July 6, 201015 yr I was using BP=0 for a few months, and I think it created many spikes and video issues on my system. I changed it to BP=1 this morning. So far, no spikes and not a real change in performance. Is there a consensus on this tweak....and I'd be interested in hearing it.Stan

Is there a consensus on this tweak....and I'd be interested in hearing it.StanAs far as my experience with BP, the 470 GTX and the 480 GTX with BP=0 is great, a perfect combination. With my former video card, a GTX 275, I used the reject threshold tweak very successfully.Stephen
July 7, 201015 yr I prefer a 128KB reject threshold and a 2MB bufferpool. It has the same performance for me as no bufferpool and it is more stable. Shane Gavin
July 8, 201015 yr BP=0 is a winner. BP=1 works too. On my system it does not make a difference.Stan,What drivers are you using? MSFS

By the way, exactly what is the "reject threshold" and how is that implemented? I tried searching for it, but I'm not getting the information I'm looking for.Stan

You will have to login (it's free) to FTX to read it I think.Stephen
July 8, 201015 yr Commercial Member On my previous GTX275, BP=0 worked great. On my GTX470 it did not, with graphics errors and crashes. However RejectThreshold worked great instead.Just lately I've switched back to BP=0. I'm not sure what's changed, maybe drivers, but so far it's working out well. There's a few places in the world I need a little more performance, and this seems to be delivering it.Whichever you end up using, they are both winners!Simon www.supertrafficboard.com

Tried the tweak you referenced...[bufferPools]RejectThreshold=98304and I have had no spikes or flashes in the last several flights, and they occurred with both the 0 tweak and the 1 tweak. Performance is excellent!Stan

UsePools=0/1 is the boolean true/false value I believe you mean? Jeff Hepburn
July 10, 201015 yr I keep seeing BP=0 but don't know what it means. Can someone tell me (and maybe others) what exactly it means. Do you have to have FSX set in BP=0 to gain better performance in the 470/480 over older cards, or do you see benefits with the 470/480 regardless of BP=0 or not. Thanks in advance,RH

I can sum it up for you though.... as with ANY tweek its a YMMV tweek. Some see good results some do not so try it and see. Jim Wenham

For some it is works well and for others it either doesn't make much difference, or it leads to instability and texture flashing regardless of the recommended settings to address instability.
