767 - whether or not they will develop winglets for the sim. Since I got no straightfoward response I created a topic - kind of poll - to see how many of use wants winglets. In response, my posts were deleted, the topic got deleted and such. I was told stop asking about winglets... Suddenly they wanted to know whether or not I am a licenced owner of the product. I told in response that THIS particular area of the forum does not require registration and that it's weird why suddenly it is so important that I am registered ot not, I just asked a question... Suddenly another topic evolved a minute after I created my "poll" topic, praising the product, and I am sure that the company had many "member" registrations made by themselves and they kept praising their own sim - whatever, but when I dared to ask about winglets, I got muted... I just didn't like the attitude, so, no matter how great is their good old 767, for me without winglets it's like a bird without wings - and that kind of attitude is something I never expected from a company like that - so I am not gonna buy their FSX version, but I will choose the rival's product even if that is a bit messy... Once again, sorry if I hurt anyone, this is my personal opninon. It is of utmost importance that the support is efficient, fast and correct, and, looking around here, it is obvious that PMDG is the best. Because what would be a great product without a great and helpful team behind it?

I beg to differ. I think PMDG has the best customer service but MADDOG 2008 Pro is the best plane. If you have that plane you would know they have need for better customer service. I do own most of PMDG FS9 planes, except the 737 (hoping for the 737NGX in FS9). My experience with PMDG is so pleasant but I do enjoy the Maddog. Now that is a contradication.Carl Perry 7+ year sim pilot

Fellas, and ladies (I know there are a few here at the forum),IMO, I think what it all boils down to is they are human and have good days and bad just like everyone else. I have received excellent and not so great support and even then I was pointed in the right direction by that same person. These are the same mods and support people that step in when things get heated and must attempt to calm the seas/skies... whatever you prefer. I can sit here and type the names of mods and support individuals whom I have felt have been a little harsh with member's, some deservedly so. These could be the same individuals that ask the same question over and over again or demand to have an answer as to why a certain detail was not included with an addon (not just winglets on a 67 BTW) or they are here just to stir the pot... you know who you are, and yes I have done that in the past myself to be honest. And I can also type the names of forum members who have been just as harsh if not worse, so you see everyone can have a bad day. When I post a question, I ask myself what issue I would like resolved and that moves the process along fairly quickly, in other words be clear. Sometime there is no answer and we have to give the community time to hash out the issue, we may deem there are not any acceptable answer's and we are left feeling that we have to resolve ourselves. I had an issue not too long ago with the 747-8i where I swore it was PMDG's fault and I even PM'd Robert R for a refund, little did I know that the issue was self induced. I did eat crow for that one.Remember we are the community! Many times I post an issue and I know there is a forum member out there willing to help, and believe me I have received lots of help since I joined the many forums I belong to. I have tried to help in return and that is what makes this and others a good forum, you know people complain about the centured nature of AVSIM but I would rather be in a place where the mods and support people have some control over what is said. I was just visiting a forum this morning and left because of the meat cleavers that were being thrown and every other sentence was loaded with foul language or written with an asterix, exclamation point, star, ampersand etc... you get my meaning. If I want that kind of talk I'll go to work. Most mods and support people do this in their own spare time or do it as part of their daily duty while employed by an addon company so cut them some slack. There was one post in this thread that made some sense and I will end this by saying that if you feel that you have been treated unfairly and have not resolved your issue then do not buy from that company again, plain and simple.Have a great day everyone.

Alright I'll take your advice. Help me with this question. I have almost all the add-ons listed at the bottom of your post except Activesky E. Is it work it to up grade just for my PMDG MD11. the 747 is fine with the old Active Sky.Carl Perry 7+ year sim pilot

That's probably because you didn't register. Darryl is a good guy give him a chance.

Steven Penninck

Hey, if you were bombarded about when your 757 was going to be released on every post, then you'd be potentially marginally grumpy like Darryl can be. Most times, if you've registered in the Forum he'll be civil. He's also kind of sarcastic, so don't be too bummed out. I mean, PMDG never gets asked about when their planes are going to be released, so they have no reason to be grumpy... :(

Hi Carl - Oohh bad time to be reading this post as I have to get up at four, uhm less than 5.5 hours from now. I assume you have ASA, then yes why would you not? It is a free upgrade after all. I did and I am happy with it... Here is the linkRemember that you have to have wind smoothing checked when you fly the PMDG birds.Did I pass the test? Cheers,

I do own Maddog 2008 and yes it is one of the best addon aircraft, but I still have difficulties with the terminal procedures, - and the guys are really not that communicative:-)Also the Maddog 2008 is not such a feast for the eyes - once again, it is strictly my opinion. But, I really love it (so far my most expensive addon...) - it took over a year to fly it properly (more or less...) but I don't think it is the very best, but no doubt, in the top three. By the way, do you have the Learn the Maddog DVD? I'd love to hear some feedback on it!

I don't think it was Daryl being a jerk. It may have been some nobody but I don't like being treated like trash... Especially when asking for help with a product I purchased.Jeff Calder
