July 22, 201015 yr I had to chuckle a little while reading these responses to the question about FSX being dead. I count 45 posts since yesterday. Seems like a lot of activity for a "dead" program.
July 22, 201015 yr Not exactly new news but if it's dead then people must really love dead games to make it sell out:http://www.microsoft.com/Products/Games/FS...es/soldOut.aspxAnd FS9 is alive and well! Once I get over the newness of FSX I'll be back to flying across Europe in a 732 in no time.
July 22, 201015 yr Errrr.... it is growing. I don't know anything about the activation stuff.... never had to reactivate mine - even with a new mobo.I will admit (since I know you are an xplane man hehe) that some of the new xp addons are looking pretty good. I wish XP well! But FSX is getting better and better. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
July 22, 201015 yr Wow! It took a thread like this to wake our community up. :( In a way FSX is a new discovery to many simmers. As the hardware improves and simmers buy the new technology, many more will embrace FSX and finally realize what an amazing sim FSX really is. It's only going to get better from here. I promise! MSFS
July 22, 201015 yr As long as there is no better alternative, FSX will continue to be popular. As soon as a new flight sim becomes available that offers more realism than FSX (make that FSX + add-ons) FSX will be abandonned by its user base. With Microsoft halting development of the platform, the future of FSX is in the hands of the 3rd party developers. As long as Orbx, REX and other notable devs continue to make improvements to FSX realism, they make it harder for any new entries to take a slice of the market, effectively protecting their own investment. July 22, 201015 yr I am wondering if my hobby has reached the peak and is starting to die out.LevelD released their 767 3 years ago,PDMG released their 747 about the same time. The wait for the LD757 and the PDMG 737NG seems to be dragging on for ever. No one has announced any intentions for a new Microsoft Flight Sim. Are we basically going to be flying the same planes, on the same platform for the next 5, 10, 20 years? I am happy with my 767 and 747 in FSX and flying on VATSIM but this "hobby" had such fast progress and developments over the 1990 and up until 2008 and now it seems we hit the end of the runway.Any input, hope, insight?I dont think FSX is dead, but Elvis sure is...... :( Jim Wenham
