July 22, 201015 yr ...and of course "dead" seems to be defined here as a lack of constant and steady stream of emerging add ons...there are many I know that don't have one add in yet are still stimulated by the stock sim.I have so many add on aircraft right now that to learn to fly each with realism will probably take me to when I die-I hope at least 30 years from now... :( There are two or three aircraft I fly almost exclusively for training puposes that take all my time presently-and a whole world to explore that I have only taken about 10% in as of now. The Orbx Pnw scenery alone I figure can keep me busy at least a year or two .So dead is relative-even if no other sim ever comes around and there were no more add ins I have plenty to keep me busy the next 30 years or so...But it seems there will be many more add ins...I better live at least another 50 years! :( Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
July 22, 201015 yr Commercial Member If FSX were dead, Orbx's revenues would not be growing by 160% year on year; our forums would not be getting 200 new members a month (nearly 8,000 members already); our FTX website would not be getting 4 million hits per month; we would not have released 23 FSX products with 23 more in production; we wouldn't have have a staff list of 60 people and growing; we would not be selling record numbers of FTX products for North America and our distribution channel would not have grown to 9 resellers in 7 countries.Dead? I don't think so ;)I think the FS industry is finally relishing in a stable, static platform which the hardware has almost caught up with. I also agree that AVSIM probably quieter because people are finally coming to grips with FSX and how to get the most out of it. These days we tend to celebrate new product releases rather than bash ACES :( In terms of forum posts as of today, the AVSIM FS2004 forum has 13,030 topics and 76,777 replies versus the AVSIM FSX forum with 69,323 topics and 436,358 replies. July 22, 201015 yr No, not yet. Basically it's still out of stock for the moment though. Still, FSX development continues well, particularly with both payware and freeware models, as well as sceneries and freeware modifications for aircraft. July 22, 201015 yr Activity on the forums is always down during the summer. You are only limited to the 747 and the 767 because of choice - not because of the lack of availability of add ons.^^^ This Tired of Streetlights everywhere? Try MSFS DarkStreets today!
July 22, 201015 yr The simple thing is, FSx plane developement is taking longer, beacuse FSX has so much more to offer then Fs9, in models, textures etc, things that are slowly being fixed light planes losing grip on take off etc etcetera. So be patient its only getting better.

July 22, 201015 yr FSX is not dead, it's just resting while we run to catch up with our new systems. This statement says it all... FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR

July 22, 201015 yr Hi,The statement below is incorrect in regards to FS2004 and FSX forum posts/reply's. Those who have been around long enough know that the FSX forum of today contains years of FS2004 posts/reply's when it hijacked (Squawk 7500) the FS2004 forum when it first opened. When FSX first opened it was just a renamed FS2004 forum, the FS2004 forum no longer existed. After numerous requests to reopen the FS2004 forum by AVSIM members, a new FS2004 forum emerged with its post/reply's count starting at zero. If FSX opened a new forum when it was first started and didn't hijack the FS2004 forum the numbers would look very different. However the forum numbers play out, FS2004 and/or FSX are both far from dead and I look forward to the future when new hardware/software take us to new heights of realism. In terms of forum posts as of today, the AVSIM FS2004 forum has 13,030 topics and 76,777 replies versus the AVSIM FSX forum with 69,323 topics and 436,358 replies. July 22, 201015 yr It it were truly dead you would not even be asking question "is it dead?" because it would be plain obvious - there would be no one on this forum. Michael J.
July 22, 201015 yr During the next months we should see the PMDG NGX and an FSlabs A320........ FSX has only just begun. Craig Sells

July 22, 201015 yr The biggest reason why FS9 is still relatively popular is because we still haven't reached a point where we can run FSX on average hardware (it's been about 5 years since FSX release) with full sliders, full AI traffic, complex payware aircraft and scenery. It's silly to suggest that we all should get i7 extremes, water coolers and overclock them to 4GHz in order to get decent framerates at the highest settings. This is a problem for the community because it splits the market into 2, people who invested much of their time and money in FS9 won't spend a penny on FSX if all they will get is a graphical slideshow or a blurry low res cartoon. e.g. Concorde X with FSDT JFK or Aerosoft Heathrow/Roissy. During the next months we should see the PMDG NGX and an FSlabs A320........ FSX has only just begun.By the look of things the NGX would be released after September (AFAIK they not in beta yet) and the FSLabs A320 would most likely arrive in 2011 or 2012.
