June 18, 201015 yr Hi Guys,I'm planning to purchase the 747-8i upgrade. Could you please tell me the differences among the two models? I basically know that this is an exterior/sound enhancement for it previous model. How about frame rate impact? Does it run better or the same? What difference does it make in the engine sounds? Thanks in advance for the comments. Roy Joven T. June 18, 201015 yr Exactly as you described it. The 747-8i is just a visual / sound modification. The cockpit and all the aircraft systems are exactly the same as the 747-400, seeing as, of course, the real 747-8 hasn't been released yet. Only visible difference is the wings, engines, and the fact that the airplane is a few meters longer.About frame rate, in my case, it does improve the frames in the outside (spot) view. In the 2D/3D cockpit it's exactly the same. And well, the difference it makes in the engine sound is... Engines sound different lol, you can search on YouTube videos about the plane flying in order to hear its sound. I like this engine sound better though. That's all I remember atm, so if I missed anything others can help.
June 19, 201015 yr You can enter the cabin in the 747-400 with a program like wheelcam. It's nice. You cannot do this on the 747-8. And the 747-8 takes longer to load in the outside view. The first 5 seconds it had to build up the image, al least at my computer. There is not a huge difference in flying this or the 'small' aircraft.Martin Pampiermole Martin Pampiermole
June 22, 201015 yr How about frame rate impact? Does it run better or the same? What difference does it make in the engine sounds? The 800's virtual cockpit actually gives me more FPS than the 400's VC! Yes I know its exactly the same VC but apparently according to PMDG its because the external model of the 800 is much better optimised than the 400's external model. So even if you own the 400 I think its worth purchasing the 800 just to be able to fly in the 800's VC with better FPS. June 24, 201015 yr Since I got it, I use it all the time now. The 'engines sounds' are worth the price alone. Dave Taylor

July 19, 201015 yr That statement was perfectly obvious to me sonny. He was asking if the 748i has better fps, the way I read it. Thanks for the insults though. Dave Taylor
July 20, 201015 yr Ummm...it looks like you're the one who needs to brush up on their reading comprehension and/or plan a visit to Specsavers, Mr Taylor. Avirtualpilot clearly asked whether if by adding the 747-8 expansion it might also lead to improved framerates for the 400 model as well, a question Roy didn't actually address in his post. For the record, no it doesn't. The 400 original sees no performance improvement at all, its only in the 8i/F model that you'll see better fps.Kind RegardsRichard Wells That statement was perfectly obvious to me sonny. He was asking if the 748i has better fps, the way I read it. Thanks for the insults though. My question was easy to understand, infact Wiseblood had understood immediatly.By the way it doesn't matter your insult.I've found a kindly person that answered to me!
