June 6, 201015 yr Moderator I have never used FSUIPC in FSX before, but I recently upgraded ADE to the latest version which requires it if you want to use it live with FSX unlike the prior version which let you use ADE live in FSX just using Simconnect. The few question I have are as follows.1. If I install FSUIPC as an unregistered version just for ADE and dont mess with it, will it have any effect on any of my other addons in my sig?2. Does FSUIPC write anything to the dll.xml or exe.xml? And if so, does uninstalling FSUIPC require more than just deleteing those enteries and the module itself?3. Can I install it to a dummy folder then just copy the FSUIPC module to the FSX modules folder, or does the installer have to me run normally?I know this probably sounds a bit paranoid, but like many of you, when you get FSX and all your addons working in harmony, I worry about installing new modules or things of that nature that I dont know a lot about and I just want to make sure by installing FSUIPC I dont create probelms with ASA or UT2, or any of my other addons that use simconnect. I know a lot of people swear by FSUIPC, but frankly to this point I haven't had a need to have it prior to updating ADE.Thanks in advance. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
June 6, 201015 yr Just install it. I believe it creates a dll file in the modules folder and runs when FSX starts up. I use it al of the time as do many others and I've never known it to cause any problems in all my years of flight simming. I've used previous versions on previous versions of flightsime as well.As far as I've seen, it doesn't alter any fsx files at all and to remove it, all you need to do is remove the fsuipc.dll file from your modules folder. It is needed for a number of add ons and one thing it does (which I find useful) is makes regular aurosaves of your flight and so if you have a crash or other problem, you can restart fsx 9or your PC) and get back to your flight again.IAN Ryzen 5800X3D, Nvidia RTX5080 - 32 Gig DDR4 RAM, 1TB & 2 TB NVME drives - Windows 11 64 bit MSFS 2024 Premium Deluxe Edition Resolution 2560 x 1440 (32 inch curved monitor)
June 6, 201015 yr Since most fancy add-ons have a built in FSUIPC licence, on the face of it, you don't need a registered version, however, the range of things a full version of FSUIPC offers means that for a serious simmer, a full version is something that is worth getting. Having said that, there are one or two add-ons that absolutely will not allow all their features to be used unless you have a full version of FSUIPC. TSR Autobrake is one, which has limited functionality on a freebie version of FSUIPC.Looking at the add-ons you have, I would think the only potential issue you may have with FSUIPC, is with ASE. Normally people use FSUIPC to smooth out the crappy sudden wind shifts that FS can cause when it downloads weather, but in the case of ASE, since it does a lot of fancy stuff on that score itself, it is worth unchecking a few options related to that in FSUIPC, since they can otherwise clash. The ASE PDF manual has information about which options you should uncheck in FSUIPC if you are getting weird stuff going on.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
June 6, 201015 yr FSUIPC will add an entry to the DLL.XML file. <Launch.Addon> <Name>FSUIPC 4</Name> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <Path>Modules\FSUIPC4.dll</Path> </Launch.Addon> The installer will create the "Modules" folder in your main FSX folder. That's where it wants to live.Pete Dowson makes frequent updates/improvements to the product and the download is usuallya small zip file that contains a new FSUIPC.dll file. This simply goes into the "Modules" folderand overwrites the previous version.FSUIPC is a widely used addon, thus you have nothing to "fear" from just running the installer.I have been using the registered version from day 1 with FSX and would not be without it. I findit to be irreplaceable when it comes to assigning axis and controller buttons & switches. Theregistered version allows one to create some very powerful controller profiles that can bespecific to individual aircraft and loaded automatically when you load an aircraft. Paul
June 6, 201015 yr Author Moderator Thanks for the input fellows, guess I will go ahead and install it today so that I can gain full use of ADE.Regards Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

PaulPaul, Will it allow you to change controllers,(ie, from joystick to yoke\pedals back to joystick) without having to reprogram the buttons each time?
June 7, 201015 yr AFAIK there are two way so do this. One method is to create a copy of fsx.exe (call it fsxyoke.exe for instance). Create a shortcut to the copy. It is possible to then create a unique fsuipc4.ini file that runs when you start the copy. The alternative, is to program both the stick and yoke in a single fsuipc4.ini. That will work, as long as you don't move the "unwanted" controller axis (i.e., when using the yoke don't move the stick). The fsuipc for advanced users pdf file shows how to best set up your stick/yoke for this situation.scott s..
June 7, 201015 yr Commercial Member Paul, Will it allow you to change controllers,(ie, from joystick to yoke\pedals back to joystick) without having to reprogram the buttons each time?Yes of course. Each controller is treated separately, and it will cope even with unplugging and re-plugging controllers provided you use the Joystick lettering facility (by default it used the ID numbers Windows assigns, but those can change if you disconnect and reconnect things). It can also have different assignments of both buttons and axes for different aircraft, automatically activating according to the aircraft loaded. Best to use the Profile facilities for this, where you can assign aircraft to profiles you've already created.Pete Win10: 22H2 19045.2728 CPU: 9900KS at 5.5GHz Memory: 32Gb at 3800 MHz.
