July 26, 201015 yr Is there a consensus about which one is best of these three? My Traffic 2010Traffic XUltimate Traffic 2In regards to out of the box results in generating complete traffic, from commercial, to general, to Military.I currently have Traffic X and to be honest, out of the box results, with traffic settings in FSX at high, is dissappointing, particurlarly General Aviation traffic. So rather than potentially waste time creating a lot of traffic manually I would consider ditching it and buying one of the others if they had significantly better out of the box results.Opinions?

July 26, 201015 yr Moderator Do a search here on Avsim for more info. This topic has been discussed and debated to death and comes up about every other week. However you can think of it like this.If you just want a bunch of traffic with no regards to real world schedules then get MyTraffic or Traffic X. For some people just having a bunch of airliner AI is fine and dont mind the fact of possibily seeing airlines fly into airports that they dont use in real life.If you want AI airliners that fly according to real world schedules and fly actual flight plans rather than a straight line from point A to point B, then buy Ultimate Traffic 2.Personally I use Ultimate Traffic 2 because I like to see the proper airlines at the correct airports and during the times of the real world flights. Plus I supplement UT2 with some WOAI for flights or airlines that UT2 is missing. UT2 also has a tool called Power Pack that lets you import other schedules into the data base.Or you could go completely freeware and just use World of AI stuff. I used it exclusively prior to getting UT2.Good luck. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

MyTrafficX still performs far better than UT2 ever has on my system regardless of which patch you have installed for UT2. The other huge gaping hole UT2 has is empty airports and this appears to be a big deciding point for the OP, UT2 planes don't appear on their stands until 20 minutes before they depart, this can leave you with EAS (Empty Airport Syndrome) :( , you wont get this with MyTrafficX 5.3 professional, sometimes aircraft can be parked for days before they depart. Cheers, Andy.

I agree though UT2 does have an inherent problem with the way it injects traffic. Less of a problem during the day, when at least at the major airports there are plenty of aircraft scheduled, but if you fly in later at night, you'll find the airports barron! Since all the aircraft that should be at the gates pending the morning departures, aren't even spawned yet. I reverted back to WOAI because of that! Not much more of a performance hit, and they still use real world schedules. Downside is time to setup as you must download, and each airline package separately. You can install multiple packages at a time, but if you run into a bad package,(which does happen from time to time) could result in a lot of manual effort to fix, since it won't tell you which package caused the problem. This could also be considered a plus though, as it allows you to control, of which airline packages you want to install and need. Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
July 27, 201015 yr At the cost of visual quality of the models used.Yea i have my traffic 5.3, and the visual models.. Well, suck. Plus they dont know how to land properly. I was at darwin intl en route to sydney and i literaly saw an A320 flop onto the tarmac halfway down the runway.

Burkhard will fix stuff pretty quickly if you tell him about such issues. Cheers, Andy.
July 27, 201015 yr Moderator That is rather disingenuous, there is a lot more to it than that, performance being one of the major points.Yeah I was making a simplistic comparison between the two, but essentially that is the main difference between the 3 of them. Two are bgl based traffic programs that just create a bunch of AI and one is based on real world schedules that injects traffic based on where it is supposed to be at a given time, minus the 20 minutes prior to or after the flight. However, you can get around the 20 minute injection dilema by importing an airline schedule using the Power Pack and the traffic for the said airline that you do that with will remain all day or night at an airport. It's a give and take proposition because the bgl traffic programs will sometimes result in traffic over crowding an airport since they will sit in one place until their next scheduled flight which depending on the airport and Afcad being used can sometimes result in no more parking spaces and aircraft landing and then disappearing since they have nowhere to park.It reall comes down to your preference and AI programs sometime almost have a cult following. Some folks like Andydigital have been flagged months ago as one who really dislikes UT2 and then there are others who really love it becasue of the way it injects traffic and uses the real world schedules. I guess I am lucky because I have never experience any problems with UT2 as far as lack of traffic, except in the middle of the night where there aren't a lot of movements, but its been a non issue for me. When I go to mid to large hubs I usually have more than enough traffic to create a nice ambiance and frankly it would seem weird to me to go to a small airport like KTUS and see every gate filled with all types of airlines. There is no right or wrong program to use, just depends on what your looking for. UT2 has since come up with a newer GA schedule that will result in AI over crowding if so desired and set to 100% on the GA traffic slider. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
February 6, 201214 yr Commercial Member Ideal Flight can improve things for you.IF will ensure there is always traffic whenever you fly. At the moment only aircraft from the SimObjects\Airplanes folder are injected. With the next update coming shortly, you can assign folders from other traffic addons such as UT2, MT2010, and TrafficX. I'll be uploading a preview to the IF forum newbuilds section later. Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
February 6, 201214 yr I LOVE flying on an Airway in Canada or the USA, particularly out east at around 6,7 or 8 at night and seeing LH DL UAL AAL making there way over to the NAT Entry points.Several Times a flight it isn't uncommon to be flying say from Toronto to Ottawa and seeing A319/320 CRJ's 737/8's flying underneath of you, oppostie direction on the Airways, that is why I choose UT2.UT2 has the ability to access Status Boars and it makes up PDF's of the Activitys for Airliner, Airports etc; I love that as well.I don't own My Traffic so I cannot compare the two, but I am MORE then happy with UT2. February 7, 201214 yr I don't own My Traffic so I cannot compare the two, but I am MORE then happy with UT2.CheersThat seems to be the general consensus. MTX and UT2 on the whole are the first and last traffic program purchased by users. In other words, most just choose which ever one and it more than satisfies needs. UT2 was a powerful add on, I just wanted those few extra frames and more real airlines available in MTX. The models are prettier and the UI is much more polished in UT2. They're both great. Apparently Traffic X is junk compared to the contemporaries. Not that I would know first hand, I haven't used it. February 7, 201214 yr Apparently Traffic X is junk compared to the contemporaries. Not that I would know first hand, I haven't used it.Can't compare TX to other options, never tried anything else, but I use Traffic X and it doesn't feel like junk at all. Models are pretty nice and it does include military traffic. I also bought the 2 plus pak (civil & military) which adds even more AI. Personally I'm really satisfied with the product.
